New thread,

I won't be a very good host as I tend to dip in and out of these things but have filled up the last thread. (Sorry)

Needing the loo (waking up to go for a 2) sinuses have gunk in them as does my throat. My chest and lungs feel a bit numb and a bit sore in the parts that aren't numb, had a nap earlier (only managed 45 mins) felt week and dizzy on waking this morning takes me about an hour to actually get out of bed. I have had a sore throat this week and a feeling of something stuck at the bottom of my windpipe but I coughed that out yesterday.

pinkoneblueone · 22/05/2020 22:31

Also my appetite has gone again and I am very windy

@Whatnext2018 what week are you on?

OP posts:
Whatnext2018 · 22/05/2020 22:41

I ‘Think’ around week 9-11, I can’t be too sure as I remember having hot flushes and a tight chest before any kind of lockdown or anything started around my dp’s birthday start of March. If so, that would be around 11 weeks ago, a couple of weeks after that I remember feeling quite ill. The tight chest and flushing stopped ages ago (touch wood) now the ‘Symptoms’ are odder though! 🤷‍♀️Which week are you? What has been your timeline of symptoms to compare? (Sorry if I’ve missed them over the thread)

pinkoneblueone · 22/05/2020 22:44

I am on week 10 they are just up the thread a little. It seems to be never ending atm I so thought I'd be better by now.

I feel like I had weeks in between where I was ok though and since the middle of last week I’ve started having bizarre symptoms

pinkoneblueone · 22/05/2020 22:46

Yes I have been exactly the same I don't understand it at all.

OP posts:
Whatnext2018 · 22/05/2020 22:46

@pinkoneblueone Has it become worse for you recently? Did you also have weeks where you were generally okay?

Whatnext2018 · 22/05/2020 22:48

I have the thing in the throat also but it’s more of an occasional sort of stabbing there, if that makes sense. For a long time it felt as though my throat was full.

pandarific · 22/05/2020 22:53

Hi all, I feel a bit silly asking, but I'm not sure if I had cv back in late feb/early March. The symptoms aren't what's been reported really, I kept calling it a really weird cold - I had a runny nose, BANGING headaches which came from nowhere, was thirsty, and absolute exhaustion hit in the afternoons, I was good for nothing at work from about 2pm. Then I developed a really stiff neck, I remember walking down the road and wincing in pain, it felt like the base of my skull was being shocked with each step I took - really hurt!

Now I've been for a blood test and have a gp appointment for next week because my lymph nodes under my jaw either side are both enlarged, in the afternoons I become aware of them throbbing and feel my throat / ear canals start to tingle as if I'm getting a cold... but nothing develops.

I know these are really weird symptoms, not sure if they are similar to anyone who's had non typically presenting CV, or if it was just some other weird virus - my sons childminders did have hand foot and mouth which I thought it could be, but the only thing I had similar to that was one red dot on my hand!

Idk, this is a bit of a ramble really, am a bit freaked out in case it turns out I have something really serious, so in a way am hoping it's a bit of a post viral thing.

Whatnext2018 · 22/05/2020 23:00

@pandarific Hi, I’ve had the stiff neck for over a week now, on and off sneezing throughout, swollen glands too. I came on here out of curiosity as haven’t ever had the bad cough or high temp (have had hot flushes but never measured as a high temp) I was pretty amazed to see lots of odd, similar symptoms from others.

Whatnext2018 · 22/05/2020 23:05

Does anyone know the prediction for how long it will actually last?

Also, have any of you had advice from docs on how to help fight it? Or what do you do that helps? I started taking vit D3 abd Vit C with zinc a few weeks ago, plus probiotics and including more veg, fruit etc, although we do eat v healthily the majority of the time anyway. I try to sit in the sun without suncream for an hour a day and try to walk in nature if possible. I’ve only had one glass of wine since all this, was around Easter on a lovely, hot day, but that evening I had palpitations and a hot fizzy feeling all through my body for a long time, so I’ve been too scared to drink since.

Egghead68 · 22/05/2020 23:17

@Whatnext2018 yes. Two doctors told me to “exercise as much as I can”. A third doctor, when I said this was making me worse said “well build up slowly but do a little bit more everyday”. I now regard this advice as unhelpful. The helpful advice I have had from doctors is “rest, drink a lot, give up caffeine, do yoga”.

