New thread,

I won't be a very good host as I tend to dip in and out of these things but have filled up the last thread. (Sorry)

@baroqueandblue Thank you! I’m going to try that and take my tablet now instead x

TheWooisStrong · 23/05/2020 20:59

My last relapse was before/at the start of my period. I wonder if there’s a common underlying factor...
For the last couple of days I’ve been on the mend again. I started taking some iron supplements as quite a few of my symptoms seemed to match anaemia symptoms, and I’m now bouncing full of energy. It may be a coincidence but I’m happy feeling better and hoping that was the last of it.

KatySun · 23/05/2020 21:37

Thank you all hollie , godhelpusall , moomin and Tiddletaddletat for the kind words, and I hope I did not miss anyone. It is so hard and yes, let’s hope for a better day tomorrow.

I think maybe you are right Tiddle about thinking about it as a relapse, I had been thinking this last couple of days that I am just not going to get better.

In terms of what causes them, I do not know. I started to do some work last week, but only a couple of hours in the morning and then I was so exhausted in the afternoons I was back to falling asleep on the sofa. I was finding it really painful in my chest and back to sit at my computer and today I could not find anyway comfortable to sit or lie at all.

Interesting you say that about your period, and iron TheWooisstrong as I was wondering about anaemia. I took some iron after I posted earlier and will make sure to do that every day. I am taking a multi-vitamin and D3.

Okay, bed. I wish you all a good night and thank you truly for the kind words Flowers

JaggedHedge · 23/05/2020 23:41

Hi everyone
I've only posted here a couple of times but pop in and out occasionally.
Not having a great week 9 so far, and I think it's because I'm trying to do too much.

Godhelpusall your link was very timely Smile

I've got all manner of immune shit - endometriosis, underactive thyroid, hayfever, etc. My family is full of coeliacs and asthmatics.

I've got the Abbot test & will stab myself & send it back on Tuesday. Haven't told anyone in RL except DP that I'm taking it.

Flowers to everyone and those who are up and about...don't do too much this weekend!

TiddleTaddleTat · 24/05/2020 09:29

@TheWooisStrong my current relapse started the day before my period and about a week later I'm still feeling like I've been hit by a bus. I noticed last month it had the same pattern. Apparently immunity is lower at this time due to hormonal effects, so there could be something in it.

TiddleTaddleTat · 24/05/2020 09:30

I've been offered a test via the covid study app thing. I've been unwell since mid March, but I guess if it's a home test I may as well try.

KatySun · 24/05/2020 09:36

That is interesting Tiddle I am glad they are looking at the long term cases (although I am sorry that you are in this bracket!)

Mittens030869 · 24/05/2020 10:28

Thank you for the link, godhelpusall. It explains so much for me. It's discouraging for me, as I already had Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (because of the pneumonia last year. I wasn't particularly well in the first place.

I hope things will start to improve for us as we listen to our bodies.

pinkoneblueone · 24/05/2020 10:38

Week 11 today has begun. Did anyone have the return of the metallic taste in their mouths at this point?

OP posts:
hollieberrie · 24/05/2020 10:40

Morning all,
Hope everyone is ok, Big hugs for those who are feeling poorly. I am still dizzy but a little brighter today so far.. heart racing has stopped.
Is anyone else feeling secretly a bit jealous/ angry that we caught this and so many others didn't? I do feel quite hard done by. None of my friends have been ill at all.

godhelpusall · 24/05/2020 10:47

@pinkoneblueone my son has this every couple of weeks. I get a mint taste

Lightsabre · 24/05/2020 11:05

@hollieberrie, I feel very unlucky as I don't know anyone else with it including many of my work colleagues who have other health issues. It's also difficult to keep on explaining to family, friends and colleagues why I'm not 'better yet'. I'm becoming more socially withdrawn as a result as I just don't have the energy to keep explaining it.

Needsomegoodnews · 24/05/2020 11:07

Approaching 10 weeks, a few good days but this morning the sternum and upper back pain is back and breathing, while not bad is definitely not quite right again. It’s so depressing how it comes and goes. @hollieberrie yes, absolutely - I also don’t directly know anyone else affected just lots of people either enjoying their ‘free time’ or complaining of juggling schooling children with work while I’m having to do that while also feeling crap (work, while expressing sympathy also failed to arrange anyone else to do my work so I’ve still had to do it whenever I can, often when I shouldn’t be). I feel guilty as I know many have had it worse and people keep saying ‘at least you weren’t in hospital’. But as a result, most of us haven’t had any real treatment.

AndsLee · 24/05/2020 11:08

Can I ask those that felt they dipped during their period...do/did you feel as if you were having an allergic reaction? I've had a snorey groggy throat, rash on my chest and stingy eyes...

