Support thread for those who've had Covid symptoms or post-viral fatigue for at least 7 weeks/49 days or longer.

If your symptoms haven't lasted that long, check out the Lung 7 thread (or later). It'll be more helpful as people there will be in a more similar position.

Thank you @baroqueandblue

I hope that you had a swift recovery from this god awful virus. Sending you healing thoughts too! Thanks

What day are you on now @baroqueandblue? I had the most god awful slump around 50 days. Today marks 60 😣

It's possible many of us will get 'echoes' of various pain impulses throughout recovery. I definitely feel like I am, but am trying to make myself not get anxious about it. Difficult, because catastrophising is my default setting, but knowing that helps me to dig myself out of the black holes a bit quicker now. I already have underlying conditions which complicate things - osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia, for example, which might have been made worse by the virus going forward. It's tricky and too soon to tell really, but I'm aiming to slowly do as much as I can over the next few weeks, one day at a time, and see how much of this stuff works its way out through adjusting to more activity bit by bit. I hope you'll soon be able to do something similar, coz it feels like we'll have to gradually work our way back up to some approximation of 'our normal' and see how far we can take that Flowers

Not daft at all - it's been hellish for all of us on these threads Sad

I'm in the 60s but have given up counting! Started with a sore throat and awful headaches last week of Feb, morphed into godawful spine and rib pain and everything else Covid mid-March

Report
baroqueandblue · 07/05/2020 01:36

And definitely felt like I was going insane in the 50s, don't despair - something really shifted for me about 5 days ago. You'll get there very soon

Yes I had the most odd furry feeing pain front the back of my nose to my throat when I first got sick. I had never had anything like it so knew I should act quickly. As soon as I heard boris mention sore throat on his daily briefing I was on the phone to 111.

I have to say the 50 day slump was so so awful. I felt so sore useless and helpless then. It was Almost as bad as week 2 or 3 but my breathing wasn't quite so bad. I have asthma and may be celiac I'm being tested for that but it was discovered I have a b12 deficiency too so once we are on top of all that hopefully things will improve. 🤞 You over 60 days 🤦‍♀️ how are your symptoms now?

Morning. Day 47/48. Usual chest pain, palpitations, tachycardia, fatigue. Headache too this morning. Not looking forward to a day-50 dip (still in my day-40 dip).

I read a good retort to all the sceptical HCPs and others:

“ So [you are saying] I had the exact symptoms of the highly contagious pandemic disease, but apparently had a different disease exactly like it? During the pandemic?”

I am reading a lot of reports (Covid-19 support Facebook page) of people with what I now think of as “classic” symptoms who test negative on the antigen and/or antibody tests. I am seriously doubting the reliability of these tests.

Hi everyone, I just wanted to say thanks for this thread. My DH is on day 56. He is in his late 30s and had it mildly (still worked throughout, from home) but we have been dismayed and worried by ongoing relapses. It has been a real mental strain. Reading people’s experiences here has helped so much because until recently there was no coverage of this angle.

I wish you all recoveries 💐

Hi @Blerg. Sadly your husband’s experience of ongoing relapses is not uncommon as you see. I wish him well soon.

@Booboostwo i am getting this but i am much earlier in the virus than you are, day 31. Had 3 days & nights where I’m almost better just sore throat & a little sob. Then last night hot, upset belly & burning chest and this morning a headache. I get this with a cold or flu, you feel better then worse again until finally it has gone. I think there is a bit left & my body is fighting it off.

The lungs 7 post thread i think has moved but they haven’t told us the new thread details so i can no longer follow it

Good morning everyone.
After my marathon 300 step walk yesterday I ate dinner, WITH a pudding, and didn't feel horribly sick.
I didn't collapse into bed whilst dd was in the bath. I watched a bit of TV with DH and felt normal for a bit.
Didn't go to bed until gone half 9, and I've slept nearly all night.
I'm living in the fast lane now!

That's a great retort @Egghead68! I will definitely use that - as even now some family members are saying it's not COVID that I've got.

I'm day 46 (hopefully I can just qualify for this thread!)

I can say I've felt nearly normal on Tuesday and Wednesday and so far this morning.

My last worrying symptom which seemed to have lifted on Tuesday was my heart feeling inflamed.

