New thread for those having longer symptoms of Covid.

OP posts:
Moodgie · 01/05/2020 12:14

Thank you @silvergoldsilver. I am a bit worried it will set me back. I have had so many better moments when I thought it was going and can’t face another dip.

DumberthanDumb · 01/05/2020 12:20

@Moodgie - interesting what your GP says. I can never get hold of mine, receptionist just keeps referring me to NHS 111, and then I hold for an age and either a) give up or b) get told the same thing each time. It's like groundhog day! Are you going to make an appointment to have some tests done, do you think?

@Silvergoldsilver - it's funny what you said about bad headaches. I have a really bad head now - but more fuzzy and dull than sharp pain. My temp is normal, too. Yes, it does seem we're in the same boat! Bloody awful, isn't it?!

@Egghead68 - I'd definitely get checked out, if only for peace of mind.

TheWooisStrong · 01/05/2020 12:27

I thought I was completely recovered, went out for a long walk/run yesterday and woke up at 4am pounding heart and short of breath.
Sore throat and coughing again today, pain the top of my back between my shoulder blades and higher.
Exercise is what’s setting me back, so I’ve resigned myself to another long weekend of sitting on the sofa.

Moodgie · 01/05/2020 12:28

@DumberthanDumb Have you got an online booking system on your surgery’s website? If not, maybe say to the receptionist how long you have been unwell for and that you need to talk to someone. Yes, I have made an appointment for Monday.

Moodgie · 01/05/2020 12:34

@TheWooisStrong Oh no, how many good days did you have before your walk and run? I was going to go out today but I’m torn.

UndertheCedartree · 01/05/2020 12:35

Been really interesting reading this thread and finding out symptoms others are having. I didn't know acid reflux was linked to Covid - I thought it was cos I was lying down a lot!

I'm not as far along - I'm on day 19. I have been having a relapse everytime I think I'm improving. I had one a couple of days ago and have been admitted to hospital. I had oxygen through a nasal canula initially but my sats are ok now. It appears I have a secondary infection. But positively my chest xray shows the corona is starting to clear from my lungs. Sending restful thoughts and health and happiness to all.

Rosesofeyam · 01/05/2020 12:37

dumberthandumb
I think a lot of us here have your symptoms.

DumberthanDumb · 01/05/2020 12:38

@Moodgie - No, unfortunately our GP surgery is nigh on useless. You can't book in advance at all, whether online or via phone, and all you can do is ring up on the day itself at 8am to see if you can get to see anyone - under normal circumstances. But, if they think any of your symptoms are remotely covid19 related, they simply refuse to see you, and tell you to speak to 111! It's a bloody merry-go-round.

DumberthanDumb · 01/05/2020 12:42

@Rosesofeyam - it's very comforting to know that - thank God for this forum. You tend to feel so alone, especially at night, when all is silent, and you simply can't catch a decent breath. The chest/lung/respiratory sensations are so weird and crazy, never felt anything remotely similar before in all my 50 years. I suffer with asthma in the summer only (combined with my hayfever, only when it's severe), and that is a totally different feeling to what this is - as is anxiety. If they could just stop palming us off with those two ailments for a start, it would be less insulting!!

Moodgie · 01/05/2020 12:43

@DumbandDumber When I called the Covid 111 at some point, a few weeks in, they told me to call the normal 111, so maybe do that? I didn’t, I just called the GP, but maybe they will help? They may also advise you to contact your GP in which case the receptionist will have to sort it for you.

Rosesofeyam · 01/05/2020 12:43

Just spoke to my consultant.
They think I'm post viral.
I have been told to do as much exercise as I can to stop muscle wastage, help with my joints.
My consultant said it will take as long as it takes to get better. One day at a time.

DumberthanDumb · 01/05/2020 12:49

@Moodgie - Yes, I did that in the early days. They arranged an ECG and bloods for me, which all came back fine. It was like Fort Knox at my GP surgery back then, there were literally no patients there except me. I had a Spanish inquisition at the door, then led through some sparse corridors very surreptitiously! It was so bizarre. Spoke to the normal 111 a couple of weeks ago, and a lovely paramedic called me back. Talked me through everything, and said the usual - rest, rest, rest. The receptionists at my surgery are so miserable. Will avoid them if at all possible!

