@itsgettingweird

I don't bloody blame them and bet Harries wishes she hadn't done Sunday's briefing, which was absolutely disgraceful.

Oldmrswasherwoman · 28/05/2020 12:03

Thanks for clarifying educating

Personally, rather than being able to unloc lockdown, it will make me more careful about who I see than ever - as per PP I don't want to be responsible for someone taking 2 weeks off work potentially on reduced pay.

itsgettingweird · 28/05/2020 12:19

Agree crunchy they are misquoting her for a start and she made it abundantly clear during that briefing that she wasn't making any comments in reference to the Cummings clause.

SouthWestmom · 28/05/2020 12:44

LBC say breaking news that police find he did breach rules

Public complain to regulator about Spectator article by Mary Wakefield.

SabrinaThwaite · 28/05/2020 12:51

BREAKING: A Durham Police investigation has concluded that Dominic Cummings DID breach lockdown rules when he drove to Barnard Castle, the Telegraph has learned.

^^ From Torygraph crime correspondent.

itsgettingweird · 28/05/2020 12:55

That's an interesting turn of events.

SouthWestmom · 28/05/2020 12:56

Minor breach and no further action

But does mean the WhatsApp group will now be full of emojis

OP posts:
SabrinaThwaite · 28/05/2020 12:59

But - remember that the Attorney General retweeted the tweet said that Cummings had acted legally?

Oops.

itsgettingweird · 28/05/2020 13:01

Sabrina shall I email my darling MP again and point this out? Just so she can ignore another one of my emails?

JackiFazaki · 28/05/2020 13:03

Police are calling it a "minor breach" and taking no further action.

SabrinaThwaite · 28/05/2020 13:05

Maybe we have the same MP - I’ve emailed mine 3 times since Saturday and only received one autoreply (maybe her inbox is full?). Still, she is known for being particularly shit at replying so I won’t hold my breath.

But I think Jo Maugham at the Good Law Project will be on it.

SabrinaThwaite · 28/05/2020 13:06

@JackiFazaki

Police are calling it a "minor breach" and taking no further action.
But it was still a breach of the law.

Not the “acting legally” line being promoted by Johnson and Braverman.

SabrinaThwaite · 28/05/2020 13:08

Although a breach is a breach - you are either acting lawfully or unlawfully.

JackiFazaki · 28/05/2020 13:09

Yes of course Sabrina .
I was just a bit pissed off with the nfa by Durham police.

JackiFazaki · 28/05/2020 13:12

Also, as you say, a breach is a breach.
Is there some kind of slide rule test or discretion in that bit of the law?
( I doubt it)

SouthWestmom · 28/05/2020 13:12

Bearing in mind they appear to have been lent on hence the 4pm weird statement this is probably as much as they have negotiated with No10

OP posts:
itsgettingweird · 28/05/2020 13:13

Doesn't matter what kind of breach it was.

People get caught shop lifting and just get a warning if first time and mis guided etc.

Doesn't make it not a crime or ok.

Point is that it's take Durham police to tell the government what we already knew.

My MP Facebook page is highly amusing right now.

itsgettingweird · 28/05/2020 13:14

Sabrina mines the Attorney General Grin

CricketCrocket · 28/05/2020 13:18

Today’s daily briefing will be interesting! I imagine they’ll have technical difficulties and won’t be able to take questions.

SabrinaThwaite · 28/05/2020 13:19

Oooh itsgettingweird !

I think a letter asking her if she is going to resign her position as it is now untenable would be in order!

SabrinaThwaite · 28/05/2020 13:23

@JackiFazaki

Yes of course Sabrina . I was just a bit pissed off with the nfa by Durham police.
Absolutely.

Just imagine if they’d fined Cummings and he refused to pay and was taken to court by the CPP.

Remind me again - who is in charge of the CPP and was busy Retweeting the No10 statement that Cummings had acted legally?

Farahilda · 28/05/2020 13:37

It does put the AG in a difficult position

SouthWestmom · 28/05/2020 13:39

So interesting that the travel guidance says not to travel to self isolate but that can't be in the regulations (they say they disregarded guidance).
Basically it upholds his reasoning that they were always up for interpretation.

I work with legislation and the lawyers always go back to laws and not codes of practice.

The Barnard Castle jolly was not an essential trip but the whole eye test aspect has meant it's taken up loads of airtime. I'm more concerned and infuriated by the defense of the original trip from London to Durham with a symptomatic person just for the potential to need childcare (and using local healthcare resources once there). It's actually dangerous, a dangerous precedent to set