I didn't speak to the GP because I couldn't face trying to explain about the virus to them. I feel I've done a lot more reading than them on it (and I'm reading proper journals like BMJ) but they seem to hate when I've read something and use that evidence to explain my symptoms. The last Gp I spoke to advised me to even stop watching the news. (I prob watch about 10mins every 2 or 3 days so hardly overdoing it!)

The heart inflammation lasted just over a week and got quite bad on Monday after doing 2 hrs work on my laptop. I could feel it getting worse and worse, so I shut the laptop, had lunch then lay down for the rest of the day then went to bed. Must have had about 20 hours of complete rest, and felt much better the next day.

When my heart felt inflamed I couldn't lie on my back for more than one min - it felt like everything was collapsing in on me- really weird and scary feeling- like I would die so had to shift position really quickly.

Worried about reports of 50 day dips. I guess I'll just continue resting and hope for the best!

Good morning
P was dreading this morning after my afternoon at work but I slept well and have woke up not too bad. My ribs hurt and the tops of my arms ache but other than that so far ok. However it is early in the day so I will see how it goes. Hoping all of you still suffering feel a little better today.

@baroqueandblue - oh, I can really relate to the housework thing! My house looks shocking, and it's not for want of a bit of effort on my part! I don't know about going to A&E - did that early on in this crazy thing, and was not a good experience. They didn't even take me into the hospital - made me stand outside in the car park, freezing cold, whilst they did my obs on a portable machine. Then sent me away with a flea in my ear!

Hoping everyone feels better today Flowers

@Egghead68 - I'm kind of parallel with you timewise almost, with similar symptoms. Praying for a better day for us all, if only marginally.

I’ve reached the big 5-0 in Covid days! Despite having been up since 4amish I feel brighter. I did go to sleep at 10pmish though.

Yes all long-haulers welcome, no matter what no of days Grin The suggestion on the last thread had been to make this thread 50 plus. I was bossily saying Lungs 7 might be better because we had several people on the last thread, who’d just come down with symptoms, ask if we thought they had it.

Ah, I can see maybe it was a mistake to post. Shame, it took a lot of courage to do so and I was pretty desperate but my post has been overlooked and/or ignored.

I do genuinely hope you all recover soon - this virus is vile. I prob won't post again. 💐

@Norugratsatall sorry you’re post got overlooked or ignored, where is it? I think a lot of us are still quite ill - I was in hospital on oxygen on Monday and I know many others have been in a bad way too. It means we’re naturally more focused on ourselves or drawn to posts where the symptoms or number of days is very similar to our own.

@Lougle thats helpful thankyou. Im two days without the meds, slept well using Kalms again and managed a full nights sleep.

Like you @Egghead68 im largely in a chair or my bed as just completely fatigued with fast heart rate but I do feel much more “with it” Ive lost track of my days. I think its something like 46. I do not want ANOTHER slump. As I get more well I become more fearful of lockdown easement. Interesting to see your antibody test @Egghead68 I’ll be watching for an up update. We all had swabs in our house on Saturday and all were negative, no surprise after 40+ days. It makes me wonder how effective contact tracing will be, we’re all symptomatic but armed with my negative swab Im allowed to merrily get back to work etc according to my results message.

I dont trust anything anymore. Im not even sure i’ll trust the govement antibody test. I want a real vial of blood taken out of me and tested.

@Norugratsatall - Hi Norugratsatall, I think people on here are genuinely feeling so ill and desperate with their own ailments, that probably lots of posts get overlooked. I really don't think it's intentional. I just think people are scared and fed up of feeling so rough, and it's hard to concentrate on anything else really. I'm new on here too, having lurked for a considerable time. Please don't take it personally - remember, we're all feeling awful, and this forum is here to sound off and read other people's experiences too, so that we know we're not alone. I've found it a Godsend. Take care Flowers

@TheDrsWife46 we’re your swabs private or NHS? I know you’ve said your DH isn’t actually a doctor Grin but presuming one of you must be a key worker?

The hospital I was at couldn’t text me as their policy is no Covid swab unless you’re admitted. Slightly frustrating but they’ve diagnosed me with it anyway.

@Norugratsatall sorry your post got missed i was skim reading and thought it was in with @godhelpusall who posted above you.

Sorry its taken you so long to leap on here especially as your around the same day as me etc. Lots of people on here have had the “toes” or even “fingers”.

Its just disgusting that we’ve all been thrown to the wolves to catch this thing without the government even attempting to observe, understand or learn from the protracted experiences of those contained at home.
