After a campaign of fear when they wanted us to stay in, they now want us back o work and school so sad I predicted, the good news stories and it’s safe stories are becoming prevalent. I was told ‘they don’t print good news stories’. There are many ways to brainwash convince the public get to do what you want

Well as I'm only getting 80% of my wages at the moment I could do with the money....where do I sign up?

MintyMabel · 24/05/2020 19:36

Yes, a good way to spot a ‘paid poster’ is if their opinion doesn’t tally with yours

Especially if they are supporting the Conservatives, they’re all paid to come here to sway public opinion too.

BakewellTarts · 24/05/2020 19:40

I think I should be paid...I have lots of opinions happy to share them and I'm sure lots on Mimsnet will disagree with them! Is there a signup thread? Or is this it?

Xenia · 24/05/2020 19:46

I have supported the Tories since 1979 and they have never paid me a penny. I have also been against the lockdown and school closure since day 1. The sooner we lift the lockdown the better for the greater good.

Changedforthisman · 24/05/2020 19:49

Funny there’s lots of paid posters supporting the Government in schools reopening - but none currently posting in support of Cummings. I guess they must be waiting for the memo

ZombieFan · 24/05/2020 19:53

You are just looking in the wrong place. You wont find support for him in a left wing echo chamber.

Fedupwiththemedia · 24/05/2020 19:53

Mabel

Disagree... this is historically and anecdotally a majority left wing site. There are very few Tory voters on here.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 24/05/2020 19:58

You can see all the paid posters on here too, pushing the same line.

I can't even summon the words to express how batshit this is. The obvious and infinitely more plausible explanation is that people are swayed by what they read in the press (and, by now, are utterly fed up with lockdown so embrace 'good news' stories that tally with their personal beliefs).

ramseyspamsey · 24/05/2020 20:01

I think you both mean centrist. When Labour were trying to elect a slightly left-wing leader last year, the general consensus on him on here was very negative. Mumsnetters (in general) may not be tories but they're not left-wing either.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 24/05/2020 20:01

I hate this government and I'm a Labour voter (which can be seen from my past posts). I still want lockdown over and DS back at school. Controversial.

ramseyspamsey · 24/05/2020 20:02

BTW OP your apple link doesn't work for me.

If your point is that the elite group who control both the government and the mainstream media are changing the news narrative to support the government's position then... well, duh!

Toilenstripes · 24/05/2020 20:09

Eh? They’re following the science which shows a decreased level of the virus in our society. Too bad there’s still so much tin foil in the markets.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 24/05/2020 20:10

You're quite right @ZombieFan. All these liberal leftie snowflakes on here, with their 'elf 'n' safety, political correctness gorn mad babblings. Let's look at a proper, sensible objective source like... I know! The Daily Mail! What are they saying...

Boris Johnson was today warned he cannot stonewall demands to sack his right hand man for flouting lockdown rules by travelling to his parents' Durham farm to self-isolate...

The bombshell revelations sparked accusations of hypocrisy with Mr Cummings' position branded 'untenable', and signs of disquiet among Tory MPs.

Dorset police and crime commissioner Martyn Underhill warned this morning that the flagrant breach will be thrown in the face of officers as they tried to restrain sun-seeking visitors on what is expected to be a hot bank holiday weekend.

In a defiant statement this morning, a No10 spokesman said he had not broken any guidelines with the 264-mile trip.

Hmmm. Seems like not much support for him anywhere then?

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 24/05/2020 20:10

where do I sign up?

You send an invoice to JustineMumsnet. They prefer you to just send one month with a breakdown of how many subversive posts you've made. It's £100 a post. I am quids in.

Happy to help Grin

Cam77 · 24/05/2020 20:12

On reading Government advice, ask yourself:

Am I am a selfish, greedy shit?
Do I have a healthy six figure+ bank balance?

If answer is YES to both questions, then follow it the letter.
If answer is NO, to either question, then disregard.

effingterrified · 24/05/2020 20:15

One clear way of spotting the paid posters that they all do a massive pile on and assume I was referring to them personally. Hmm

Grin
greengauges · 24/05/2020 20:23

Yes, well. It's all relative, isn't it? Some people are stupid enough to believe anything. It is beginning to look as though the media is labouring under the assumption that we're all like that.

ZombieFan · 24/05/2020 20:26

The idea that Corbyn is 'slightly' left wing 😅🤣😂🙃😅🤣😂🙃😅🤣😂🙃
MN is more right wing than Corbynism but that is still firmly on the left wing side of the spectrum....echo...echo...echo

ramseyspamsey · 24/05/2020 20:31

Firmly slightly, yes.

Of course those in charge want the masses to believe that Boris is far right and Corbyn is far left though. Makes divide and conquer much easier.

ChicCroissant · 24/05/2020 20:34

I'd like to get paid for posting too, who do I send my application to? Or do we just get an invite?

OP, do you think the press are lying about CV cases then?

VenusTiger · 24/05/2020 20:37

If only there was a family-size pack of biscuits emoji to leave here.

Wtf OP - some people are scared out of their wits and this crisis needs balance - recovery figures and "good news" is EXACTLY WHAT WE ALL NEED - so that we can see a way out, light at the end of the tunnel - a feeling of accomplishment for what we've all had to sacrifice over the last 2 months. Good god!!

itwasntbluedolphin · 24/05/2020 20:45

OP many people are listening to south korean and similar scientists who have expertise re ARDS and are not aligned with any govmt.

I don't fully understand what the scientist in this article is saying - UK has a lot of new daily cases considering how long it has been in supposed lockdown, and numbers are growing in other parts of the world - for example Russia and Brazil currently.

Khione · 24/05/2020 20:48

They've run out of the bad news. Whilst every person that dies is sad, it's very difficult when the figures fall below average levels for the time of year anyway so it is absolutely predictable.

Plus their advertisers in the holiday industry are probably reluctant to pay for advertising in a rag that is predicting doom and gloom and lockdown lasting beyond July (much less 2023) when they want to get the planes flying again.

Changedforthisman · 24/05/2020 20:53

Mumsnet has 119million unique users. It can’t be left or right really with that number of people visiting.

itwasntbluedolphin · 24/05/2020 20:57

But you can check numbers yourself - and find out about the latest scientific developments by scientists around the world - it doesn't matter what the media are saying?

The UK media have been useless throughout, thank goodness for the media in other countries.
