She's not perfect, no politician is.

But she's straight and clear and concise.

People in Scotland know very very little has changed.

Westminster are really showing their true colours. No wonder we have 30,000 plus deaths. Fucking shambles.

Really wishing, more than ever now, that I lived in Scotland. I'm embarrassed to be in England. Brexit was bad enough.

LevoMental · 10/05/2020 21:58

She is clear, concise and shows integrity.

She also seems more in touch with the public than other politicians.

I'm glad we have her in our corner than the bumbling shitshow that is BoJo.

ShootsFruitAndLeaves · 10/05/2020 22:02

Yeah she's great, she gets £2k a year more money to spend than England does and whatever she does now she won't foot the bill for at any point. Great.

Methtones · 10/05/2020 22:03

ShootsFruitAndLeave

Huh?

ShootsFruitAndLeaves · 10/05/2020 22:05

Also Scotland has done very poorly, to be clear, in terms of covid-19 deaths. Let's not beat about the bush here. Yes, it's lower than England, but not by very much, and England has much higher immigration, denser population, several of the world's busiest airports, etc.

She's like Cuomo in New York vs. Trump. Doesn't look so smart when you realise she's got thousands of dead behind her.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 10/05/2020 22:06

The sooner Scotland gets independence the better (for England)

Methtones · 10/05/2020 22:08

Here we go again with scotland bashing. Lovely.

HeyHoLetsGoAgain · 10/05/2020 22:08

Nicola has been good during the current crisis (but mostly following Westminster's lead).
Shame she appears to be so comfortable being one of the UK's highest paid politicians that she's given up on indy.

ShootsFruitAndLeaves · 10/05/2020 22:08

Methtones, Scotland spends more money per capita than England on public services.

Scotland has a small population relative to the UK so it doesn't particularly need to worry about its economy since it's not self-reliant. The oil price is down more than 80% from the 2011 peak, so there's no money there either.

ShootsFruitAndLeaves · 10/05/2020 22:09

2008 peak, even.

Methtones · 10/05/2020 22:10

And yet the English politicians were desperate to hold on to us during the referendum.

HeronLanyon · 10/05/2020 22:11

Agree. She has been a model of clarity and sense. I don’t understand what on Earth boris’ speech said - total meaningless confusion. Other than desperate to get manufacturing and construction back to work - poor sods. Worried about ‘new workplace guidance.’ Tories have never been exactly strong on protecting workers.

Sandybval · 10/05/2020 22:11

Who is going to continue to subsidise everyone she is telling to stay at home that could go back to work safely? That was the main takeaway, I'm assuming she will be expecting the treasury to cough up, might be in for a shock when the plans for the future of furlough are announced.

Methtones · 10/05/2020 22:14

Who is going to continue to subsidise everyone she is telling to stay at home that could go back to work safely?

The point is they cant. And they cant get to work either!

ParkheadParadise · 10/05/2020 22:15

She's been very clear from the beginning.

I like her.

EachDubh · 10/05/2020 22:17

For those talking about independence you are aware that this thread has nothing to do with independence 🙄
In other threads Nicola is accused of doing the opposite of Westminster just to be contrary, in this thread she accused of just doing what they are doing. 😳
For those who watched Nicola and Borris, they both talked about the 4 nations following a common path, not exactly the same but a common one.

Sandybval · 10/05/2020 22:20

The point is they cant. And they cant get to work either!

Some will be able to, as is the case here. Many businesses closed when they could have implemented the relevant safety procedures with relative ease. This safeguards those who actually cannot work safely as they'd be more likely to receive extended support. What Boris was saying was that those businesses who were never actually advised to shut, who should have been using the time to implement procedures need to try and get moving again. No new sectors have been advised to at this point.

ssd · 10/05/2020 22:20

Even Laura Kuenssberg sounds confused re tonight's speech from Johnson.

OP posts:
Trichford · 10/05/2020 22:21

So glad to be a scot more than ever right now!

Veterinari · 10/05/2020 22:22

She's a racist political point scorer. You can keep her.
@Mrswalliams1 compared to Boris 'brexiteer' Johnson? With his covert herd immunity response and the highest death toll in Europe?

Is she, aye?
GrinGrinGrin

dementedma · 10/05/2020 22:23

Move to Scotland then lovely. Just hope you dont have dcs who are going to have to endure our appalling education system and you are happy when you are taxed to the hilt to pay for independence.

ShootsFruitAndLeaves · 10/05/2020 22:24

Boris says X, Nicola says Y. It doesn't even matter the topic. It seems quite cynical really.

The stay at home thing was always a load of bollocks it's just the average person is so thick they can't understand more nuanced versions of 'don't get together with other people'.

We've had the policy-for-idiots for weeks now, and it's time to try something new. Whether Nicola follows or not isn't that important tbh.

HeyHoLetsGoAgain · 10/05/2020 22:26

Methtones
The English politicians gave Alex Salmond everything he wanted:-
They let him set the question.
They allowed him to gerrymander the vote by letting 16 year olds
vote.
They didn't challenge the publication of the "white paper" (would
have come in handy this year during the panic buying).
They gave Alex over 2 years to persuade us to follow his dream.
Yet, he couldn't persuade enough of us.
Now, ironically, some believe that Lady Macbeth and her coterie appear to be set on destroying him.

EachDubh · 10/05/2020 22:29

ShootsFruitAndLeaves
Seeing as quite a few people seem to be struggling with the new message you may have insulted a lot of the population.
Do you live in Scotland?

Methtones · 10/05/2020 22:37

HeyHoLetsGoAgain it was swinging towards yes until a shitload of now broken promises were made. "This is the only guarantee you'll stay in Europe," being my favourite.
