New thread,

I won't be a very good host as I tend to dip in and out of these things but have filled up the last thread. (Sorry)

Happy birthday @Linus1972

I have news. My anybody test came back and was positive. Am so relieved.

fedupofbed · 23/05/2020 13:01

Happy Birthday @Linus1972 !!

Valsemove · 23/05/2020 13:02

Happy Birthday @Linus1972 ! Lovely idea with your birthday cards. Hope you enjoy savouring them throughout the day Smile

Lightsabre · 23/05/2020 13:07

@hollieberrie, that's great news! At least you know this is all definitely post viral for you. Can you remind me which one yoiu took please and was it a private finger prick one?

Valsemove · 23/05/2020 13:12

@AndsLee Thank you for the link - interesting findings and quite reassuring for you too I imagine to know that your current reflux medication is a H2 antagonist. Another little thing in your arsenal, so to speak.

hollieberrie · 23/05/2020 13:13

Thanks @Lightsabre
I'm still feeling really rough so this has given me a little boost
It was the Abbott test but I did it at a private gp practice so that took blood form a vein. I'm too squeamish to have done it myself at home from my finger.
I'll try to attach my result

@hollieberrie I am so relieved for you x

fedupofbed · 23/05/2020 13:24

Yes that's great news @hollieberrie . Can I ask when you first showed symptoms? Sorry you're still feeling rough.

Still waiting for my results... exasperating as I know they're back but waiting for the consultant's letter.

hollieberrie · 23/05/2020 13:28

Thanks all, this is such a kind and supportive thread.

I'm delighted but unfortunately having an awful day for earache and dizziness. My first symptoms were mid March and I had a massive relapse early April.

@fedupofbed How annoying! Can you chase them? I guess not til Tuesday now.

Moominmamma33 · 23/05/2020 14:13

@Linus1972 happy birthday! Great news @hollieberrie, sorry you're having a setback at the moment though. Hope you hear back soon @fedupofbed.

alittleprivacy · 23/05/2020 14:45

Happy birthday @Linus1972

That's super news @hollieberrie. It sucks that you are having a relapse but amazing that you have a confirmed diagnosis. And even though it says not to assume immunity, the more and more studies that are being done, the more it looks like there is actually really good mid-term immunity for survivors. Obviously don't take any chances but the likelihood is that you will be safe from Covid infection quite a while now.

But who knows? I've wondered for a while if there's a trait that ties all of us here together somehow,

I've read a theory that it could be related to auto-immune issues. I had/have endometriosis, which is auto-immune, so that could be causing an immune overreaction? I'm having a few days of enforced rest. I don't think I'm having a relapse as such but I think I was getting warning signs that one was on the horizon, so I cut down my steps from 12,000 to 3,000 for the last few days and I'm not going to take any walk today. I was teaching DS a dance step earlier and felt my heart start to race so I'm having a bed day.

Whatnext2018 · 23/05/2020 14:50

Happy birthday @Linus1972!

Can I just ask you all what your blood tests were testing for? Just looking at mine now (doctor will go over them on Monday) and it looks like there are tests for diabetes, liver function, blood clotting ability, cholesterol, liver and C-proteins (infections I think?)
I went to her complaining of pains in legs, especially at night, dizziness etc

Whatnext2018 · 23/05/2020 14:52

I did completely freak out after she said blood tests were first to rule anything out, then that it could be muscular-sore neck, back and legs. Lastly she mentioned a head scan when I said about the tingling in the face. But she said this is further down the line. That part really scared me, I’m not sure what I’m expecting the blood tests to show really.

fedupofbed · 23/05/2020 15:02

@alittleprivacy I wondered about autoimmune issues too as I have coeliacs (and possibly sjogrens though inconclusive). Very sensible to be having a rest day!

@Whatnext2018 I don't know exactly what I've been tested for as results were all given to me verbally but I think heart, kidneys, liver, thyroid, B12, d-dimer, white blood cell count. All were fine apart from slightly raised white blood cells. I think they also retested me for coeliacs early on because of the GI symptoms. I'm still waiting for a couple more to come through - vit D levels and CRP.

Moodgie · 23/05/2020 15:08

@hollieberrie Great news about the antibody test!

Ernieshere · 23/05/2020 15:10

Has anyone had Glandular Fever before?

