Now that Boris has said people can drive for exercise and leisure, you know they'll flock to seaside's, lakes, peaks, etc.
Which means if they're carriers they'll be spreading the virus to petrol stations pumps, gates, railings etc.

I don't get the logic behind him saying that tbh.

See you've done a bit of cut and paste anyway.

Imakeyworker · 11/05/2020 09:08

Monkey

F'ing hell. I might as well be having a conversation with a... Oh... wait...

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 11/05/2020 09:08

Oh look.. more of the same definitions..

Maybe everyone that knows the word is copying and pasting from the same.place?

People living in tourist spots should probably be concerned right now.

Imakeyworker

This isn't a conversation. Just.ypubattempting to be clever and insulting someone's usage and spelling and me correcting you.
The rest is just you trying to defend your incorrect correction. Then callong me a fool for answering you, then saying i copy and pasted because you'd been to wiki and thought id copied it from there etc etc.

@Imakeyworker

I think you lost.

I'm not sure what you lost because it doesn't really matter.

But you lost.

mumsonthenet · 11/05/2020 09:13

That's why you
Sanitize your hands after touching a petrol pump and keep your distance
As per the suggested way to continue on with life.
Gosh the Agro.. just imagine when we have to listen out in public to this once you all escape please speak quietly...

Imakeyworker · 11/05/2020 09:14

Bless you for trying to 'educate' me Monkey but you really don't need to do any more searches for things I already f'ing know.

Imakeyworker · 11/05/2020 09:17

Oh shit super 😅 🤣 !! You're right! Monkey has proved it! You can't argue with stupid.

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 11/05/2020 09:22

Wasn't trying to educate. Please re read.
I was giving examples that the definition is the same wherever you may look, so.me.giving a definition that is the same as everywhere else, isn't really a surprise now is it?

Is that clear or did I use words that are too big for you?
I mean you did well using the word encyclopedia. Gold star for you, move to the top of the class.

At this point I'm going to guess you enjoy feeling superior to others and often correct what you believe to be errors on forums etc. Don't like it when other people challenge you tho do you?
Now i could sit here and discuss this all day, with 40 years of experience in dictionary compilation and an ex paid cruciverbalist, it'd be great fun.

Not a good loser huh?

Are you 10 years old?!

Imakeyworker · 11/05/2020 09:26

Or is Monkey doing a quick name change...

Kastanien · 11/05/2020 09:27

Imagine not visiting a place because somebody from there said something you didn't like on the internet once.

It isn't just saying it on the internet once though, it is the feeling that tourists are somehow like 'ants', very insulting and if was said about people from other countries it would be considered racist. These feelings have not just developed because of covid, but they have now been actually articulated in a very negative way. They won't just go away either. So I don't think it is just one internet comment, it is a feeling of uneasiness in spending your time in areas which are now outright and openly hostile towards tourists.

There would have been nothing wrong with opening up local parks, and keeping travel to within your general postcode (first 2 digits).

Except my postcode does not have any large green space, it has some tiny local parks which are very crowded. Our largest green space is in our neighbouring county, which we can walk to because the two counties are so close that people cross between them all the time to shop, work, and everything else. Being forced into keeping to our postcode area would mean a bigger restriction , not an easing . Not all postcode areas/ counties are the same!

OMG! This just gets better! 😂

supermanisdead · 11/05/2020 09:30

Nope not a name changer, I think you can probably see that from mine and monkeys different posts.

But you're not one for fact checking are you @Imakeyworker

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 11/05/2020 09:30

Imakeyworker

Name changing within a thread is called sockpuppeting I believe, and MN pick up on it very quickly.

Oh but I don't mean that.. that's a sensible answer.. what I should say is..

Are you 11?

OP posts:
supermanisdead · 11/05/2020 09:32

Hi @monkey how are you?

supermanisdead · 11/05/2020 09:32

@MonkeyToesOfDoom

She did just use OMG and emojis in her last post. She must be at least 13.

Imakeyworker · 11/05/2020 09:33

Please please stop Monkey ! You're killing me! 🤣
I know what a sock puppet is.

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 11/05/2020 09:33

@supermanisdead

Amused at how badly.someone takes being questioned on a forum. I'm glad I don't have a job I should be doing like a keyworker or something.

How's your 10 year old self? Still in short pants?. 😝

Aww! Your BFF has arrived Monkey !

Imakeyworker · 11/05/2020 09:36

I'm glad I don't have a job I should be doing like a keyworker or something.

I'm sure with your 40 years experience in... what was it now? You're most definitely a key worker.

supermanisdead · 11/05/2020 09:36

@MonkeyToesOfDoom

Well it wasn't just being questioned
was it, you proved her wrong after her effing and blinding at you like a bit of a loon.

None of it really matters though does it. Not in the big scheme of life...

But you were right. Sometimes a bit of graciousness is all that's needed

Oh and I am a key worker so we deffo can't be the same human!

supermanisdead · 11/05/2020 09:39

@MonkeyToesOfDoom

Oh and what is a cruciverbalist?

Might work that one into the next family quiz!

ErrolTheDragon · 11/05/2020 09:39

keep your distance

That of course is the main thing ... if you travel quite a long way, can you be sure you'll be able to park and then walk when you get there and be able to keep your distance? If you've driven a long way you're more likely to park somewhere inappropriate because you don't want to give up and go home, and you don't have the local knowledge to find the couple of lay-bys which would be ok (and which will already be full with people who didn't come as far)

It's the reason NT grounds and many car parks in nice places had to close, because everyone thought 'oh, it's a sunny day let's go to xxxx'.

We stopped going to nice/interesting places - the lakes, Dunham Massey, central Manchester for instance in February.

If you know somewhere less obvious where you're sure you can park and which won't have 'pinch points ' then sure... no one is going to even notice you.

But if you go to a well known 'beauty spot' you're likely being quite daft and you won't be able to adhere to social distancing which still is a requirement.

It's not really about town v country, more about everyone not going somewhere everyone else thinks of going. Which generally requires local knowledge.
