HE IS NOW UNDERMINING ALL GOVERNMENT GUIDANCE!!

Saucery · 25/05/2020 17:36

I think they need to stop now because repeating the questions can be spun into haranguing him. The brave, panicked aide who was under siege in London and dared not trouble the Prime Minister about it.

janet1267 · 25/05/2020 17:36

'You have to exercise judgement' - big, big mistake. We were not told to exercise judgement. We were told to stay at home.

Belindabelle · 25/05/2020 17:36

Barnard Castle is South west of Durham.

effingterrified · 25/05/2020 17:36

What about the guy from Derry who received a 4 week sentence for driving 280 miles under lockdown??

vera99 · 25/05/2020 17:37

we find the defendant guilty of the crimes charged, and also these other things he admitted to as part of his not guilty plea

onemorecupofcoffeefortheroad · 25/05/2020 17:37

Stealthpolarbear Exactly!

GrimmsFairytales · 25/05/2020 17:37

There was guidance about what you should have done.

Stay home

Remember, you helped to write it after all.

Belindabelle · 25/05/2020 17:37

What a crock of shit.

HeIenaDove · 25/05/2020 17:37

@Saucery Loads of gaslighting including saying that it wasnt mentioned in his wifes Spectator article that they were in Durham because of his parents house being "targeted" too. WTF His parents house wasnt on the bloody radar until after all this came out

Hypocritical lying gaslighting cunt.

vera99 · 25/05/2020 17:38

A big part of the right-wing establishment has spotted an opportunity to get rid of a liability.

minou123 · 25/05/2020 17:38

Where were these rules about children? I genuinely cant remember seeing it.

I heard it being read out a few times, but where was it printed back in march?

Cailleach1 · 25/05/2020 17:38

Only had CV when he needs to use this situation. When he needs to have a get out he says they were never tested.

effingterrified · 25/05/2020 17:38

We blatantly did not have discretion on how we interpreted the rules. People were fined, sentenced etc for breaking the rules.

One rule for the elite, one rule for the mugs us.

SabrinaThwaite · 25/05/2020 17:38

And whilst I was weighing up the safety of situations I decided to test drive a 60 mile round trip in case my eyes were still not working properly

With my 4 yr old in the car, instead of leaving him in the care of my sister / nieces, which was the entire reason I drove to Durham in the first place.

snowballer · 25/05/2020 17:39

I think this was planned. Get the media to hound him so he then looks like he's being "got at". Then all his supporters can say "can we just get on with what's important and stop this media circus". It has the double benefit of boring everyone into submission if you keep going on and on

wowfudge · 25/05/2020 17:40

Well I cannot imagine any of the last four PMs or Nick Clegg making such a pig's ear of the issue as Boris did yesterday. Today's shit show would not have happened.

JackiFazaki · 25/05/2020 17:41

I need a shower. Back later...
Ironically, had been clearing the drains of shite.

vera99 · 25/05/2020 17:41

Good luck to the anchors trying to summarise this...

onemorecupofcoffeefortheroad · 25/05/2020 17:41

So if I get stopped in my car a long way from home during lockdown by the police asking what I'm doing - I can say I'm testing my eyesight

itsgettingweird · 25/05/2020 17:41

Nope. Don't buy it.

Almost did up until he drove 30 miles to test his eye sight.

Fucking dangerous. Not only for his wife and child but others around him.

I had heard about Cummings before this. Heard about things he had reportedly said. I didn't really have a feeling one way or another about him - I didn't know enough about him.

But I can tell you that story did not give me a good impression.

EmMac7 · 25/05/2020 17:42

It’s obvious he broke the rules to (1) be close to his family, for support (2) to travel to a second home somewhere that felt safer.

Many of us wanted to do that, but the rules he played a part in drafting prohibited it (in spirit, if not letter).

vera99 · 25/05/2020 17:43

Isn't the whole thing basically:

fam getting poorly
oh noez, teh baby! - no babysitters!
leg it up North - spare house and immortal teenagers to teh rescue!
poorliness
poorliness
bit better
trial run with the driving back
ok, back to london

Rinoachicken · 25/05/2020 17:43

So basically, what he’s saying, is that parents can drive any distance in order to access childcare as they see fit.

That is NOT the message they gave the rest of us

snowballer · 25/05/2020 17:44

There was something so striking about the sad trestle table he had to sit at
