Shame we don't have an election for ages.

But great to finally have some opposition to this government again, particularly as UK deaths overtake every other country in the world apart from the Us, that has a population 5 times as big.

As a true Conservative, how do you think we should pay for all this?

Borrow - interest rates are very low at the moment.

Namechangervaver · 14/05/2020 17:38

What annoys me is that Tories' eyes lit up at the doctored video, when they thought he was victim-blaming child sexual exploitation victims. Now we know the video is actually is about Keir talking about the fact that he had changed prosecution guidelines, to move away from the victim blaming, why is no-one saying, wow, Keir did THIS for CSE victims? He actually actively did something for victims.

Alsohuman · 14/05/2020 17:54

*He ought to be called Keir Stirrer

Very easy to sit and snipe from the sidelines*

It must be the easiest thing in the world to be Leader of the Opposition, I wonder how Corbyn managed to make such a mess of it if it’s such a simple task?

FliesandPies · 14/05/2020 18:22

Another yes or no question clavinova, are you a Tory bot?

No, I'm a Russian secret agent

Could well amount to the same thing with Boris in charge..

FliesandPies · 14/05/2020 18:24

Exactly. They don't give a shit about any victims, just wanting to have a cheap shot at Starmer and the gun blew up in their horrible faces.

Says someone sitting and sniping from the sidelines.
Hmm

Stellaris22 · 14/05/2020 19:37

Clavinova please stop posting walls of text that no one reads, it's beyond irritating now and I very much doubt anyone is reading your posts. You claim it's to do with this thread but it's just not.

RuffleCrow · 14/05/2020 19:46

Exactly @BaileysforBreakfast. Keir's the one in the arena taking on Boris and his Eton cronies. The anonymous and probably paid Tory mners here are the ones sniping at him from the sidelines.

Clavinova · 14/05/2020 19:47

BaileysforBreakfast · 14/05/2020 19:54

Exactly, Ruffle. The desperation is tangible! First there was all the sniping about his title, now the false accusations... It's laughable.

chomalungma · 14/05/2020 20:01

This response from those Tory MPs just shows how desperate they are - and it's awful to think they would use - even 'accidentally' a doctored video about child sex abuse. to try and discredit Keir Starmer.

It's low. It's desparate. It's the kind of politics associated with the USA.

user1497207191 · 14/05/2020 20:09

It's pretty normal for opposition leaders to be more popular than the prime minister mid term. We're not accustomed to it at the moment because of Corbyn who couldn't even manage to be popular amongst his own MPs! Opposition leaders usually have an easy life - they can just snipe from the sidelines. It's when you get close to the next election that they have to actually step up to the plate and that's when they sink or swim.

Stellaris22 · 14/05/2020 20:10

It's typical Tory tactics. Use emotive topics to get people outraged whilst not caring one bit about the issue. It's deplorable and vile.

Have you read chomalungma's last post? Similar tactics.

Except that the surveys gave Boris Johnson a positive rating of 57% and Keir Starmer a positive rating of 40%.

jasjas1973 · 14/05/2020 20:55

You are right there Clav most of europe does indeed have a shocking death rate in their care homes BUT that doesn't make it right, it doesn't make what Johnson did right either.
He and his govt allowed CV patients into the care home system and being so clever, they would have known what would happen.

We all knew that CV affected the elderly and sick yet despite 3 weeks of early warning, we decided to kill off 1000s of the old, to keep pictures of a struggling NHS of our TV screens, at least Spain, Italy and France tried to save them, the UK did not.

ScribblingMilly · 14/05/2020 21:07

I wouldn't be at all confident in saying "at least Spain, Italy and France tried to save them, the UK did not". There are going to be dreadful accounts coming out from all countries. Spain has already launched criminal investigations into more than a dozen care homes over deaths of their residents.

chomalungma · 14/05/2020 21:13

Have you read chomalungma's last post? Similar tactics

The facts are:

  1. Starmer does well at PMQs.
  2. The next day, 3 Tory MPs happen to retweet a far right doctored video misleading people about Keir Starmer and his role in investigating historical child sex abuse.

It's disgusting that those Tory MPs would do that. At least they had the decency to delete the tweets. No apology though.

chomalungma · 14/05/2020 21:15

Except that the surveys gave Boris Johnson a positive rating of 57% and Keir Starmer a positive rating of 40%

And yet gave negative ratings as well - so we can look at net approval ratings.

Starmer is still getting to be known amongst people - and as we all know, it's a long time to the next election

What will the Tory party have to offer the UK in 4 - 5 years time?

vera99 · 14/05/2020 21:21

When you are down to quoting from the Express you have lost all right to be taken seriously. Clav is a troll / paid or otherwise shill for the Tories. Don't feed her.

I don't read her posts anymore...I just scroll by.

Does that explain why Labour think they won the last two elections?

chomalungma · 14/05/2020 21:50

n you are down to quoting from the Express you have lost all right to be taken seriously

You MEAN, when you QUOTE from the EXPRESS, you have lost all right to be taken SERIOUSLY

PigletJohn · 14/05/2020 23:16

@billysboy "Very easy to sit and snipe from the sidelines"

which is how Buffoon got the job.

Spillinteas · 14/05/2020 23:28

I left labour when JC made it to infuriating to be a member. Then I was appalled at how the two new labour leader candidates women candidates dealt with the raging trans issue. I really hoped Keir would draw us back in but then seen/heard about his involvement with the child sex abuse prosecutors being written off. So I’m not so sure. Only time will tell if he is the man people are hoping for. If he is - I’ll rejoin
