Just that really. Parents of reception, year 1 and year 6, IF schools return on the 1st of June, will you send your child in?

My son is in reception and I would be willing to send him in.

As I said on another thread, I don’t get the hysteria around reopening schools. The ‘risk’ was much higher prior to lockdown when the virus was so prevalent in the community. And yet at the time most teachers and children were attending school and I can’t recall any scary outbreaks. Now the risk is low and it is akin to murder to think about reopening. There is no logic. I can however well imagine there is a lot of head scratching about how schools are going to now manage the daft rules about keeping kids 2m apart.

I have dozens of friends with children attending school (we all need to work) and all have stayed well. DD almost certainly brought covid back from a school ski trip and despite coughing all over me and DH, neither of us caught it. Just as lockdown started we both then got it, probably from travelling on the tube!

Yes I will be sending both my children back. One is eligible as he is in yr6 and one is in yr3 so eligible for a keyworker space. I have to go back to work, I work in a school. I know that my children's schools have taken all the necessary precautions. I trust the schools decision. However we also have to pay our bills they won't pay themselves, my husband also has to go back to work at his school too. However the decision is not final and if the r rate goes back up all of the government's plans will be put on hold and we are likely to go back into lockdown I would assume. I would also like to add that as both myself and husband work in education we are eligible for a coronavirus test as well as our family if one of us develops any symptons.
I think everyone needs to realise that we are now going to be in a major recession. So right now if you have a job you are extremely lucky. Also my kids need a routine, they both want to go back and they both miss their friends their mental health is extremely important to me.
