New thread,

I won't be a very good host as I tend to dip in and out of these things but have filled up the last thread. (Sorry)

Does anyone remember some posters who haven’t been on for a while? I’m desperate for some positive stories.
@WorriesomeDad?

Whatnext2018 · 20/05/2020 11:47

Hi all,
For six days I’ve had numbness in cheeks and jaw and a strange feeling around my teeth and mouth. It’s all tingly then feels numb. Has anyone else had this? It’s really starting to scare me now as when I read up on it, it talks about issues with the head. Just want all this to stop 😪

starlilly88 · 20/05/2020 11:59

My Covid 19 antibody test came back positive. Not surprised, and I expect most people on here would be positive too. The chances of picking up a virus with weird and long lasting symptoms right now, and it not being Covid, are very low

Egghead68 · 20/05/2020 12:05

@MillStone I’ve asked then if they can change it and they said they will try. I think attempting to walk that far could cause me to relapse badly (I would have run it without thinking about it not so long ago!).

@starlilly88 I am so pleased for you it was positive - hopefully you will have a degree of immunity now. Can I ask how long after first symptoms you were tested and whether it was the Abbott test?

Egghead68 · 20/05/2020 12:08

@Moodgie a few long-term posters haven’t been around. I am really hoping this means they are now more or less better.

starlilly88 · 20/05/2020 12:11

@Egghead68

I first had symptoms on 25th March so it's been 8 weeks. It was the Abbott one so 99.63% reliable

Norugratsatall · 20/05/2020 12:13

@starlilly88 that's good news! Strangest sort of good news ever but reassuring I guess.

@Egghead68 gosh that's madness! Can you ask for it to be transferred to the hospital across the road? Given you're shielding.

Did anyone see the Horizon prog last night? I didn't but my sister (a HCP) did and she said it was interesting. She thinks I'm having some sort of cerebral viral response. Not sure if that translates as' it's in your brain'.

Moodgie · 20/05/2020 12:18

@starlilly88 Please, could you let us know what your symptoms were and for him long and what the most lingering ones were? Also are you completely well now? Thank you.

starlilly88 · 20/05/2020 12:24

@Moodgie

Mine started off with terrible muscle aches, low level temp. Then slight sore throat and blocked nose. Then a bit of sneezing but not cold like, then loss of taste and smell and weird pain behind nose but not sinusitis. Then terrible headaches and a wheezy chest. But no proper cough or chest pain. Also lack of appetite throughout. The body aches lasted 2.5 weeks and probably the worst part for me. Still getting a dry feeling behind nose, mainly at night when tired.

Egghead68 · 20/05/2020 12:25

Thanks @starlilly88. Someone posted this about the Abbott test on another thread, in case of interest. Seems it may be less sensitive after 40 days, bizarrely:
assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/886158/PHE_Evaluation_of_Abbott_SARS_CoV_2_IgG.pdf

I will try to watch the Horizon programme - thanks for the heads up @Norugratsatall (and they said they will try to move my appointments, 🤞).

Lightsabre · 20/05/2020 12:30

@MillStone, really gutted for you - it's so relentless isn't it? I'm on Day 53 also today - just about managing a 1000 metre walk now, very slowly. Terrible upper back pain but ibuprofen gel helps. Heart rate 85-95 on resting and 125-120 on walks. I just keep thinking that if the back pain and breathlessness could be sorted then I wouldn't feel too bad. I am able to potter about the house but need to rest often and can't do any type of strenuous cleaning still. I can drive for up to 20 minutes (but can't get out to do shopping!). My blood tests/chest X-ray two weeks ago show everything's normal too. It's so puzzling and frustrating.

I think that only a CT scan/24 hour or more ECG will be helpful at this stage.

