Pandemic affecting menstrual cycle ?

Has the last 5-6 weeks affected your cycle ?

Yes! Been wondering whether to mention it. I seem to have missed about 3 periods/ovulation. Not that exact at tracking my cycle these days so can't be sure, but was on a c23 day cycle and haven't menstruated since well before schools closed, which is over 6 weeks ago.

To be fair, it could be menopause, but I suspect not, because I missed one period last year and the year before at times of great stress.

But who knows! Certainly can't be pregnant....

Mikki2019 · 03/05/2020 18:34

My last one was late and now this one too

Usually really regular

Although wondered too if menopause !

I'm 38 so unlikely to be menopausal and my last period was 5 days late and I'm now 2 days late. So I reckon there is something in it.

gamerchick · 03/05/2020 18:41

Yep was a week late and had the most horrendous period. Stress does funny things.

Isadora2007 · 03/05/2020 18:42

Yes but the opposite way- I’ve had a period every three weeks. 🙄

thewheelsonthebus23 · 03/05/2020 20:31

Mine have been early

YourVagesty · 03/05/2020 20:37

I started a thread about this a few weeks back and I was amazed at how many people replied with similar issues. You might be interested OP?

Sorry, don't know how to do a clicky link.

YourVagesty · 03/05/2020 20:37

Ah! Look at that. It turned itself into a clicky link Grin

Yes! Last period was mid Jan Confused. Pretty sure that I had the virus from around the start of March, started with horrendous night sweats and headaches and I thought I must be suddenly very perimenopausal (I’m 47) but the sweats stopped after 2-3 weeks. I’ve POAS three times as I got paranoid I would be that woman who thought she was menopausal but was in fact pg - but all negative. I don’t think I’m especially stressed...

I know someone else who had the virus and was 6 weeks late...

Laiste · 03/05/2020 21:19

Yes!! My last one was 2 whole weeks late. I'm usually a 28 day'er. Regular as clock work. I'm due on in 2 days (Tuesday) if i go the 28 this time. We'll see ...

Alepsa · 03/05/2020 21:21

Yes! My last cycle was weird AF and now I'm 4 days late this cycle. 100% not pregnant!

Laiste · 03/05/2020 21:21

Should add i don't know if i've had the virus. Wasn't any more stressed than usual back then. Am more stressed now because i'm getting wound up over the home schooling.

Laiste · 03/05/2020 21:22

OP you may have started the first MN live menstruation watch thread Grin

FanSpamTastic · 03/05/2020 21:29

I'm at home with 2 teenage DDs - we are a hotbed of hormones - seems to be permanent menstruation! Waiting for us all to align! I thought mine were on their way out but I'm more regular than ever.

StrawberryJam200 · 03/05/2020 21:39

So are some people thinking COVID could affect menstruation?? That hadn't occurred to me!

StrawberryJam200 · 03/05/2020 21:45

Aha, seems it could well be stress-induced:

stayathomegardener · 03/05/2020 21:49

@sleepwhenidie I've had the virus since mid March and still not great.

I can't decide if the sweating and broken sleep is viral or I've been bounced straight in to menopause without any build up.

I'm 51 so the right age.

Others with the virus have experienced very heavy bleeding so it does seem to affect hormones.

Toddlerteaplease · 03/05/2020 22:02

My last one was late. (Normally like clockwork) And this one doesn't seem to be getting going at all.

Itsjustmee · 03/05/2020 22:21

My last period in April was late by a week .
My most recent period was early by about a week
So roughly 3 weeks apart
I’m never late and I’ve always been 27/28 days

Bingeslayer · 03/05/2020 22:23

Yes I missed my last period, definitely not pregnant and had blood test to see if pre menopausal in January and that was clear

Kokapetl · 03/05/2020 22:35

Mine was late and then more painful than normal.

But they are often irregular anyway. For example if I do any long distance travelling they often end up a week late.

orangeicecream · 03/05/2020 22:43

That's so weird that you've posted about this! My last period (March) was a little late and lasted for 13 days (100% no chance of pregnant related issues as no sex in too many years to count) and since then nothing..... I had assumed menopause (44yrs old)

WingBingo · 03/05/2020 22:43

Well this is weird. My latest period was 3 weeks late and very short.

I usually bleed for 7 days, just 3 this cycle

OnTheMoors · 03/05/2020 22:49

Yes. I have regular cycles but have now missed 2 periods. I am 48, it so may be natural but a strange coincidence for it to suddenly stop?
