Lots of posts on here asking what "stay alert" means. Surely these people are not really that thick to ask what it meanHmmHmm

OP posts:
nellodee · 10/05/2020 16:33

Could we have some examples then please, OP, of things we should be alert to and our consequent actions?

79Fleur · 10/05/2020 16:34

What’s your interpretation then??

Whatsthis1515 · 10/05/2020 16:34

People are willfully misunderstanding it. Honestly, the anti-English sentiment is starting to drive me mad.
It is quite obvious what it means. We cannot stay locked up forever.

noego · 10/05/2020 16:36

I agree OP.

A nation of adults, well educated, in the middle of a pandemic and are asking, what does it mean?
FFS.
And as for those thick twats in the media spinning the negativity again, one can only wonder how many more people are suffering with MH issues because of them.

ChampionRabbit · 10/05/2020 16:37

It means in the great UK capitalism vs public health wars of 2020, public health came last, but the Government won't actually ORDER people back to work, so instead they're just going for vagueness so they don't have to accept responsibility when (like in Germany at the moment) the infection rate rockets.

"We told you to STAY ALERT! And no you've gone and got the virus! If only you'd listened..."

Utterlydespairing · 10/05/2020 16:39

I’m astounded that people don’t understand it although I’m assuming they are confused because it’s a Tory thing. Can’t agree with anything they do, can they?

nellodee · 10/05/2020 16:40

Still no one has told me what I'm meant to be alert to, though. Just how stupid I am if I don't know already.

SmileEachDay · 10/05/2020 16:40

OP if you seriously believe that this vague nonsense is designed to do anything other than absolve the govt of responsibility then you are beyond help. It’s deliberately vague and allows any organisation to just say it’s not possible to socially distance.

mondaynoon · 10/05/2020 16:41

Still waiting for the clever people to explain...

LindainLockdown · 10/05/2020 16:42

Sadly many people really are that thick. They certainly don't seem to want to take any responsibility for their own actions.

If you can't make your own interpretation of stay alert FFS, please do "stay home" because you are too fucking thick to be out.

peachesancream · 10/05/2020 16:42

Genuine question..@ChampionRabbit what do you think the Gov should do?

Utterlydespairing · 10/05/2020 16:43

It means keep your distance, take precautions. Ffs are people really that thick? They are easing lockdown which means the stay at home slogan isn’t suitable.
I don’t know why I’m explaining things because it’s clearly people acting dumb because it’s the Tories. That’s how low some of the left have got.

Sparklingbrook · 10/05/2020 16:43

Yes they really are. So many threads asking. I think they are pretending to not understand or something.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 10/05/2020 16:43

This is a TAAT. And a mean-spirited one. Should have addressed it on one of the other threads. Hmm

SmileEachDay · 10/05/2020 16:43

This didn’t post first time.

Are people really asking what it means...
peachesancream · 10/05/2020 16:44

Aren't the bullet points on the hog poster explaining what they mean by the title. Same people are probably on other threads moaning and not being able to see family or how the economy is being ruined. We can't have it all ways people!

Lostvoiced · 10/05/2020 16:44

I mean, it is stupid. You can't see the virus, what exactly are we supposed to be alert for? If we have to go back to work we lose a lot of control over who we interact with.
It's purposely vague, green branding instead of red, they're letting a second wave happen. Thousands more will die, because they're not willing to explore other economic measures. And when the second wave happens, they will blame us.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 10/05/2020 16:45

I think mn just want to keep being told to stay at home and to get paid for it.

Or they are just very stupid.

PineappleDanish · 10/05/2020 16:45

People are being deliberately dense because they don't like the idea behind the message. People who "don't understand" what is being asked are cross that they see the lockdown is being eased off a bit. They're the sort who would only be happy if people leaving their house were shot on sight, and at least 10 years' hard labour for buying a chocolate bar.

The message is clear - use your common sense, keep your wits about you. Remember the social distancing.

peachesancream · 10/05/2020 16:45

@Lostvoiced what other economic measures?

BarbaraofSeville · 10/05/2020 16:45

People are either being deliberately obtuse or simply determined to trash the government whatever they do.

They are asking people to be alert to possible symptoms and self isolate if necessary, be alert to reducing the risk of transmission by not having close contact with people outside their own household. Also washing their hands regularly. Plus the government will stay alert by continuing to monitor the number of cases and deaths for an early warning of any increase.

Pretty simple really.

Sparklingbrook · 10/05/2020 16:46

Stay alert to the fact you can still catch this so take steps to avoid it as much as possible. Doing the things in the picture above.

SmileyClare · 10/05/2020 16:47

It seems that people want defined rules on every little thing you can and cannot do. I don't understand why people can't apply some common sense and risk assess situations for themselves. I'm expecting a lots of threads tomorrow "Am I allowed to go in my friend's garden? Am I allowed to meet my sister for a walk? Can I get the bus..etc

I interpret it as stay alert to the risks of infecting ourselves or others by our actions. Stay Alert to the fact that we're still living with this virus.

Perhaps some of the threads questioning Stay Alert are a bit tongue in cheek though.

Sparklingbrook · 10/05/2020 16:47

This is a TAAT. And a mean-spirited one. Should have addressed it on one of the other threads.

Which one though?

Chocolatepeanuts · 10/05/2020 16:48

Thankyou @SmileEachDay ! Looks like I'm one if the thick ones that didnt know what it meant Hmm
