Just a Yes or No thread there are hundreds on the ins and outs of this.

This morning I read that Matt Hancock is claiming support for an extension is strong amongst the public but that’s not the impression I’m getting from social media

So, will you stick to the rules if lockdown in the UK is extended for another 3 weeks

Yes or No

Yes

Sillysop92 · 28/04/2020 22:31

Yes but I’d not be happy about it. We don’t have to like the guidelines to abide by them.

Yes again. Sorry was going to say I have to shield, so makes no difference to me. I am just hoping that our shielding time is not extended because others cannot complete lockdown.

TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead · 28/04/2020 22:52

I will stick to it but my rebellion is brewing

I hate that we are not trusted, and can’t even have a chat in the park with a friend (at a safe distance) or a walk with a friend (at a safe distance), in Countries like Holland people can still hang out, see their parents etc and the infection rate isn’t worse

I am sick of my civil liberties having gone up in smoke, and I am sick of the state treating us like irresponsible kids who can only understand black or white, yes or no.

I am appalled at people who are seriously unwell not being treated by nhs, as all focus is on corona virus people are not getting the cancer care they need

More People will die of cancer, heart attacks, strokes, through delayed treatment, who counts these deaths?

So many businesses and restaurants are going to go bust. So many people will lose their jobs, their homes.

Yes, people are dying and this is serious and that is why we are sticking to the rules

But the real cost (not just money, but human lives, health, mental health) is going to be huge and I do wonder if the cost is too much....

This virus may be here for years. Are we going to lock ourselves up for years?

My job is going going gone. How can I even think of finding a new one?

I know I will get “killed” on MN for saying the above

But my faith in the government is waning

They have not got a clue, no long term plan

We’ll be in lockdown on and off and the cost will be huge

And it will be shit

Yes. 100%

I can't bear to hear of more dying, bravely, alone, with a plastic gloved hand being their last contact with the world.

If those who can stay in do, surely it will help us all get through this quicker. And help those who need medical treatment for other medical conditions get treated sooner.

If those who can stay in do so that those who have to leave their homes can do so knowing that everyone is doing their bit in helping them and their loved ones to be even a little bit more safe.

raspberrymolakoff · 28/04/2020 22:59

YES!

RapunzelinQuarantine · 28/04/2020 22:59

I don’t really have any choice. My industry is entirely closed so I have no option on going back to work, and I can’t reach any friends or loved ones without taking multiple trains and tubes.

DurhamDurham · 28/04/2020 23:00

Yes to a point, we have already started going out for a second walk on an evening. We literally don't see anyone and it feels better than just sat in front of the tv and helps me sleep better. We haven't broken any of the other rules so don't feel that we're putting ourselves or anyone else in danger.

MrsMozartMkII · 28/04/2020 23:01

Yes.

Won't like it. Will whinge. Will witter. Will continue to miss my daughters. But I'll comply if the people who know far more about this thing than I do say it's what we need to do.

nothingpunny · 28/04/2020 23:10

Yes.

Mittens030869 · 28/04/2020 23:11

@Mascotte

It's an unrealistic goal in the sense that there will be more deaths from COVID-19 and from other causes. But aim is to minimise the number of deaths and the only way we can achieve this is if we stick to the social distancing.

It's for that reason that my DH and I tell our DDs that they can't go to their friends' houses. It's very sad for them and for their friends, and I'm sad on their behalf, but I can understand why it's necessary for the moment.

Mascotte · 28/04/2020 23:13

I just feel it’s pointless to wax lyrical about no death.

MrSheenandMe · 28/04/2020 23:15

Yes

Mittens030869 · 28/04/2020 23:17

She said she didn't want anyone to die, and she started with herself and then her family. It's called wishing, everyone knows what t f at means. And I'm sure we all wish that, whilst knowing that in reality people do die.

I think it's more the case that she doesn't want to be responsible for causing more deaths through her own irresponsible acts.
