She's not perfect, no politician is.

But she's straight and clear and concise.

People in Scotland know very very little has changed.

Westminster are really showing their true colours. No wonder we have 30,000 plus deaths. Fucking shambles.

shootsfruit funnily enough in Scotland we work on the basis of inclusivity . In these times instructions need to be clear, concise, easy to understand - for all the population . People with different levels of intelligence, those who might not speak the English language well, those who maybe have a language difficulty or a learning difficulty, people who can’t read written language or can’t hear spoken language . Maybe ‘idiots’ to you but to the majority of us don’t think that way thankfully .

Stay home - easy, simple and clear . Exactly what it says on the tin .

Stay alert - when? How? What does that mean ? Will everyone who hears that immediately understand and know what they need to do next ? No - they won’t .

HeyHoLetsGoAgain · 10/05/2020 22:47

The nature of Scottish politics nowadays is that you can't talk politics without upsetting around half of the population.
Yes I do (sometimes), near Inverness.

pictish · 11/05/2020 14:45

Absolutely Frank.

ssd · 11/05/2020 15:13

So much confusion now in England, how us this policed safely, how are the public meant to know what exactly is allowed?

It's mind boggling how well the government has screwed this up.

She’s fab.

Hadenoughfornow · 11/05/2020 15:24

What happens when Scotland starts to come out of lockdown?

Will her message then be as clear?

She can't use the UK gov one.

So she'll need to come up with her own and I hope she manages to keep her message clear and concise.

ssd · 11/05/2020 15:42

I'm sure she will.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 11/05/2020 15:46

Maybe she’ll invoke William Wallace

They may take away our freedom, but they'll never take our lives

Mrsjayy · 11/05/2020 15:50

Getthedoorfrank best user name ever😂

Nicola Sturgeon is out every day with clear information and. We really need that we don't need Boris waffle that has you tuning out.

Tonz · 11/05/2020 17:18

Nicola is so much clearer than Boris. I'm not fussed about independence I'm happy to be in the UK as well as being Scottish and I do worry for my family in England but I suppose we'll just have to wait and see what happens

Kinneddar · 11/05/2020 17:18

Cant stand the woman & itll be a cold day in hell before I vote SNP. However I have to admit shes handled this so much better than Boris. At least we know where we stand.

When shes being a proper First Minister shes not bad but shell be back to her obnoxious single minded Independance self soon - sadly

ssd · 11/05/2020 22:14

My friends who hate the thought of independence, all think the FM is doing a good job for us.

Independence doesn't need to be brought up, this emergency has taken over and I'm just glad we have her and get straight talking.. All the news is full of today is how confusing Johnsons plans are and how people are desperate for clear guidance in England, but haven't had it so far.

I for one am very glad we have nicola sturgeon in charge instead of boris... love her or hate her nicola has been on that podium every day telling it straight no messing around

LastTrainEast · 11/05/2020 22:52

"and the highest death toll in Europe"

Somewhere there will be an island with a dozen people on it and they will be forever famous for having the lowest death toll. Regardless of how they handle it.

macaroniandpizza · 11/05/2020 23:03

shootsfruits are you looking at the same figures i am?? How can you say that scottish covid deaths arent that far behind english deaths? There is a huge amount of difference in the numbers...

Thank God we've got Nicola Sturgeon.
LastTrainEast · 11/05/2020 23:12

"how are the public meant to know what exactly is allowed?"

I'm pretty sure there's no specific rule against licking pavements so that will probably be a major source of infection amongst those who need everything spelt out for them or who think that anything not banned is compulsory.

Any adult should be able to work out how best to minimise contact in their particular situation.

MummyPop00 · 11/05/2020 23:22

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-52617895

Earlier lockdown would have prevented 2,000 deaths. First infections after Nike conference in Edinburgh, late Feb, known about but not made public.

Aesopfable · 11/05/2020 23:27

What has she actually done though?

Ibelieveinyesterday · 11/05/2020 23:45

The plans to boost the economy won't matter at all when a large portion of the workforce are either too ill to work or suddenly in charge of caring responsibilities when the usual person becomes sick. I'll be interested to see if there's a spike after all the VE day warbling and conga lines Hmm
The vast majority of workers who can't WFH are working class with blue collar jobs. The Westminster government are sending the 'expandable' people out as guinea pigs.
Johnson's sorry mess is absolutely nothing to do with independence at all. But, admittedly, it also makes me curious as to why Scots should stay in the union? We're often bashed on here (and other popular media) and so clearly looked down on. Who'd want to be tied to a group of people who think they're so much better than us?..

Opendraw · 12/05/2020 00:05

To be fair she probably hasn’t done much more than Boris in terms of testing, care Home deaths etc (although haven’t compared the figures) what she is doing a great job of is being clear so that everyone knows what they are supposed to be doing and I think our excit which probably not be too far behind you will be set in a much clearer manner. Someone mentione up thread you have non English , people with short attention spans and a his of other reasons and so when someone waffles on yes the key points may have been there but you had to listen and of course some people will not tune in. Stay alert is a ridiculous and meaningless phrase.

So yes I’m happy to have someone laying it out in simple terms so we the people of Scotland can do our bit and follow the rules

Opendraw · 12/05/2020 00:06

Sorry lots of missed words and lack of punctuation wish you could edit :-(

ssd · 12/05/2020 00:09

She must be knackered though. She's always working. She must be desperate for a day off to stay in and do sod all.

Hmmyoureallythinkso · 12/05/2020 00:10

Definitely

Opendraw · 12/05/2020 00:13

100% I hope she doesn’t get ill and I don’t mean from covid .
