New thread for those having longer symptoms of Covid.

Someone posted this link elsewhere that suggests covid might have been around a little longer. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were some cases in the uk earlier in the outbreak given the amount of air travel back and forward. www.newsweek.com/coronavirus-outbreak-september-not-wuhan-1498566?fbclid=IwAR1iO1T9JuDr6fsJSfKX03iplLggckN2yc-pkYOi2c1UNquoi-D5Y-G2EBM.

D50 for me today. On a positive note i have been pottering around getting some work done, home school and the occasional short walk for several days. I am struggling though to shift the remaining symptoms. Chest pains and tightness with some shortness of breath vary, but are normally present in some form. Fatigue is also present although less all consuming than on some earlier days with this virus.

Moodgie · 30/04/2020 09:14

Morning everyone. Woken up and nausea again and runny tummy (it’s not watery but loose). Pains all over my tummy. Anyone else had this?

Meercatmama · 30/04/2020 09:16

Husband on Day 32 had a video conference with doctor about stomach pains and under left shoulder pain. She rang back after booking within 20mins. She said the stomach pains were due to his constipation and the pain under his shoulder could be muscle damage to the lungs as he has no fever or coughing anything up. However she is going to follow up with him tomorrow as she wants to keep an eye on it. She was really good and caring
.

Dorual · 30/04/2020 09:28

@meercatmama has he tried the fybogel and lactulose?

My chest feels worse when constipated. And sometimes I get pulled muscle type pains, even though I've done nothing active for a month!

Meercatmama · 30/04/2020 09:37

@Dorual
Thank you I am picking that up at the chemist when I get the rest of his medication today plus more Gaviscon and paracetamol. We feel like we are now rattling with medication but at least we are both improving slowly.

isitorisntit · 30/04/2020 09:40

Morning! Has anyone been prescribed omeprazole? I was given Doxycilin yesterday and she said she'd give me the omeprazole, too, but didn't say why. I didn't start the doxy as it says 1 in 10 get pericarditis - the reason for my call yesterday was a new heaviness/pressure in the centre, slightly left of centre of my chest with some sharp chest pain and should pain. I just want to see a real human. I trust my own doctor.

Silvergoldsilver · 30/04/2020 09:47

For those that are having stomach issues, I have mild crohn’s disease and I find that taking Buscopan often helps me in moments where I have cramps and it sometimes helps with nausea also. Also good old gripe water can help nausea if the nausea is related to wind. Worth a try, maybe!

faithinnature1 · 30/04/2020 10:03

I had a phone consultation with my GP and I'm not sure if it were reassuring or not! He said he isn't concerned that I still have chest pain, a painful cough or that my breathing is affected, it doesn't matter that it's been five weeks. If I am panting for breath with a high temp and can't get out of bed should I worry and he would prescribe antibiotics over the phone in case of a secondary bacterial infection. He said respiratory infections are common this time of year so whether it's covid or not I should just remain alert to it getting worse and if I feel ok, i.e. ok in that I'm able to speak without difficulty etc, then be pragmatic and don't worry. His job is to reassure so no point in saying yes it could be serious. It sounded like he is having the same discussion with a lot of patients! Not sure what to think really

mumlurker · 30/04/2020 10:08

Feeling pretty depressed today. Shortness of breath is back, as well as heart/lung pain. Getting horrible cramps in my legs at night but I can't move around enough in the day to alleviate them. Feel like I'm reaching breaking point to be honest.

Everyone who's had tests in these threads seems to have been told they're all clear - does this virus work in some weird way where it doesn't show up on normal tests?

LetsBeSensible · 30/04/2020 10:10

@OverTheRainbowLiesOz my oral thrush treatment is nystan drops, they are prescription only. It’s easy to see thrush on the tongue but I had a good nosey at my throat with the phone torch and the make up mirror and there were little patches on my throat as well.
D44 here, I did not love the corona programme last night. Going to catch up on the links on this thread.

JackJackIncredible · 30/04/2020 10:13

I had a raw mouth, tongue and throat from antibiotics. GP prescribed nystatin drops and a week of oral fluconazole. It worked a charm! If you’ve been on antibiotics and have unusual soreness in your mouth or throat, it may be thrush.

Porcupineinwaiting · 30/04/2020 10:20

Morning all.