Egghead68 · 20/05/2020 12:32

That sounds quite different from mine @starlilly88. I’ve had no fever, wheezing, sneezing, loss of appetite or muscle aches. My symptoms are/were chest burning and pain, slight dry cough, extreme fatigue, intermittent SOB, head and sinus pain, bad sore throat which improved rapidly, period of hoarse voice, erratic blood pressure and heart rate with palpitations settling in permanent tachycardia, acid reflux, sensitivity to light, half a day nasty taste, blisters on fingers, abdominal pain (poss diet related though), protracted relapsing remitting time-course.

Lightsabre · 20/05/2020 12:34

Forgot to say I had another negative test on Sunday - swab for the virus as I was thinking of presenting at A and E for another blood test. All of this is post viral now. I get a lot of underarm pain still - lymph nodes - so my immune system seems to be attacking still even though I don't have a virus.

Lightsabre · 20/05/2020 12:35

@Egghead68, have you had a positive antibody test?

Egghead68 · 20/05/2020 12:44

@Lightsabre not done one yet. I am sending it off tomorrow all being well (was waiting to the 2-month mark to give antibodies time to form, although it seems this may not have been the best move). I am wondering if it will be negative now as my symptoms are so different from @starlilly88’s.

starlilly88 · 20/05/2020 12:44

Also had nasty taste in mouth at various points, and extreme fatigue. Managed to get out of bed but didn't manage to leave the sofa for about 2 weeks

godhelpusall · 20/05/2020 12:46

@starlilly88 has yours been relapsing/remitting?

starlilly88 · 20/05/2020 12:48

DH and 3 DCs also got it around the same time - think one DC brought it home. Our symptoms were similar in some ways but different in others. I was the only one to get the muscle aches, one DC was the only one to get a dry cough. We all had loss of taste and smell and weird nose pain though.

Lightsabre · 20/05/2020 12:52

@Egghead68, I took a Clearsure finger prick one at a private clinic at 28 days and it was negative for everything. Like Starlily, I didn't have a bad cough. The private doctor said that those with the strongest symptoms tended to show positive on the antibody test ie; bad cough and high temperature.

I just can't think what this could be if it's not Coronavirus and none of the Doctors I've spoken to or seen can tell me either! Awaiting the Govt antibody test as hopefully I'll know for sure then.

MillStone · 20/05/2020 12:52

Hey @Lightsabre thanks and I hope you’re okay.

What you’ve said is exactly where I was up to last week before dropping. So frustrating isn’t it — being well except for the debilitating pain, fatigue and SOB.

I think I over did it. On top of a normal day I had to drive for bloods and see a dr etc.

Roll on 6 months time is where I’m at now.

Egghead68 · 20/05/2020 12:54

I have had a lot of nose pain but it feels a bit like sinusitis. I am “glad” - but not glad obs - you have the fatigue/nasty taste too - does sound more similar to mine. Did exercising on good days make your symptoms worse? This has been consistent for me.

starlilly88 · 20/05/2020 12:54

@godhelpusall

About 2 weeks in, I thought it was getting better, then a lot worse again. Then when I felt it was all finally gone, a couple of weeks later the weird sinus pain came back again. One DC got better, then 2 weeks later developed a slight cough and similar symptoms to what she had before. Hers is still ongoing, but could just be post viral

It was a very odd illness, as it was one symptom after another. I've never lost taste or smell before, even with colds or flu

starlilly88 · 20/05/2020 12:57

@Egghead68

The kids described the nose pain as like when swimming pool water goes up your nose and leaves it sore. Didn't have blocked nose and had sinusitis before so wasn't that

Egghead68 · 20/05/2020 12:57

@Lightsabre that is so frustrating. I have no idea what I could have if it is not COVID as it is unlike anything else I’ve ever come across. My worst nightmare (apart from my symptoms going on forever) is that this is not COVID and that I’m still likely to catch that too. I don’t think I can handle another serious illness.

Lightsabre · 20/05/2020 13:04

@Egghead68, that's my worst fear too! If it happens, I'll be begging my GP to put me on the shielding list as I'm a front line worker. I'm hoping they'll say yes but worried as I don't have a lung diagnosis and haven't been sent for further tests yet. If necessary, I will have to pay for a private CT scan but it's £1K + consultation fees.
