Seen running out of Downing Street
Went to self isolate with his wife in Durham with his parents when he had symptoms
Seems he had his family with him
He stayed with his wife and his parents looked after the children

One rule for us, one rule for him

The statements coming from government ministers are fucking outrageous. Outrageous gaslighting.

The issue of what to do with children if both parents/ or a single parent was sick was discussed repeatedly on here. There were no bloody guidelines! There were no exceptions set out. There was no help given by the government as to how the rules and legislation should be interpreted regarding this really important issue .

So people who suffered through it, who didn't go to their parents- did they just not love their kids enough or something. I'm so fucking angry. What a shower of pricks.

greenlynx · 23/05/2020 12:03

There is a petition already. I don’t know how to post links on mobile.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 23/05/2020 12:10

Not sure why anyone's surprised - they can hardly get rid of him can they?
As a political adviser he's probably got a file a foot thick on the lot of them, and they'll hardly want him writing his memoirs quite yet

whatnametopick · 23/05/2020 12:17

Not read thread yet but he should be sacked, not resign.
The excuse he has given is laughable, there was 2 of them and I'm sure if they got that ill they could have then made alternative arrangements.
What about single parents with more than 1 child and no support? A real us and them move.

B1rdbra1n · 23/05/2020 12:18

He must know the location of a lot of bodies....

B1rdbra1n · 23/05/2020 12:21

Cummings is very emboldened isn't he, he inserts himself into the sage meetings even though he doesn't really have grounds to be there, he feels able to break the rules with impunity
Why does he feel so invincible, what weapons does he have up his sleeve that mean no one can touch him?

chomalungma · 23/05/2020 12:22

The guidelines clearly stated that if you were ill, you should self isolate, and if you were in a house with other people, self isolate within that house.

I can imagine that many people did that - even those who had children.

He should be sacked. His excuse is not ok. How many times did he stop with a four year old on a five hour journey!? How could he drive so far if he was too ill to care for a child? Why was he playing with the child when spotted if someone else was caring for him?

He’s seriously telling us he couldn’t have had food delivered. Cooked meals. A man as well connected and rich as him (his wife’s parents own a castle for goodness sake)

Why did his wife lie that he couldn’t get out of bed for ten days at the time he was doing all this in this article?

www.spectator.co.uk/article/getting-coronavirus-does-not-bring-clarity

Thousands of others looked after their kids while ill.

Why is he allowed to break the rules?

Disgraceful.

Saladmakesmesad · 23/05/2020 12:25

This has genuinely really upset me today. Why am I sitting here like an idiot not seeing my parents for months and managing this shitshow alone when he gets to fucking do as he pleases and the fucking government lies and says it’s fucking fine?!

LadyEloise · 23/05/2020 12:25

How does he have so much power ?
He is unelected.
I'm in Ireland so he and his actions don't really affect me. Oh wait Hmm
Brexit and it's implications for Ireland and the border with Northern Ireland . Sad

GreyGardens88 · 23/05/2020 12:28

I've decided I'm going to start making "unnecessary journeys" from tomorrow onwards. The government obviously doesn't care. Just going to follow my own common sense from now on.

whatnametopick · 23/05/2020 12:30

If Boris doesn't sack him maybe he should be forced out too?

PotholeParadise · 23/05/2020 12:32

There was a thread on Mumsnet a few weeks back from a poster who was struggling to breathe with suspected Coronavirus, single parent, she asked the child to ring 999 who told the boy to ring back if she couldn’t breathe enough to speak!!

One rule for him and one rule for the rest of us!!

I remember that thread. She wanted reassurance that her friend (who had already had it!) wasn't going to get in trouble for coming round to the house to look after her. The school were doing once-a-day welfare phone calls to the child.

And Cummings, aide to the PM, felt he had no other option than to drive across the entire country to someone else's house.

NoHardSell · 23/05/2020 12:34

I don't understand exactly why many of you made so many personal sacrifices but I do think it was a nice thing to do and that you believed your leaders and wanted to protect other people. That's not something to feel bad about. He genuinely did put his parents at risk, alongside strangers. Pretty awful as their risk from covid was of course higher.

Nihiloxica · 23/05/2020 12:35

They should keep Cummings and admit that lockdown has gone on for far too long and of course we should be allowed to visit our families.

vera99 · 23/05/2020 12:36

DO WHAT YOU WANT
NOBODY CARES
MAKE LIES

Puzzledandpissedoff · 23/05/2020 12:38

what weapons does he have up his sleeve that mean no one can touch him?

That's something we may never know. Far better, if he's got dirt to trade, to eke it out to get what he wants over a longer period rather than shoot his bolt by spilling the lot

Though as said, there's always the memoirs to fall back on one day as a retirement fund

TheFairyCaravan · 23/05/2020 12:43

They should keep Cummings and admit that lockdown has gone on for far too long and of course we should be allowed to visit our families.

He shouldn't be kept. His behaviour is a kick in a teeth to all of us. He needs to go

Saladmakesmesad · 23/05/2020 12:45

Article on the BBC about a nurse who hasn’t hugged her 2 year old in 5 weeks.

What a kick in the teeth for her, and for all of us.

B1rdbra1n · 23/05/2020 12:47

People obeyed the guidelines because they trusted the government
We trusted a snake🐍
more fool us🤡

OneOfTheGrundys · 23/05/2020 12:49

What a pity this was released at the weekend and Piers Morgan isn't on breakfast tv to challenge this.
I know, right?
I never, ever thought I’d be considering this 😂

JacobReesMogadishu · 23/05/2020 12:50

Must admit I don’t often watch GMB but thought I’ll be tuning in when it’s on next week to see Piers frothing about this. Will be highly entertaining.

OneOfTheGrundys · 23/05/2020 12:52

He should go. The deceit is sickening.
However, I’m guessing that even if he gets the sack he’ll still be able to continue as an advisor in some way, snaking himself in somehow.

AlovelybitofsquirrelJackie · 23/05/2020 12:53

This has amused me in the midst of this omnishambles.... I'm a key worker in the county he spread himself about so even if I wasn't a vocal anti Cummings squirrel at the best of times I sure would be now. And No 10 implying Durham Constabulary have lied.....

JoeExoticsEyebrowRing · 23/05/2020 12:55

I just believe driving to parents then self isolating in a separate building whilst (I'm presuming) healthy parents care for a very young DC isnt a sackable offence.

It is when your job is to preach to the rest of the country that they are not allowed to do that.

I'm disgusted you are defending this to be honest. Like I said, what if everyone who got symptoms (or in Cummings case haven't even got symptoms yet apparently) did this 'just in case'? Loads of people have been in Cummings position and they haven't been allowed to do this, so why is he allowed?

They think we are absolute mugs.
