Just a Yes or No thread there are hundreds on the ins and outs of this.

This morning I read that Matt Hancock is claiming support for an extension is strong amongst the public but that’s not the impression I’m getting from social media

So, will you stick to the rules if lockdown in the UK is extended for another 3 weeks

Yes or No

Yes, because I'm not an idiot!

MrsWhites · 29/04/2020 08:12

Yes, again actual rules.

CeeCeeEnnEss · 29/04/2020 08:53

If there’s a definite end date and exit plan then yes.

If there is not, then no. I will take my DD to visit my parents. None of us have been out anywhere since the beginning. Alternatively, I will combine households with another friend with a DD my daughter’s age, who again haven’t been anywhere since the beginning.

wanderings · 29/04/2020 09:58

@CeeCeeEnnEss I'm glad you and I agree; I'm fed up with the government fucking with our heads by refusing to tell us anything about exit strategy. If they could just tell us some fucking dates, it would be bearable. If they keep peddling the line "we can't trust you with this, it might confuse you, pleeeeeeeeeeeease be patient", they will not have some of us on side for much longer.

Read an article in the Times last night saying the German R rate has now gone up to 1 (after some relaxation of lockdown) and Angela Merkel is worried. Rather depressing

AllGone · 29/04/2020 10:06

Yes.

Astrabees · 29/04/2020 12:47

It seems to me to be utterly ridiculous that our local police are looking for miscreants who they suspect of camping in the local woods. Camp away, I say, if the world has come to this it is really not worth living in.

Toomboom · 29/04/2020 12:48

Yes

Oliversmumsarmy · 29/04/2020 13:19

But no one knows what exact date this will be over, restrictions are lifted and things return to normal.

You could look at Spanish flu and say if it goes the same way we are looking at December 2022.
Would that date suit

Yes restrictions do need to be lifted for a few more services at some point but I see other places lifting the restrictions when they still don’t have a country free of the disease so of course they are going to get a rise in infections

I can see that to help people and to keep some control there will be social distancing but restrictions lifted for a set amount of time then returning to lock down. So 1 week normal then 2 weeks off type thing for the foreseeable future.

I don’t think this is going to go away any time soon

All we can hope for is either a vaccine or that those that have had it are immune to it or like Spanish flu, after its initial burst on to the scene it starts to lose its power over time as people either died and those that were left were either free of the disease or had immunity to it

rosiepony · 29/04/2020 14:23

No because I’m not an idiot.
I work hard for the NHS everyday. So I’ll go to the shop and go for walks when I want. I won’t be seeing my parents who are isolating but I will sit on my friends drive and have a glass of wine.

And I do think I’m special haha. Seriously, do you guys nreally mean it when you say you’re not special? I think I’m more special than loads of people. I’m aware of my many flaws but yes I think I’m pretty up there in the special stakes. This may be due to having a Mediterranean mother.

feistymumma · 29/04/2020 15:56

Yes

Spiffingly · 29/04/2020 15:57

No.

Cantata · 29/04/2020 16:16

An on-off lockdown would be as much use to me as a chocolate fireguard. My sector has been wiped out completely by lockdown, and will only be revived once lockdown ends, full stop. There are loads of jobs which can't be done half-time/part-time/on an on-off basis.

wlv12 · 29/04/2020 16:34

Yes. NHS frontline staff.

irwellmummy · 29/04/2020 16:35

Yes, I know 3 people who have died so it’s very real for me.

LilacTree1 · 29/04/2020 16:42

Astra “ It seems to me to be utterly ridiculous that our local police are looking for miscreants who they suspect of camping in the local woods. Camp away, I say, if the world has come to this it is really not worth living in.”

Agree. Are the police doing this as “ don’t leave your home”?

Just how deadly would this disease have to be before you would disagree and think staying at home and not (potentially) killing people is a good idea?

RingPiece · 29/04/2020 19:31

Yes

I really do wonder sometimes. The death rate in this country looks set to be the worst in Europe and yet some people don't seem to care. Confused

Definitely one of the oddest posts I’ve ever read on here 🤔
