Thread three for following the uproar at playing down the lock down and rewriting the rules.

I think Durham Police will find out he's visited Durham since and it will end this farce.

Lying, manipulative, disingenuous individual. He's dangerous.

larrygrylls · 25/05/2020 18:28

He basically knew where he had been spotted and when and fitted a cock-and-bull story around them.

If you are worried about driving 270 miles in one shot, the best solution is to increase the distance by 50 miles!

The killer question was why not start driving to London and turn around if not well enough. He had no idea what to say to that.

Also, given his status, I suspect he had all sorts of transport options if he needed to work (including a helicopter). Far safer.

itsgettingweird · 25/05/2020 18:29

Torys have looked a good party the past few years in the grand scheme of things.

That's probably because of the shit show that was Corbyn.

He's gone. The Tory party holes have appeared.

vera99 · 25/05/2020 18:36

@The80sweregreat I do hope not I've just put a 100 quid for him to go by 1st of June with betfair at 5/2.

AlovelybitofsquirrelJackie · 25/05/2020 18:36

Interesting

NudgeUnit · 25/05/2020 18:39

Good lord. Just caught up with the thread after hearing the press conference. What a pack of lies. I don't think the media covered themselves with glory either. I've got at least half a dozen questions I'd like to ask him myself and none of them are: 'Do you see that people might think it's one rule for you and another for us?' I'm sure lots more will come out over the next few days that makes a very public liar of him though, and the longer the government back him up the worse it will be for them, so it's an ill wind and all that. Test my eyesight ffs. Pathetic.

Cailleach1 · 25/05/2020 18:40

So, he didn't go to Durham for reasons related to Coronavirus. But because of concerns of personal safety at his house in London. At a house he returned to. I'm getting dizzy. No wonder he was half an hour late cooking this up.

vera99 · 25/05/2020 18:40

12th April (date of Barnard Castle trip) just happens to be his wife's 45th birthday.

Nobody has mentioned that yet, but it will feature prominently in tomorrows headlines.

Cailleach1 · 25/05/2020 18:41

Or is he still keeping the CV in his back pocket along with safety at the London house.

GrimmsFairytales · 25/05/2020 18:42

But because of concerns of personal safety at his house in London.

Was his house actually a target prior to their journey to Durham? Surely people were staying home, because... lockdown, so I don't see how he thought he was at risk there.

whatnametopick · 25/05/2020 18:45

Did he report his concerns about his London home to the police?

ToffeeYoghurt · 25/05/2020 18:47

Like I've asked on another thread. Why the outrage?
If people are worried about infection risks, I'd say the hundreds of thousands of international travellers coming in to the UK - with no checks or quarantine unlike other countries. Even with the fake quarantine due from 8 June they'll be travelling across the UK often by public transport.

Far greater risk than one single family.
Whilst that's going on it doesn't matter what he does.

SouthWestmom · 25/05/2020 18:48

Raab on Twitter - he followed the rules applicable to his family Grin

You should also remain self isolated if you are still not well after 14 days yet Cummings decided to drive 60 miles with dodgy eyesight and nausea so bad he had to get out of the car at Barnard Castle

vera99 · 25/05/2020 18:51

@ToffeeYoghurt - seen almost a verbatim post on another forum I frequent - Tory troll account.

FuckThisWind · 25/05/2020 18:52

Surely he will be first in line for an antibody test to prove he had it, and therefore immune. What with him being so important and indispensable? Hmmm

He's a spin doctor. It's his job to cook up bullshit and spin lies. Not such a good public speaker though so no wonder he doesn't have a job as an actual politician. not that its stopped most of the current cabinet

JackiFazaki · 25/05/2020 18:52

Good spot @vera99 re the birthday!

GrimmsFairytales · 25/05/2020 18:52

We'll need another thread soon. Smile

Any thoughts on whether BJ will mention him / the situation at the briefing tonight?

SouthWestmom · 25/05/2020 18:55

BJ will be irritated and flustered and perplexed that the matter isn't over.

Dom Cummings was right today to set out in full detail how he made his decisions in very difficult circumstances. Now we must move on, fight this dreadful disease and get our country back on her feet

FuckThisWind · 25/05/2020 18:58

No. BJ will say it's all been explained and that he is here to talk about the greater matters of the country. I imagine someone will ask the question as to whether DCs wife drives. Boris will claim to have no knowledge of this. Because of course they aren't at all close and it's not like DC is his indispensable senior aide.

ToffeeYoghurt · 25/05/2020 18:59

@vera99
Fascinating. Over the last couple of weeks I've been accused by one poster of being too left wing, now you're accusing me of being a Tory troll. Don't know how that works together. Confused

I've said on previous threads I'm a floating voter.

It's unsurprising somebody else is concerned. I'd expect many to be. It's a very legitimate concern.

Aren't you worried about hundreds of thousands of unchecked unquarantined international travellers travelling across the UK? I assume you are if you're worried about Cummings travelling internally.

1forsorrow · 25/05/2020 19:01

ToffeeYogurt I think we are all capable of being concerned about more than one thing at a time.

1forsorrow · 25/05/2020 19:01

I've had a break in the garden, I'm hoping BJ isn't going to wind me up again.