In all my 50 years, even with bad chest infections I've never been this ill or taken this long to get back on my feet.
I can totally relate.

Meercatmama · 01/05/2020 12:55

The doctors are all saying now post viral and it will take as long as it takes. Husband had the follow up call from his GP and he said the same but has booked him in for a blood test to check his kidney functions. They also said rest, fluids etc.
Now I am back in bed and back on the paracetamol feeling a bit better and very tired. Still aching in my arms but not so bad, occasional breathlessness but I can cope with this. Hopefully this will be the last dip and this virus will leave me alone.

DumberthanDumb · 01/05/2020 12:57

@Rosesofeyam - :( so horrible for us all, isn't it? x

TheWooisStrong · 01/05/2020 12:58

@Moodgie a good 5 days! I’m hoping this relapse will be minor and I’ll be fully better quickly.

Moodgie · 01/05/2020 12:59

@Meercatmama @Rosesofeyam Could you please list what symptoms you mentioned that were classed as post viral? Seeking some reassurance.

Egghead68 · 01/05/2020 13:03

Just spoke to my consultant.
They think I'm post viral.
I have been told to do as much exercise as I can to stop muscle wastage, help with my joints.

@Rosesofeyam that’s what I was told by my respiratory consultant but I am worried that the exercise contributed to relapses and chest pain.

I have a Gp phone appointment this afternoon as my resting heart rate is higher than it has ever been throughout this. I will report back.

stayathomegardener · 01/05/2020 13:06

@TheWooisStrong frustrating to hear you have dipped again but agree it's linked to overdoing it.

I'm back on the up again.

Welcome to @canadacalling the thread non of us want to be on.

All awaiting positive news from graduates, I think some original posters are up to day 70 now.

fedupofbed · 01/05/2020 13:13

Hi everyone, checking in day 62.

Yesterday afternoon the palpitations and burning sensations left for a bit to be replaced by the sore throat and some new interesting sharp head pains. They have gone again today though and the palpitations/burning are back, hooray. Still feeling breathless, nauseous, fatigued and mild raised temperature.

Insomnia is really getting to me. It's been weeks since I've had more than a few hours at a time and I know that this is really contributing to how bad I feel. I've ordered my CBD oil @Crayfishforyou ! I'm also looking in to ordering some eye wateringly expensive probiotic supplements to improve my gut biome but not sure I can justify the cost. Very expensive this illness!

@UndertheCedartree sounds like you're having a really tough time, so sorry. I hope you're back home soon.

@Egghead68 thinking of you... that does seem very high, best get it checked out?

Meercatmama · 01/05/2020 13:44

My symptoms post viral have been tiredness, shortness of breath, moving pains in my lungs, backache, muzzy headaches, small amount of nausea, not feeling like eating, now heavy aching arms, intermittent sore throat and dry cough, burping, being a bit lightheaded on occasions, flashes of temperature and cold feet
Listing these makes it seem a lot. Add into that the anxiety and sadness which make it worse. Days can vary from being good to being like today awful. Although I do feel better now I am resting in bed. Hopefully this is the last dip.

Rosesofeyam · 01/05/2020 13:48

moodgie
Worsening of joint/muscle pains.
SOB
Headaches
Tiredness
Shaky
Balance issues
Foggy memory

As well as all the on going issues of chest pain, shoulder pain, twitchy lungs, glands up,GERD, wind and diarrhoea.
Gosh that is a list. Blush

Rosesofeyam · 01/05/2020 13:53

egghead
Yes, I thought that. They did tell me to do exercise at my own pace, listen to my body and to only do as much as I'm able to.
I'm not going to over do things at the moment as it makes me feel ten times worse.

emoojoo · 01/05/2020 13:55

@Moodgie those post viral symptom lists same for me, gp thinks they are post viral too. I've had terrible GI issues later on (day 41) and I have also had burning skin sensations this week (back of legs, top of arms) and still getting raised temps - this am was 38 again.
