Nicola Sturgeon has stated she will outline a 4 phase plan to ease lockdown restrictions at the briefing today at 12.30.

Do we think a possible ease on meeting up with 1 other person. Really struggling with lockdown now but i 100% know why we're doing it. Any thoughts?

Tennis and garden centres is all I'm expecting.

I really hope it's a full plan (like Ireland's) but I'm not holding out much hope. I think it'll be quite like the Welsh traffic lights.

FedHimtoTigers1990 · 21/05/2020 12:10

Tennis and garden centres would be disappointing.
What is the big deal with garden centres.

Blueraccoon · 21/05/2020 12:14

Don’t forget recycling centres and golf.

Sexnotgender · 21/05/2020 12:17

Annoyingly my next door neighbour is a policy maker for the Scottish government and so knows exactly what’s coming but was being horribly professional and wouldn’t even give a hint😏

Tropical2 · 21/05/2020 12:23

I think garden centres, fishing, golf courses and recycling centres will reopen. I think we will be allowed to meet one other person, outside, 2m apart as per England. After yesterday's pictures of Portobello beach picnics, BBQ's and sunbathing will still be banned.

DivGirl · 21/05/2020 12:37

Typical - the website crashed within seconds of her saying it was on there.

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 21/05/2020 12:45

Has anyone else watched it? Sounds like sunbathing will be ok possibly.

Also recycling.
Also bowling.

Something for everyone?

FedHimtoTigers1990 · 21/05/2020 12:52

Yes i missed where it said we are allowed to do phase 1 from?

DivGirl · 21/05/2020 12:53

From the 28th, I believe.

FedHimtoTigers1990 · 21/05/2020 12:55

Thanks @divgirl

Did she say anything about schools please.

SockYarn · 21/05/2020 12:58

She's just announced exactly what the UK government announced for England last week. Exactly the same things.

And loads of woolly stuff around "blended learning" between home and school for August without any clarity on what that might actually mean.

Hugely disappointed. How much money has been spent putting together a 40 odd page pdf document which is just a rewriting of one already produced?

DivGirl · 21/05/2020 12:58

Schools opening from August (11th), but with a blended learning model.

trumpisaflump · 21/05/2020 12:59

Schools open 11th August part time. How do we work when our kids are only in part time?

Mightymurphy · 21/05/2020 13:00

Thanks. I though she might have done something for p7 induction to high school. Seems not.

FedHimtoTigers1990 · 21/05/2020 13:00

She said in June, teachers etc may return and prepare classrooms? . Critical childcare will be made available through the summer months. I assume from this no schools will be returning before summer.

OP posts:
SockYarn · 21/05/2020 13:01

Who knows, Trump? No guidance whatsoever. At least Boris stated which year groups would go back.

It will just be left to schools or local Authorities to decide on their own arrangements for each school, so that Nicola can deny all liability when 2021's attainment figures go through the floor.

SockYarn · 21/05/2020 13:02

She said that arrangements for transition into P1 and S1 would be made "where appropriate".

What she defines as appropriate, or who is defining appropriate, was not stated.

unappreciativeoh · 21/05/2020 13:04

So schools are reopening in August which is basically what she’s said from day 1. ‘Access to childcare’ throughout the summer - no idea what that means?

I just need to hope my boss is willing to work with parents and allow us to work from home until the kids go back properly.

DivGirl · 21/05/2020 13:04

I wonder what "critical childcare" is. I need childcare so I can work, but I work remotely (100% home based) and I'm about as far from a keyworker as you can get.

BoingBoingyBoing · 21/05/2020 13:06

"Hugely disappointed. How much money has been spent putting together a 40 odd page pdf document which is just a rewriting of one already produced?"

What exactly where you expecting? The measures are, of course going to largely be the same because it's the same problem being dealt with. Besides which, there are differences if you look into the details.

At the very least she delivered the message with some degree of authority instead of that fucking clown down south.

unappreciativeoh · 21/05/2020 13:07

Phase 3 for hairdressers. Please let that be in the next couple of months Grin

SockYarn · 21/05/2020 13:10

It's all far too woolly. No specifics. Phrases like "blended approach" to education - what the fuck does that actually mean? 10% of time in school? mornings? week one, week off? How are people supposed to plan for being in work with such little detail?

I am no Boris fan. But he was clear about which year groups were going back, and on which date.

avroroad · 21/05/2020 13:14

I am no Boris fan. But he was clear about which year groups were going back, and on which date.

Since that was announced by Boris half the parents have said they won't be sending the kids back anyway. So he may have been clear, but it isn't working out.

We will obviously get more information closer to the time and then decisions can be made.

unappreciativeoh · 21/05/2020 13:14

It’s definitely wishy washy!
