New thread for those having longer symptoms of Covid.

@stayathomegardener, thank you for your comment. I am in tears now again because my hands are powerless. I had good morning but mentally depressed after I receive an email from a friend and started thinking of covid 19 negatively.

I am glad here because I feel I am not alone.

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8257133/Jeremy-Corbyns-brother-Piers-73-leads-protest-against-coronavirus-lockdown.html

I wouldn't wish this horrible virus on anyone but why aren't muppets like Piers Corbyn getting it?! So apparently the pandemic is a lie and it's just flu... 'CV flu'! Idiots.

Bless you @mumto3little. I think it best not to open / read things that make us anxious.

I think I may possibly have caught the virus. I've not been out at all, neither have the children. Only dh so it must be via him or from parcel / grocery surfaces. It doesn't matter really.

I feel like I've been going downhill for a few days. Last night I woke up and had a bout of diarrhoea, my heart was racing. Now this morning I'm exhausted, feel sick, banging head, dizzy.

I suppose it could be anything really. But I feel bad enough to wonder if this is it.

mumto3little · 01/05/2020 10:33

@Meercatmama Thank you very much for your comment. I want to believe that it is just taking time to get recovered as you say. I may need antidepressants. I am mentally very depressed recently and cannot control my emotion well. I will contact with my GP and ask if I can have antidepressants. I think mental problem is a serious aspect of covid19. I had very good morning today. But I just got weaken after I read e-mail from a friend.

Linus1972 · 01/05/2020 10:38

@pinkoneblueone your symptoms sound similar to mine - esp the costochondritis with the rib swelling and the pain around the left side of the chest (and tests not showing anything). And I'm just taking Gavascon before bed as well. Last night I got 7 hours of sleep which is the most I've had so far (Day 42 - I'm at 6 weeks now). Using ibuprofen gel on my chest has helped although the pains pop up everywhere so it's like whack-a-mole and it's probably not good to be putting too much gel everywhere. Have you been taking oral ibuprofen (and if so, did it help) - I'm considering switching to that. My doctor this morning at first said you shouldn't take it but then said it was OK to take it if you'd tried other things that hadn't worked.

After monitoring my blood pressure for two weeks he is going to put me on a low dose of ramipril. I don't know if it's high because of the virus or the pain or the anxiety but it's been consistently around 143/95. I'm hoping that when I finally shake this virus and the chest pain goes, and I can go back to walking 10,000 steps a day, my blood pressure will go back down to normal and I can come off the tablets. Or maybe I'll be on them now forever. It just feels like everyone's in uncharted territory with this virus and there's nobody to say "This is the right thing to do."

mumto3little · 01/05/2020 10:38

@Tangledyarn, thank you very much. I also believe I am just on the way to recovery. I had very good morning at least.

mumto3little · 01/05/2020 10:41

@Egghead68 yes, I am in tears again here. It is hard, isn't it? I had very good days and symptoms returned. I don't know what happen in my body. But let's try to keep positive. You are not alone. I am in the same boat with you.

mumto3little · 01/05/2020 10:48

@Whiskas1Kittens, I will not open at the next time. Today at least I didn't see the article, which a friend sent to me. Most of information is uncertain. So, I don't want to be controlled by them.

I also don't know how I caught the virus. I have DH and three children. But I should had many chance as I also went out often at that time as it was before lockdown. But it doesn't matter now.

I have a friend who had similar symptoms with you but got recovered after two weeks. Breathlessness is the most serious problem for Covid 19, so you should be fine now. Please take a rest and stay positive. I am also trying it here.

Mesomeplace · 01/05/2020 10:48

So glad to find this thread I thought I was on my own!!

Lightsabre · 01/05/2020 10:50

@toothfairy73, I was in the same hospital as you yesterday in A and E. I was thoroughly checked over and had blood tests and an X-ray. They can't explain why I'm so breathless still. My Lymphocytes were fine. My Covid test on Saturday was negative (self administered drive through). Interestingly, the doctor said that on the wards they were having to test a significant amount of people up to four/five times before they get a positive result.

Lightsabre · 01/05/2020 10:51

@toothfairy73, sorry meant to say hope you get some answers and can go home to rest once they know what's wrong.

Mesomeplace · 01/05/2020 10:53

I haven't yet read all the posts but I'm 4 maybe 5 weeks in. Have awful breathlessness if I get out of bed and tummy trouble. I had a whole weekend where I thought I was better. Three days of normal ish breathing and then Monday couldn't move again nor breath but my finger pulse oximeter showed normal reading. I've been in bed all week and it's calming down today. Anyone else?

Rosesofeyam · 01/05/2020 11:11

I'm up, haven't had a shower yet as I feel a little unsteady.
Still waiting for appointment via phone.
A little shaky and SOB/wheezy.
My chest is painful and my lungs feel twitchy.

I'm going to try and make lemon curd muffins today, DS ( 23) is going to help.Grin

@onlinelinda I have wondered if my 'dips' were caused.by exercising too quickly, diverting my body from repair to supporting the exercise.

I'd say that they almost certainly were. It's something a lot of us here and on the slack group have found. As well as that, my ds had glandular fever last year and his initial symptoms were constantly activated/worsened by exercise. (Sports/skating/etc.) And once he was eventually diagnosed with glandular fever I was told to keep him as completely rested as I could for 6 weeks because exercising after glandular fever can cause a relapse/post-viral syndrome. (He'd also had an enlarged spleen so contact sports were banned for 6 months, but that's probably not an issue here. Actually thinking about it, it might be an idea to be very careful with contact sports for at least the rest of the year, just in case.)

