New thread for those having longer symptoms of Covid.

OP posts:
maria860 · 29/04/2020 16:39

I've had breathing issues since March I've finally had enough and rang 111 today I'm 21 weeks pregnant I'm wheezy and breathless no other symptoms now just the breathing. They prescribed an inhaler has anyone tried this and it helped Thankyou I'm so down now :-(

Egghead68 · 29/04/2020 16:45

@moodgie I am mainly ok (mild intermittent sore throat, chest pain, fatigue, breathlessness, reflux, catarrh, raspy voice, cough) apart from odd days where I am overcome with fatigue and have to take to my bed.

Egghead68 · 29/04/2020 16:48

Thanks for the anti-inflammatory advice everyone. Sounds like many of us are using diet. I will look into matcha tea and aloe Vera - thanks for the suggestions.

Egghead68 · 29/04/2020 16:51

@maria860 sorry you are suffering on top of being pregnant. Is it a blue inhaler called salbutamol? I guess whether it helps depends on the cause of your breathlessness (e.g. cardiac versus pulmonary). Fingers crossed it does.

Needsomegoodnews · 29/04/2020 16:54

Found you all, here in the group no one wants to be in!

I've just had a chat with my GP who has booked me in for a chest x-ray due to the sternum and rib pain continuing now at 6 weeks. I know lots here have had them and they've been clear, so I'm hopeful that that will be the case as my breathing doesn't feel too bad but they want to rule out any niggling issues at this stage. He did reiterate that recovery over all of this is likely to be slow and heart palpitations and lightheadedness would be associated with viral recovery as there's lots of internal repair needed.

toothfairy73 · 29/04/2020 16:57

I haven't been reading since the first thread. I've had steroids at the beginning, then a course of antibiotics a couple of weeks ago. Lungs continued to ache. I am 5 weeks in. The last week or so I got worse and had to go back to bed for the week. I was admitted to hospital yesterday as Monday night I just couldn't breathe after walking a couple of meters. It subsided so emergency drs said I could go to hospital the following day.

My chest X-ray is clear, my oxygen levels, blood pressure and heart all ok. Why white count was really high. (22 as opposed to 10).

I have been swobbed for Covid and am waiting for the results which apparently will come today.

I have been prescribed doxycycline, initially intravenously and now in tablet form. They are talking about letting me go home soon as I can now walk without getting breathless. I am very wobbly on my feet though and just exhausted. I can now sit up for short periods without my lungs hurting. Prior to my admittance I could only lay on my front.

wildthingsinthenight · 29/04/2020 17:04

I've posted a few times on this thread and been a longtime lurker. I'm always ignored and I wondered why? Am I missing something or doing something wrong?

mumlurker · 29/04/2020 17:04

@toothfairy73

Wow that sounds intense. I'm glad to hear there's some improvement. Although it's terrible to have to be admitted, I hope being properly checked over and monitored has been reassuring.

maria860 · 29/04/2020 17:06

What do u mean by cardiac ? I'm not sure what is wrong with me I've had this since March 10th and nobody cares from what I can see yes I can function and things unlike some on this thread but I can't breath properly and haven't been able to for ages but it has come and gone some days I've been fine and days like today and yesterday I feel like I'm struggling . I'm literally trying not to cry today as I'm exhausted with my chest feeling like it's going to give up on me and now I've got a constant cough alongside it which I didn't have before. I am not sure I have covid or what is wrong I just want a doctor to check my chest for me and no one will saying I have to self isolate I've self isolated for weeks and weeks now what shall I do next guys I'm at a loss. ?

Needsomegoodnews · 29/04/2020 17:08

@toothfairy73 that sounds rough - reassuring that tests were ok but then it leaves the question of what is going on to cause such severe symptoms.

fedupofbed · 29/04/2020 17:09

@WanderingLost167 I had no side effects from doxycycline (but terrible with clarithromycin).

@wildthingsinthenight not migraines as such but quite sharp intense headaches that seem to come with other symptoms and then disappear quite quickly.

@maria860 congratulations but really sorry that you're experiencing this in top of being pregnant. I was prescribed salbutamol and have found it helpful. My breathlessness, unlike many others, has always felt very dry. I never got pneumonia, a 'crackly' feeling or produced any mucus. More of a tight restricted feeling. If that's similar to you, then hopefully it may help.

toothfairy73 · 29/04/2020 17:10

@Needsomegoodnews I know. They are working on there being an underlying bacterial infection but where? Not sure if they will care on investigating.