Needsomegoodnews · 24/05/2020 11:10

@lightsabre yes there’s a real difficulty getting people to realise you can be ‘better’ one day and look fine on a zoom chat but the next are having another dip.

Egghead68 · 24/05/2020 11:12

Morning. Day 64/65. Quite sinusy and my chest is a bit tight but otherwise OK. Taken 2 paracetamol and an extra antihistamine and hoping it calms down.

@AndsLee yes and often antihistamine help. Sometimes I wonder if it is hay fever.

AndsLee · 24/05/2020 11:12

@hollieberrie @Lightsabre
My feelings are a strange mix - grateful and lucky, but also unlucky about the timing because we've fallen into a limbo...
Does that make any sense? Confused

Linus1972 · 24/05/2020 11:16

@hollieberrie that's good your heart racing has stopped - that's a horrible symptom. I know what you mean about feeling a bit jealous/angry. When I'm having a bad moment (usually due to pain) I think "why me?" and it feels like the odds of a) catching it and then b) having this drawn-out reaction are so small that it just shouldn't be happening. There's nothing particularly special about me. It's difficult to see other people outside, getting on with their lives. And I even find it difficult to think back to things I did before this mess started. It's like I'm most envious of my previous self if that makes sense, all the things I took for granted and all the stupid stuff I worried about. In January I paid to have a tiny facial cyst removed. It left an even tinier scar and I spent the whole month worrying that it had affected my looks. Honestly! What I'd give to be just have that to worry about.

Measured my blood pressure this morning and it was a normal looking 122/79 (it's been on average 145/95 these past couple of months). I've been put on a low dose of medication for it for the last three weeks but am only now starting to see a move in the right direction. I don't know if the virus caused it to go up or whether it was like that all along. After a night of difficulty sleeping and breathing (hayfever?) it's a bit of good news. About once a fortnight I get SOB and have to breath through my mouth all night. No idea why but it seems to correlate with whenever I try those deep breathing exercises the day before.

AndsLee · 24/05/2020 11:16

@Egghead68 Thank you! I actually tried an antihistamine a couple of days ago but it didn't touch it. Maybe I will try two. Completely new sensation for me, never had any allergies before...

I almost feel like I am allergic to myself... I suppose I am...?

KatySun · 24/05/2020 11:19

pinkoneblueone I noticed the metallic taste last night really strongly.

emoojoo · 24/05/2020 11:21

Just reading through briefly, hi all.
@pinkoneblueone for me I think the metallic taste appears when my electrolytes are low, I take a drink of those when I get that (a rehydration drink, or coconut water, or a banana) and I drink that at night too as it seems to help.
@andslee my last period came when I was about 7.5-8 weeks with a big dip for me and the 3 days or so before it arrived it felt very much like an allergic reaction with burning skin, rash, headache, high hr and temperature. It eased once my period arrived. I'm on close watch as the time is near again but I don't think it feels like happening this time fingers crossed.
Thanks to everyone struggling along at all stages x

AndsLee · 24/05/2020 11:23

@Linus 1972 Good to hear your BP is dropping! Can I ask, is it in your throat that you feel is causing your breathing difficulties?

AndsLee · 24/05/2020 11:28

@emoojoo

Thank you for your reply. Having read through your previous posts I feel your experience has been the most similar to mine. I've had this "allergy" sensation for a few days now during the visit from the monthy friend. But boy have they visited...which is interesting because I had no visit last month.

Mittens030869 · 24/05/2020 11:30

@Linus1972 I really know what you mean. I'm trying not to give into self-pity, but it's very difficult when I find myself puking up things I never had a problem eating before. And when I wake up with a chest pain and play temperature still goes up.

I'm sorry it's like that for you as well. It helps to know there are others who understand, though I'm sad too, as I wouldn't wish this on anyone else. ThanksThanksThanks

Linus1972 · 24/05/2020 11:42

@AndsLee yes, yesterday my throat felt constricted when breathing. I was blaming taking ibuprofen as it seemed to come on immediately after I'd taken one but then I got it later at various points throughout the day. I was sneezing a bit last night and my eyes were watery. I usually get bad hayfever around this time and so am wondering whether my hayfever is showing up a bit differently this year due to being on top of virus/post-virus(?) symptoms. I took an anti-histamine first thing this morning and it's not too bad so far today. Although as usual with this virus, if it's not one thing, it's something else. I had awful acid reflux for about an hour in my windpipe after breakfast. I'd given up on anti-acids for the last week as they were causing gas/bloating and now the acid is back. So, back to the ant-acids...