I think that if I'd known not to exercise when I'd recovered 3.5 weeks ago that I'd be out of the woods now. (Obviously that's just speculation.) In fact, I think if I hadn't exercised on March 18th, that my initial illness might have been even milder. Because both my initial illness and my relapse happened immediately after exercise. And I feel it now when I have a more active day that I really, really need to rest significantly more the next day.

It's all about learning the subtle signs. Because while I'm not 100% right now I'm not feeling much worse than I often would on a bit of an off day in normal life. If I felt like this a year ago, I would have gotten up and gone about my day as normal, including down a long cardio-endurance session if I'd felt like it. And if anything, I'd have felt better for it. But now I know I'm in a post-viral phase of an illness the likes of which my body has never experienced and my immune system needs me to prioritise rest and maybe sone gentle exercise like walks and stretches. I will get better before too long, this will eventually be a shit memory. But the sooner I'm back to normal depends on how much I just rest now!

Meercatmama · 01/05/2020 11:17

Hi spoke to my doctor and she said this that some people go through a couple of days where the symptoms return a bit. She also said that this is the stage that a very few people get blood clots ( and she emphasised a very few people) She said the pains and heaviness in my arms are part of the virus and it would be unusual in heart problems to have it in both arms such as I have. The only symptom that I have to monitor is the breathlessness if it gets worse. She told me to return to bed take paracetamol every 4 hours drink loads and eat well. Most of all rest and sleep as that aids the body to heal. Taking heart from that and I am now back in bed taking her advice

Rosesofeyam · 01/05/2020 11:23

Oh and how I caught the virus.
I think I got it from the doctors. In the waiting room there were two teenagers with bad coughs after returning from a ski trip or when I had a chest x-ray at the hospital. All in the same week. Who knows.Hmm

Egghead68 · 01/05/2020 11:27

I think I caught from my colleagues, many of whom have had it.

Rosesofeyam · 01/05/2020 11:30

I definitely have a better day if I take it easy.
When I do too much it just sends everything haywire. I feel like I'm back to square one again.
Just fed up of feeling like this.

DumberthanDumb · 01/05/2020 11:38

Hi.

Day 41 here. My main symptoms have (from day one) been connected to my lungs; shortness of breath, heavy feeling in chest and throat, palpitations, fast heart rate, strange sensations in chest, pains breathing in, flutterings, cold hands and feet. Never had temperature or cough. Thought I was improving a week or so ago - almost felt normal, but it seems to wax and wane, just like most other people have said. Every few days, I seem to get that dreadful heavy feeling back, whereby my throat and chest feel constricted, and I find I'm working harder to breathe.

I am due to go back to work w/c 18th May, and do a physical job. Wondering if I'll be well enough, but am not getting paid being off, so no income coming in. Have no choice really :(

If anyone else has/is experiencing similar symptoms at 40 days plus, I'd love to share experiences. This is really beginning to get me down. Fed up of feeling so ill.

Hope others have more positive results at this stage.

Moodgie · 01/05/2020 11:47

@alittleprivacy Great post. I also think a run I did at the end of my first two weeks was a huge mistake - well, it obviously was and things may have been different if I had rested and took time of work. A few of us mentioned in the earlier threads about the exercise early on and whether that set us back.
@DumberthanDumb I had no fever or cough either.
No sore throat today - back to a scratchy throat though. Great.
Spoke to a GP this morning and mentioned symptoms (nausea and runny tummy in the mornings, breathing being off at times, on and off fatigue, throat/windpipe/phlegmy feeling, heart rate) - his suggestion is blood tests to show whether there is active infection or whether it is post viral, which he thinks fits the picture. Also mentioned his knowledge of people taking several weeks.

Silvergoldsilver · 01/05/2020 11:56

@DumberthanDumb Your symptoms sound exactly the same as mine and I’m on day 40. I get bad headaches also, and sometimes with a very hot feeling head, but when I check my temperature, it’s normal. Helps to know we’re in the same boat. Hope you’ll be ok going back to work but don’t risk it if you feel awful!

@Moodgie I went for my first stroll yesterday after nearly 6 weeks of isolation also and I was glad that I did it. Slow movements in the fresh air was nice. Went out again this morning and feeling more tired and breathless from it today, so would definitely say build it up very slowly and see how you feel.

alittleprivacy · 01/05/2020 11:57

Alright guys. The weather here is very showery but it seems like we're getting a bit of a sunny spell. So I am going to get dressed and go for a little walk. The really special part is, I may just put on a bra!!! And even go totally cray-cray and wear jeans! But really it's the bra that's the big deal. But I feel like my chest inflammation has receded enough for me to support my boobs!!!

Egghead68 · 01/05/2020 12:04

My resting heart rate is 117 today. I am wondering about going to A&E.

Silvergoldsilver · 01/05/2020 12:05

@alittleprivacy Great news on the reduced chest inflammation and bra! I wasn’t quite so brave and just covered my braless self with loose layers on my walk this morning but I did wear some fun stretchy leggings. Enjoy and let us know how it went!
