Sorry if this thread has been down before but just wondering what people think the changes will be on Sunday?

OP posts:
YouSetTheTone · 09/05/2020 07:47

Gardeners World will now include a Position of the Week.

Peggysgettingcrazy · 09/05/2020 07:49

Are they? Unless people are children who have grown, or adults who have lost or put on weight, don't most people already have clothes and shoes suitable for warm weather and which fit them?

Do you realise that lots of people can only afford cheap clothes that will only last for one summer. They can afford lots of clothes so wear the few same things, meaning they need replacing more often.

But they don't have the cash to buy better quality or a hugger range of clothes?

KatherineJaneway · 09/05/2020 07:53

3 weeks lockdown extension
Some relaxing of rules but only very slightly

Gingerninja4 · 09/05/2020 07:59

I'm expecting shielding to be extended beyond end of June

hopeishere · 09/05/2020 08:51

Considering you can get clothes online I don't expect clothes shops to be a priority to reopen.

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 09/05/2020 09:09

I've been buying clothes online with free returns, much easier.

No need for clothes shops to open if you can buy online, although I accept it may be some people's preference

Fedup21 · 09/05/2020 09:12

Go to work, don’t speak to anyone, come straight home, do not have fun, do not collect £200, stay in your homes.

cologne4711 · 09/05/2020 09:22

I thought I read on here somewhere that the thing with libraries is so people can use the wifi-someone mentioned people sitting outside a library so they could use it. Unless I dreamed it of course

No, that was me. It was in a magazine I was reading - Leeds City libraries found people congregating outside their libraries to use the wifi so were trying to think of ways to reopen.

cologne4711 · 09/05/2020 09:24

As for easing they were saying on the radio this morning that garden centres could open and that there would be no limits on outdoor exercise (though I hope if that's the case they will also say that all the parks and park car parks should reopen). However, if I can cycle and run, I can maybe cycle somewhere different for a run and cycle back.

Teaching unions kicking up about schools so looking increasingly like September. No mention of FE and sixth form colleges at all!

DateandTime · 09/05/2020 09:26

Exactly what was announced for Wales.

Nothing about schools, only more on how they'll work with the evidence .

Thisdressneedspockets · 09/05/2020 09:53

Cologne, why can't you cycle and run now?

Hugglespuffed · 09/05/2020 10:07

I'm all for clothes shops opening but to the people saying they need them ... many are retailing online plus supermarkets have shoes and clothes.

APocketFullOfButtons · 09/05/2020 10:15

I’m hoping charity shops will open, probably not as I can’t imagine many volunteering to go in. But still, I buy most of my clothes from charity shops and I’d love a shopping trip!

Scarlettpixie · 09/05/2020 10:26

No need for clothes shops to open when you can buy online or in the supermarket.

I think opening garden centres and diy stores would be fine.

I suspect they will allow people out more than once a day so long as they keep to social distancing.

They may say you can visit one other household but I am not keen on this just yet. However people are already bending the rules and it will be impossible to monitor if people are sticking to the rules or not. Its alright the government relying on common sense but some people are idiots and do/will think the rules don’t apply to them!

I think schools will remain closed,

I am going nowhere 🙂

Xenia · 09/05/2020 10:31

Possibly that in effect all summer holidays outside the UK are cancelled and the travel industry killed off fatally (if we have to do 14 day quarantine when back)......

SmileEachDay · 09/05/2020 10:46

I really, really hope we get something with the clarity and detail of the Irish plan. It’s really sensible and measured.

and I wish we had Leo in charge here

RoomR0613 · 09/05/2020 10:49

If they want people back in work then there will have to be an arrangement about childcare, even if that's just that 2 households can mix so grandparents/ other relatives can help out.

KaptenKrusty · 09/05/2020 10:51

How about you just enjoy your weekend and find out tomorrow when the announcement is made! It’s ridiculous to be trying to guess!

Peggysgettingcrazy · 09/05/2020 10:52

I'm all for clothes shops opening but to the people saying they need them ... many are retailing online plus supermarkets have shoes and clothes.

Oh my god. My asda, which is the only supermarket here that sells clothes (ex mining town) has the space of a small living room for clothes. Its shit.

I could drive 40 mins to the huge asda, but we were told not to do that either.

I never like clothes I order on line, so stopped doing that years ago. My big arse, small waist, makes clothes difficult to buy anyway.

That said I am quite happy with the clothes I have. But I am just pointing out, its not as easy as go to the supermarket or order online.

AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 09/05/2020 10:58

@LaurieFairyCake the sex outdoors one will be specifically for Boris. He can’t maintain his image as Britain’s premier, letchy old shagger with a newborn in the house: he’s got to find somewhere else to do it. Word to the wise: no one venture near St. James’ Park just before dusk.

Cary2012 · 09/05/2020 11:20

I fancy a bit of outdoor sex with Monty Don @YouSetTheTone
If Nigel and Nellie watch, will it be dogging? Wink

Very little will change, the majority of us won't even notice.
And extension until the end of the month.

MrsWhites · 09/05/2020 11:34

I also have a feeling we will be given very little information. According to my TV guide the broadcast is only 10 minutes long, I imagine if it was very detailed that he would need longer than that to explain the plan.

Wired4sound · 09/05/2020 11:51

I love the idea of gardeners world having a position of the week, I bet that Monty Don is filth in the sack.

Barbie222 · 09/05/2020 12:54

Behave!!!

imsooverthisdrama · 09/05/2020 13:17

I think it's ridiculous that it's been announced in the press today that people flying in will now be quarantined for 14 days. So we are like 40 odd days of lockdown can't see family but you can freely fly with no consequences. Am I missing something here shouldn't this have been the first thing ? And flight companies are worried about it ruining their business.
They've already said in the press garden centres can open and more than one form of exercise can be done so what else is their for him to say ? .
He'll just confirm it and go oh but we must stay home to protect the nhs .
If he doesn't come up with a plan of when schools will open and people can see families soon more and more people will ignore this and just do their own thing.
I'm happy to stay in lockdown but we need a clear exit plan .