@wildthingsinthenight that happens to me a lot too. I don't think it's personal, I think sometimes if there are lots of new posts it's easy to miss someone.

Sweetie60 · 29/04/2020 17:11

Just adding to the heart issues thread here.....I have had two nights at A&E in the last 3 weeks (including last night) with racing heart (130-150bps), feeling it was going to jump out of my chest, nausea, and chest and back pain. Did ECG, bloods etc. and all were normal both times. Both times, anxiety was mentioned, which I swiftly batted back - in each case, the incident lasted for 4 hours and 6 hours. I have had the odd anxiety attack in the past but nothing more than a few minutes. My GP thinks possibly inflammation caused by virus, which will gradually improve, but couldn't say how long. I am just debating whether it is worth pushing to see a cardiologist.

Sweetie60 · 29/04/2020 17:12

Should have added, all the infections markers were normal too, which apparently shows no active infection, but didn't rule out inflammation.

wildthingsinthenight · 29/04/2020 17:14

toothfairy73 thanks for answering xx

wildthingsinthenight · 29/04/2020 17:18

fedupofbed great name
Thanks. These are prolonged and very much like migraines so maybe not the same. Could be brought on by stress maybe

SimpleKindofLife · 29/04/2020 17:22

@wildthingsinthenight happened to me on the first few lungs threads too! I think it's just luck/timing. Thanks

I had a big dip again earlier. Heart palpitations, trouble breathing, severe stabbing pain in my left side, pins and needles in my arms, lightheaded, flashing lights, chest feeling like it was slushing, juddering and whirling around.

Called my GP who called back quite quickly and reassured me that all my tests I had done at A&E were clear and that she'd spoken to lots of people like me and I wasn't alone. She said she thinks I'm fine, it's just part of the virus/recovery, but to go to A&E again if I was worried. I don't feel like I can go to A&E again... i'm not sure what they would know what do with me?! thankfully it's just started to settle down now.

Not sure I can take much more of this though Sad

@toothfairy73 that sounds awful you poor thing, must have been so terrifying. I hope you're getting good care in hospital and you continue to improve 💐.

@maria860 I replied before reading your second post. Sounds like you're having a rotten time too and not getting much medical support. If it's really bad have you considered just turning up at your local A&E? It sounds like you really need some help.

@wildthingsinthenight sorry you feel ignored! Sometimes there are just so many posts flying around, and I only tend to reply if I have that particular symptom. I find it impossible to keep up!

SimpleKindofLife · 29/04/2020 17:25

@Sweetie60 Do you think you'd be able to see a cardiologist any time soon though? Would the GP refer you?

OP posts:
SimpleKindofLife · 29/04/2020 17:26

@maria860 go to A&E, get checked out Thanks

OP posts:
toothfairy73 · 29/04/2020 17:31

@Sweetie60 I've just remembered I've also had moments where I've felt like my heart jumped out of my chest; like getting a big fright suddenly when resting... might have to mention that to the drs when they come round

Needsomegoodnews · 29/04/2020 17:36

@wildthingsinthenight I get it too - sometimes these threads move really quickly so I try not to take it personally and I find sometimes I'm posting just to say what's going on for me as seeing others posts like that has really helped me and it seems people might only reply if something particular relates at that time. Regarding your migraine query - I haven't had migraines but do get a weird lightheaded feeling (sometimes like a bit spaced out or woozy) quite regularly, which is unnerving and seems like something's not right in my brain (but I suspect it's linked to heart/blood pressure being all over the place).

EngagedAgain · 29/04/2020 17:44

Place marking..

Busybee37 · 29/04/2020 17:47

@maria860 sorry you are having a tough time. Have you tried getting a telephone appointment with your GP? I managed to get one with a sympathetic doctor and he referred me to a Covid clinic at another GP surgery to be checked over - I found it very reassuring

Sweetie60 · 29/04/2020 17:48

@simplekindoflife I don't know whether he will but I am going to ask! It may be that it's not going to happen soon, but I really want to know at some point whether this wretched virus has done any long term harm.

@toothfairy73 I recognise that feeling. It feels as though I have got too much adrenaline pumping around me and nothing I can do (breathing, staying calm, distraction) seems to control it. In each case, after a few hours in A&E my heart rate eventually stabilises to a more normal level, but I feel really tired the next day. I am also getting something similar when I try and do any exercise - even a brief walk. Heart rate shoots up.
