How long for test results?

mnahmnah · 29/04/2020 09:01

Hi

DH has gone to get tested this morning at one of the drive through centres. It says it takes 48 hours for the results. Has anyone else done this please? Was it 48 hours, sooner or longer for results? Thanks!

He’s just ring the helpline again. They said that as this is day 5 he has to wait until the end of the day, then ring again. Apparently they’ve had phone calls from people who have been waiting 8 days!!!

Also, they said there’s been some issues with the tests themselves, so he may have to book another test Angry

I had a test on Saturday morning at a drive through centre and received a positive result this morning. A nurse rang me.

Purplewithred · 04/05/2020 11:50

Drive through on Sunday. Relatively smooth but it's definitely worth 'opening the link' they text you before you get to the test centre as mine struggled to load. Our lot were good about checking you'd read the info before moving on, but didnt check my photo ID so I could have been anyone!

I really wouldn't want to do my own swabs - I doubt I'd have been as thorough as they were!

mnahmnah · 04/05/2020 12:22

@Sicktiredanddown

Sorry to hear you tested positive. Hope you’re feeling ok! Do you mind me asking which test centre it was?

@Purplewithred

DH had to self swab. I wonder if this is the difference

I’d rather not say, if that’s ok. The centre is in a rural county and I was the only one there. All very efficient. I feel ok, just really tired and wiped out, feel better for staying in bed and resting.

mnahmnah · 04/05/2020 13:14

No problem! Sounds like that’s why you got the result so quickly. Get better soon

Mine was in London and I got the result by text literally on the 48th hour.

PumpkinPie2016 · 04/05/2020 16:35

My parents got their results (both negative) within 24 hours.

PrayingandHoping · 04/05/2020 16:41

My friend got a positive result back within 24 hours. She went to Enfield

mnahmnah · 04/05/2020 16:55

He’s phoned again. They can’t find any trace of his test on the system! Checked his number 3 times. Went through their supervisor and above. All they said was they couldn’t do anything and to book a new test. He’s tried to do that and there are no times for two weeks. It’s also only showing testing centres in big cities and not the one he went to.

Fuming. No idea what we’re supposed to do.

I went to a drive in centre today, I had a QR code & got handed a card at the end. Am I meant to do something with that card? They have my number as they texted me.

mnahmnah · 04/05/2020 18:20

I think the card is just in case you need to contact them. DH said he can’t remember them scanning the code on his test and just told him to put it in the collection bin. So that would explain why he hasn’t had any contact and isn’t on the system. You had a text at least

I've had four colleagues tested (NHS). One was 24 hours the rest were 48. None were longer.

Anyonewannawoo · 04/05/2020 20:36

We were rang up today and we were told it’s five working days!

A bloody pandemic and I’m a key worker for the labs not to be working on a weekend!

We were tested in Birmingham and the whole thing was a shit show with the army throwing the tests in our back window and the whole thing took nearly two hours.

mnahmnah · 04/05/2020 20:55

@Anyonewannawoo

I really hope you’re not going to be in our situation then. DH also said one person said he’d done it wrong, another said it was right, no scan. And now, no result and no way of booking another

Anyonewannawoo · 04/05/2020 21:08

@mnahmnah

Luckily when I called up today they did say it is in the test centre so we should be getting it back in the next couple of days.

At least we’ve got a slight amount of peace knowing it’s in the test centre/registered. But as we had symptoms for a couple of days before trying to get a test, plus three days waiting for the test and now nearly 7 days waiting for a reply we might as well rode out the two week isolation period and had a game plan instead of being called everyday asking for a test update.

mnahmnah · 05/05/2020 09:53

It must have been a system crash last night. He’s got booked in straight away this morning at the same test centre as last time. However, the process online had changed and they gave him a code and scanning image to use as soon as he gets there. They clearly messed up with a few tests didn’t they?

OP posts:
mnahmnah · 06/05/2020 09:12

Totally different when he went for his test this time. No messing about with flip charts and sheets of paper. Only one stop, not four. It was the army doing it. Clearly the previous people didn’t know what they were doing. It wasn’t self-swab this time either. Very quiet though, only one other person there. They’ve said two days so fingers crossed this time we will get a result!

OP posts:
wembollian · 06/05/2020 14:58

I went to a test site on Monday morning. It was run by the army but self-administered, four different stops and flip charts. We were told somebody would check we'd done it right, but then that person said they didn't need to and we should just hand it in.

I haven't had the results yet, and I'm getting a bit concerned that it'll be lost or something after reading this!

mnahmnah · 06/05/2020 16:18

@wembollian

Yes that’s very similar to DH’s first one! Except it wasn’t the army that time. Did they scan it? Have you had a text confirmation? That was the big difference with his second test

OP posts:
mnahmnah · 06/05/2020 16:20

@wembollian

If no text, I would ring the helpline and check you are definitely in the system, rather than waiting 6 days like us

DH and DD3 had home tests. Very efficient. Amazon delivered and a courier picked up the next morning. Picked up on Sunday and results yesterday.

I went to a test centre in the South on Sunday. My QR Code didn't work, so I had to register again at the centre. I did my test at 9 am Sunday, but haven't had the results yet. DH can't return to work until my result is in.

wembollian · 06/05/2020 16:25

No, definitely no text confirmation! I'll ring now! Thank you.

Laniakea · 06/05/2020 16:36

We had home tests - courier collected them on Sunday, we were texted our results yesterday. It seems to be much more efficient than the drive through centres!

wembollian · 06/05/2020 17:03

That's like us @Lougle. My DH wants to get back to work.

I've just called and they said they don't do confirmation texts Confused so I'm not feeling very reassured!