It's my 6 week anniversary today. Yay me!

What can I say? When judged on a week by week basis, I am slowly improving. My last proper relapse was 5/6 days ago. I still feel viral rather than post viral though. What I would like from the next week (just incase the corona fairy is listening) is to move from one to the other.

SimpleKindofLife · 30/04/2020 10:43

Thanks @TheWooisStrong and for that link @stayathomegardener and @pinkoneblueone

I've been taking multivitamins with minerals, echinacea and probiotics for weeks, but I've just put this bounty in my Amazon basket too:

Zinc lozenges
Quercetin
Glycine
L lysine
Extra Vit C
Extra Vit D3

disclaimer: I have no medical qualifications and I have no idea if they will work or even if they will make things worse, but I'm so bloody desperate and 'paracetamol and rest' is doing bugger all!

SimpleKindofLife · 30/04/2020 10:46

Ha ha! @Porcupineinwaiting let's all pray to the corona fairy!

My dd7 wrote her fairies a letter about a week or so ago (she has a fairy door in her room) asking for the fairies to take away the coronavirus so she can see her friends and for her mummy to get better Sad

OP posts:
TheWooisStrong · 30/04/2020 10:47

@SimpleKindofLife I hope they help.

I'm coughing slightly today, and have a sore throat. But it feels like a "normal" sore throat - no doubt regular germs are still out there and I went out to the shops at the start of the week.

SimpleKindofLife · 30/04/2020 10:49

@mumlurker I think I've said before, I think the bastard hides in our bodies, it's creepy the way it behaves.

Wasn't there reports in China of the virus mutating so the fever started later on, so when they were doing the temperature checks at the borders, people started to not show signs of a temperature anymore? (I read this weeks ago, not sure how accurate it is!)

OP posts:
user34254356 · 30/04/2020 10:55

@Moodgie i have had the same for 2-3 days. I am on day 48

mumlurker · 30/04/2020 10:57

@SimpleKindofLife

It is creepy! I feel like I need a good exorcism!

user34254356 · 30/04/2020 10:57

@mumlurker i am feeling similar with aches and pains, chest pains back with raised heart rate. Been to see GP and not been offered bloods or x-ray and feeling really fobbed off now. Don't know what else to do apart from turning up at A and E though i suspect like others most test results could be fine

SimpleKindofLife · 30/04/2020 10:58

@alittleprivacy that's an interesting article about Korea. I wish the UK were more proactive. The strategy of 'suck it up at home with paracetamol until your at death's door' doesn't seem to be working very well!

OP posts:
SimpleKindofLife · 30/04/2020 11:01

@mumlurker I wouldn't rule out trying anything at this stage! Grin

OP posts:
mumlurker · 30/04/2020 11:03

@user34254356

I honestly feel like my GP has treated me like a silly little girl worrying her head over nothing. I was even told that medical professionals were also anxious given how high risk they were, as if I was being self-absorbed to be concerned about 7 weeks of symptoms. I do understand what she's saying, but still...

Most of the time I think yes, it's probably just post viral fatigue/ongoing inflammation. But when I'm having a crap day it's easy to think something more sinister is going on!

SimpleKindofLife · 30/04/2020 11:05

@user34254356 ask your GP outright to be referred for bloods and a chest x-ray. I suspect they will be clear too, like all of us, but if you're worried, you deserve to be checked out and given reassurance.

If your GP refuses and you're still feeling ill, go to A&E Thanks

OP posts:
user34254356 · 30/04/2020 11:12

@mumlurker have you also been refused any testing by your GP?

If this doesn't abate by tonight or tomorrow then i plan go to to A and E.

Lightsabre · 30/04/2020 11:16

@isitorisntit, I also have Doxycycline and was about to start it this morning but had another funny turn yesterday. A crushing sensation in my chest and then shoulder pain - I can't even talk and walk at the same time. Managed to get home but it frightened me and today I feel really breathless and weak again similar to the earlier days (I'm Day 34 now). I really want an ECG and am awaiting a GP call back. I have a tight chest also but no soreness or congestion and, joy of joys, oral thrush from earlier antibiotics. The Nystan drops make me gag and I've got another 10 days of those four times a day!
As you can tell, I'm feeling really pissed off.
