Support thread for those who've had Covid symptoms or post-viral fatigue for at least 7 weeks/49 days or longer.

If your symptoms haven't lasted that long, check out the Lung 7 thread (or later). It'll be more helpful as people there will be in a more similar position.

I'm thinking that I feel that I'm in 'Groundhog Day' as per the film. It feels like I'm having the same day over and over again and I can't escape.

Sorry, I'm a bit maudlin today. But then, I was already on anti-depressants before this started. Sad

Norugratsatall · 14/05/2020 12:06

@Mittens030869 Day 93?! Oh lord..... you poor thing. That's heading into your fourth month! 😳💐x

Norugratsatall · 14/05/2020 12:08

@Mittens030869 please keep posting and share how you're feeling, it can only help and don't apologise for being maudlin. Think we can all relate to that! 💐

Mittens030869 · 14/05/2020 12:19

Thank you so much. This is really helpful as it also stops me from burdening my poor DH too much. It's worse today for me, as last night my DD2 (8) was expressing her sadness that she couldn't see her friends and play with them. Mummies are supposed to be able to make things better but this isn't something I can do anything about. Sad

godhelpusall · 14/05/2020 12:24

@Mittens030869 I hear you. I have a 9yo daughter - it's such a struggle being ill and having children. Particularly in these circumstances. I too feel really down today. So overlooked by hcps. It's not like this in other countries, they are dealing with long term c19 cases in Italy, s Korea etc.

Lightsabre · 14/05/2020 12:28

@Linus1972, I had a bad reaction to ibuprofen despite using it occasionally prior to this. Within 10 minutes my chest really tightened up and I was even more short of breath than usual. It's a shame as I was really hoping it would help at this stage. I got a 5% gel which I'm going to try on a small area of my back today. Hoping that will be ok. I'm hoping that if I can get the back lung pain under control then that will help my breathing.

Lightsabre · 14/05/2020 12:32

@godhelpusall, I was pleased to see on the BBC news the other night that critical care cv patients have a whole rehab team including speech therapists, physios and psychiatrists. But, there is 0 support for people in the community - not even an examination unless you're bad enough to present at A and E . Crazy and I hope this is picked up in any enquiry.

Egghead68 · 14/05/2020 12:50

I feel so dizzy. Has anyone else had this? Sorry - I can’t remember if it’s been posted before. Day 54/55 - new symptom.

godhelpusall · 14/05/2020 12:57

@Egghead68 that's been one of my main symptoms. Is it when you walk? Or just sit up?

Egghead68 · 14/05/2020 13:18

Thanks @godhelpusall. Sorry you have it too. Even sitting down. Better when lying down.

godhelpusall · 14/05/2020 13:43

@Egghead68 it's awful. Hopefully like so many of these things it will clear off soon. I feel so sick and horrid.

Moodgie · 14/05/2020 13:54

Please, could someone repost the link to the breathing exercises, I think someone got them from a BLF nurse? I cannot find it. Thank you.

Silvergoldsilver · 14/05/2020 14:12

@Egghead68 I’m definitely having the dizziness also - have had it off and on for the past 2 weeks and it’s there when I’m sitting down as well as standing. I’m on day 51 now.

Mittens030869 · 14/05/2020 14:21

Yes I do sometimes experience dizziness. I experience it when I try to be active, so it means that this is one the reasons why I'm not able to be, as well as exhaustion permanently right now.

hollieberrie · 14/05/2020 14:24

I'm very dizzy, have been for the past 4 weeks. Am sure its connected to my ears which are both very blocked. @Eggghead68 @godhelpusall Do you have any ear pressure or blocked feeling at all?

I'm seeing a cranial osteopath on Mon and have a phone appointment with an ENT on Tues so am hoping they can help. It's getting me down terribly.

alittleprivacy · 14/05/2020 14:34

Is anyone taking evening primrose oil? I'm thinking that my sore breasts are probably more to do with perimenopause than this virus. (I do think the virus is having an effect but I think my life stage is too.) I just bought some EPO but don't want it to somehow make me feel worse either.

Kitcat122 · 14/05/2020 14:36

@Linus1972 I am the same. Got soo sick of the chest pain I started Nurofen. Felt much much better since. I too think it's inflammation and the ibuprofen has helped. I take it after food to. Actually stopped taking it last night weekend and feel much better (at the moment 🤞🤞).

godhelpusall · 14/05/2020 14:36

The dizziness is hideous. All of this is hideous. I want to wake up and be well. And for all of you also.

hollieberrie · 14/05/2020 14:38

Agreed it is hideous. I'm so tearful at this point. Day 63 for me.
Hugs for everyone. I hate this so much.

Linus1972 · 14/05/2020 14:39

@Kitcat122 that's good to know - I hope the chest pain stays away. How long did you take the Nurofen for?

godhelpusall · 14/05/2020 14:46

Have a virtual hug @hollieberrie . It's miserable. What are you doing now? Are you in bed?

alittleprivacy · 14/05/2020 14:52

@Linus1972 Feels like it's whack-a-mole with the symptoms.

That's so funny, I was describing something similar with my throat to my mum yesterday and she said it's like watching a cartoon of someone wallpapering. They see a bubble, push it down and another bubble pops up somewhere else instead. I 100% think it's to do with the ibuprofen. The ibuprofen takes away the worst of the pain of chest inflammation but it causes something that like a cross between a sore throat, a lump in my throat and vocal cord dysfunction. It makes it breathing less comfortable too. I've decided I prefer the chest/back pain to the throat issues, so am going to stick with ibuprofen gel only. Luckily, I don't have a lot of sternum pain at the moment, so it's just the stabbing pain in my right upper back at the moment.

hollieberrie · 14/05/2020 14:54

Thanks @godhelpusall Yes I'm in bed. I've been crying all week! Which I'm sure isn't helping my general sinus congestion and ears.
How are you doing? Mainly in bed too? Virtual hug back.

Mittens030869 · 14/05/2020 15:01

@hollieberrie Virtual hug from me, too, this has been such a shitty situation for all of us. I'm feeling very low, too, especially because I'm powerless to change the circumstances for my DDs. But I suppose the positive side is that I'm now well enough to feel something. For several weeks it was all about gasping for breath because of blocked airways.

At least we can support each other. ThanksThanks

hollieberrie · 14/05/2020 15:06

Thanks @Mittens030869 Hug received and much appreciated! Sorry about your dds, how are they doing?
Yes at least we can breathe and are now hopefully out of that fight for survival mode. I'm struggling a lot emotionally this past week. The double whammy this virus has left me with of high bp (meds just got increased) and blocked ears is taking some getting used to. I just want us all to feel better.