TiddleTaddleTat · 22/05/2020 23:19

As it's a novel virus info is still emerging but GP was clear with me today that there is evidence that a significant proportion of people continue to have symptoms weeks and months after the initial infection. These people have usually had a mild initial infection.
@Whatnext2018 sounds like you're doing a great deal already. I'm not managing as much as that, just a standard multivitamin on days that I remember and an occasional green smoothie. Caffeine and alcohol intake has crept up and is something I need to reduce. Eating lots of veg yes , but also sugary snacks due to the fatigue.

TiddleTaddleTat · 22/05/2020 23:21

@Egghead68 fortunately my Gp said to be careful of too much exercise. Gentle walks , but she also emphasised lots of fresh air, even if just sitting outside. And sleep. As much as possible. I've definitely noticed by body needing more than usual and find it difficult to get up, even after 8 hours of rest.

This is my opinion as a non-medical professional. I believe that what we are experiencing is post-viral as detailed studies from Korea are making it almost certain that the virus in us is long dead. There are various post-viral conditions that we can be experiencing, chest wall inflammation (which includes costochondritis and pleurisy), post-viral fatigue syndrome, pericarditis. It's also a case that people who have recently had a respiratory infection can be more susceptible to the effects of hayfever. There are also people with scarring to organs, blood clots or who have a secondary bacterial infection. So first off, people should talk to their doctor and get tests done if they haven't already.

If you have had those tests but no specific diagnosis, the best thing to do is to work out what post-viral conditions fit your symptoms. While the after effects of Covid 19 are too new to know much about and how to recover from. We do know a lot more about post-viral syndromes. For me, with pleurisy and costochondritis, sore throats/lump in throat, heartburn, etc it's chest wall inflammation, with a touch of hayfever. Chestwall inflammation can take several months to heal fully. So that's what I'm working off. I'm treating it with rest, as much walking as I can handle without a relapse and anti-inflammatories as needed.

pinkoneblueone · 23/05/2020 01:56

I think some of my symptoms have been brought on by health anxiety. I am getting some treatment but it’s going to take time to fix it. I don’t think I’ve ever been so poorly and I am struggling a lot with it

MillStone · 23/05/2020 08:55

Morning all, hope you had restful nights.

@pinkoneblueone I feel the same, I’ve been suffering with mental health issues for years and this has really knocked me down. I hope your treatment is helping.

Does anyone else still get tremors?

I am waking in the night with SOB and body tremors. I wake feeling disorientated and shivering. I had this with sweats in the first 2 weeks but now 6 weeks later it’s returned without the temp or sweats.

Ernieshere · 23/05/2020 08:59

@pandarific
I had exactly the same symptoms at the same time as you.
I am still wheezy, fatigued and feel very ropey.

I still have constant tinnitus as well.

hollieberrie · 23/05/2020 08:59

Morning all
Day 72 and I think I'm having a bit of a relapse. I could feel it coming on yesterday and this morning i'm worse. All the usual symptoms. Gutted. Hope everyone is doing ok.

Ernieshere · 23/05/2020 09:02

Also, sorry if this has been posted many times already, I haven't read back,

Valsemove · 23/05/2020 09:08

Hello all

Posting this in haste as baby-wrangling currently!

I'm struggling with reflux and heartburn currently (apart from a bit of chest wall inflammation it's pretty much my only symptom) but don't want to go on omeprazole, which has been prescribed by GP. From today I'm trying a bland diet and avoiding common triggers to see if that helps. Also cutting out my usual supplements for a few days, Just in case.

Anyhow, I know quite a few of us are dealing with reflux/GERD/heartburn, some for the first time like me. And I found this online. Very interesting, I thought:

Inflammation, Not Acid, Cause of GERD, Study Suggests

www.medscape.com/viewarticle/863413

Valsemove · 23/05/2020 09:17

Although it does say "
"the inciting pathophysiology is unquestionably the reflux of gastric and duodenal secretions into the esophagus", so seems acid does still play a major part. Still, seems cytokines and immune-related inflammation play a bigger part in GERD than first thought.

hollieberrie · 23/05/2020 09:20

Thanks @Valsemove That looks interesting. Am also struggling with GERD / heartburn - first time in my life too. It burns all the way down to my stomach.
