Furlough madness

Surely I'm not the only one who thinks this furlough scheme, whilst deserving of some merit, is far too generous? At 80% there is little to encourage people to return to work since this other 20% is accounted for by the savings in petrol, coffees and other work related daily expenditure.
This has all got to be paid for remember.

I mean... what’s the alternative? People aren’t being furloughed because they cba to work, it’s because they can’t. If people aren’t paid enough it would equate to families being hit so much harder by this and experiencing way more financial hardship, which can affect children badly... I’m not sure what you’d suggest?

@Katykitten2 shocking my post gets deleted calling you exactly what you are, but people like you are allowed to continue spreading nastiness towards those furloughed on here, many of whom are struggling enough without being demonized for things beyond their control. You're a terrible person.

It’s not perfect but the country has never been in this situation before and something had to be done to prevent millions from losing their jobs.

@Katykitten2 "Thank you See99 and if those on furlough can't manage on 80% of their earnings then they will be in for a big shock on Universal Credit."

The smug attitude makes me sick. Clearly you have no idea what its like or even a shred of empathy in you. Despicable.

Perhaps I work for the DM?

So the Chancellor has announced he's 'asking' businesses to pay NI and AE contributions. Ask he amy but most firms will now start redundancy proceedings as this is just another cost, on top of furlough pay accruing holiday pay at the full rate, they can ill afford.

I'm furloughed. And spend most of yesterday in tears as got a letter from my employer implying i might not get back for a few months yet. Also spend the night I was told I was being furloughed in tears. I enjoy my job. My work hasn't closed but due to a lack of work coming in due to covid 19 furloughed about 80% of staff.

The alternative would have been redundancy, which could have finished the business off meaning everyone employed there would have lost their job.

It's certainly not a holiday. I am worried about money. Thankfully it looks like my oh might get back in the next couple of weeks which will help a little. But as others have said, food costs have risen as have electricity costs.

I am seriously worried about redundancy. The longer this goes on, the higher the chance I won't return to my job, and not by choice.

The very second I am told to return to work, I will be there. I can only hope it's soon, but not looking likely.

well whatever @Katykitten2 - i'm furloughed, have worked my ass off in this Country for the last 10 years paying all my tax - so i'm bloody entitled to it!! I am going back to work on the 1st of June and I'm going to enjoy my last few weeks off in the sun ! I feel really grateful that the Government paid me during this time and that my job company is able to reopen and I can get back to work!

Without Furlough the business would hae most definitley not survived and 26 of us would have been going on benefits and no longer paying any tax! That would have been better for the economy wouldn't it?

You sound really jealous and bitter to be honest -

The UK isn't exactly a poor Country either - they can afford this - they always find money when the banks need to bailed out!

Apparently Katykitten2 is giving us a "reality warning". Why she felt the need to let me know via private message and not put it on here is anybody's guess because those of us on furlough know the reality thanks very much.

I’d just cut and paste the message into this thread. Just so we can all learn the realit🤷‍♀️

Ah, now I remember the OP now, she also sent me a message a couple of weeks ago. I didn't bother engaging but it was something along the lines of "I feel for you because you're in for a shock" regarding my furlough situation.

I'm very curious as to what exactly the OP thinks those who are furloughed should do about the fact that they are furloughed and can't just go back to work? Is she not intelligent enough to realise that furloughed individuals are well aware that their jobs are at risk - she seems to think that she's the only one who's 'in the know'.

Or is she just so miserable that she feels the need to try to terrorise people for her own amusement, both on this thread and in personal messages?

Warning from what redundancy? The economy?
Redundancy is a possibility and the economy collapsing is not the furloughed staff fault in fact we are helping by spending money . If we had all lost our jobs there would be no money spent .

KaptenKrusty WTF??????? seriously you think you are 'bloody entitled' to it after ONLY working for 10 years I have worked my ass off in the |Country and paid in for 50 years the word 'entitled' isn't even in my vocabulary, attitudes like yours 'I have paid in and entitled to take out' stinks , I don't agree with the OPs statement but I totally disagree with your own views.