I had it a few years ago, and it took me nearly 3 years to recover from the fatigue, the virus will always show up in future blood tests I believe.

I read a lot of patients in Wuhan also tested positive for Glandular Fever/Epstein Barr Virus.

Although I must say that the fatigue from this virus has hit me harder, it's more intense, unless I have forgotten how bad it was with G.F?

Linus1972 · 23/05/2020 15:16

Thanks for all the birthday wishes. DH has just made a batch of scones so we're having them with some jam someone sent me.

@hollieberrie that's great news, thanks for sharing it with us all.

@Ernieshere I'm pretty sure I had glandular fever when I was 18 although it was never diagnosed. My DH may have had it around 8 years ago and was laid up for 3 months (although he recovered from this virus in a few days).

Needsomegoodnews · 23/05/2020 15:32

Happy birthday @Linus1972 - hope you get to enjoy some treats!

Great to hear you had a positive test @hollieberrie - some reassurance that even though it's rubbish having drawn out symptoms you know why (and hopefully some protection from reinfection). Since quite a few people who thing they've had it seem to be getting negative antibody tests, it's good to see at least some with similar symptoms have positive tests. It's interesting that you had a clinic blood test, same as @findingschools4myboys I think, who is the only other I can think of on here who has had a positive antibody test. It does suggest that the home tests might be less accurate as per the article someone shared the other day.

The autoimmune suggestion is interesting. I have a wheat allergy off the back of some weird allergic reactions as a child, which were never really pinned down to anything specific except a hyperactive immune system. No other underlying conditions and have never had glandular fever.

godhelpusall · 23/05/2020 15:42

I am feeling a bit ill again after a good week and really depressed. Is this ever going to end? So glad to hear your news @hollieberrie - I think that would cheer me up.

KatySun · 23/05/2020 15:51

Happy birthday Linus

I am having a really rubbish day, my chest and back hurt such that I cannot get comfortable and I feel really flu-ey. Legs also tingly which is a new symptom. So tired of this now. Day 64 since I started coughing. It struck me I might need to take iron as I am sometimes anaemic.

I am supposed to be starting on a phased return back to work next week.

Valsemove · 23/05/2020 15:55

@hollieberry Great news about your positive antibody test! It sucks indeed to go through this, but at least you have some answers now and as others have said, some likely reassurance of immunity for the time being (though of course we all need to continue taking the usual precautions). I imagine it will ease your path in the future too if seeking further tests etc.

@godhelpusall Sorry to hear you are feeling poorly again. There are so many ups and downs with this aren't there. Are you able to get plenty of rest at the moment? I find the trick is to catch myself when I'm faltering again and then make sure I rest a bit more. If it makes you feel any better, I'm feeling a bit rubbish today after a good few days as well. Mainly due to heartburn/reflux.

pinkoneblueone · 23/05/2020 15:58

Happy Birthday @Linus1972!

Lightsabre · 23/05/2020 16:04

@Crayfishforyou, how are you getting on?

Valsemove · 23/05/2020 16:04

Re. auto immune conditions - Years ago I was diagnosed by a hospital consultant as having Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) but have managed it through diet ever since. My hormone levels have nearly always shown up as normal on blood tests; also, almost zero cysts showing on ultrasound. I am also very slim. I haven't had fertility issues. So I show up in many ways as a non-PCOS-er. But I have had a diagnosis from when my symptoms were more apparent, and from a cursory look just now, there is a view that PCOS can be labelled an auto-immune disorder.

@alittleprivacy how many days / weeks are you now? Interesting about the endo, I have adenomyosis and wasn’t wondering if there’s a link. Both my big relapses have been around PMT/period time.

Day 73 here and still not great. I had two good weeks from around day 55-68 and then went downhill again this week. Mainly lymph node (underarm) pain, muscle aches, spiking fevers and proper exhaustion and palpitations again. Lungs and chest better than they were but still a little achey. I’m hardly doing anything now but still feel rough and getting fed up.

@Linus1972 happy birthday!

My parents have just been over to see us (from outside, we stayed in!) and it was so so lovely. just a short visit but so lovely and I felt happy and sad resllt to see them. We should have all been on holiday together this week but I guess at least we are alive!

@hollieberrie great news on your test result. Some reassurance!
