A thread for people with CV19 symptoms that have lasted for more than a couple of weeks.

First thread here

(Called 40+ to keep a rough tab on when the first symptoms started being reported on MN).

OP posts:
Orangeblossom78 · 17/04/2020 20:46

Half term ended 14th Feb and we got sick 6 days later around the 20th Feb. So that's around 2 months ago now. Was on one of the original 'lungs' threads and all sounded familiar, the chest pain has passed now thankfully though.

Orangeblossom78 · 17/04/2020 20:50

Thanks Moodgie, I have found Manuka honey sucker sweets quite helpful for the ongoing throat pain found glands in neck swollen seems to come and go and sore red eyes too, I did read conjunctivitis can be part of it, hope it goes soon. Fingers crossed

Moodgie · 17/04/2020 20:53

@Orangeblossom78 I had itchy eyes in the third week.

Orangeblossom78 · 17/04/2020 21:08

I guess all we can do is rest, gentle exercise, and hope it improves with time. It has been strange for me, as I never get chest infections, have never had one before - only colds, so this was the first time for me - the sore throat has been the worst pain though and lucky I suppose it was not worse. Considering have never ever had such a thing in over 40 years would assume it was it.

stayathomegardener · 17/04/2020 21:27

@TheDrsWife46 well said!

@SchrodingersKitty Im glad your DH's op was a success. Sounds like you need to prioritise yourself too.

Day 38 here, definitely improving to give hope to others. Not had a dip since the third and hopefully last one.

I can prepare a meal and am up most of the morning doing little jobs. Wouldn't attempt anything as physical as hoovering or ironing. Resting pretty much all afternoon and evening still.

Sleeping better, appetite much improved, no flu pains or headaches but I'm still very fatigued, hot sweats, have acid burning in my chest which gets much worse if tired, wobbly legs by lunchtime and a weirdly a numb tip of the nose.

Rest is key.

pinkoneblueone · 17/04/2020 21:27

I would like to start a petition it may be late in the day but I think the NHS NEED to update symptoms as many people don't actually realise they have the virus and could just think that they are poorly for a week or so and by then It may be too late as they may have spread it to so many people.

WorriesomeDad · 17/04/2020 21:33

@stayathomegardener nice to hear from you. Crap day for me, hope it’s the third and final dip!

2 months, that really is a long haul @Orangeblossom78! Glad it wasn’t too bad for you, how’s your husband after this length of time?

My DH is kind of Ok now but finds running harder. He is on immune meds. The GP did give antibiotics at the time in case of a secondary chest infection. He hasn't complained of any pain or anything but seems a bit more tired.

stayathomegardener · 17/04/2020 21:45

@pinkoneblueone I would definitely be signing that!

musicposy · 17/04/2020 22:37

Done Smile

It’s really important we raise awareness and really like the bit about how long we should isolate. I am getting a little fed up with well meaning people telling me I’m fine to go out and about now, fine to support vulnerable relatives, fine to go to the supermarket (as if I could!) etc.

Sorry, no. At day 38ish I’m still coughing, ran a temperature only a couple of nights ago, and I’m not going to take even the slightest risk that I pass this awful thing on to somebody else.

pinkoneblueone · 17/04/2020 23:01

Thank you all, please share and get it off the ground, I am aware of the typo in the link. I have a tired brain. day 39/42 I think today and still getting chest pain and mild breathing issues.

TheWooisStrong · 17/04/2020 23:10

I had a glass of wine and an online chat with friends. Great while it lasted but I feel rough now and will no doubt regret this tomorrow.

LetsBeSensible · 17/04/2020 23:11

Done.
Fed up of the silence about long-term symptoms, relapse and “re-infections”
They don’t know (as in, tests have not yet been concluded) if you can get re-infected, or if you have immunity and if so how long.
Personally if I were to go out at day 31, no real symptoms for a week, and caught the flu I feel like it would finish me off.

Porcupineinwaiting · 17/04/2020 23:24

Day 30 here. Have felt a little better every day for 10 days - until today. Please God let this dip be a short one. And the last one. Sad

Wishing you all a peaceful and restful night.

pinkoneblueone · 17/04/2020 23:37

@LetsBeSensible I feel exactly the same. my OH had something awful said to him last night by a member of the ambulance service to put him off going to hospital. I stewed all night about it and had him call the doctors this morning for the doctor to say that he should have gone to hospital. The gist of what he said is, you'll end up on the COVID ward and you could catch the virus and die a horrible death. implying A. he doesn't have the virus and B. scaremongering. We opted to have him call a 111 doctor for advice to which he missed off that my DH has a liver condition and said the doctor said we have COVID. So even he clearly didn't know the symptoms properly or couldn't be bothered.

fuggyfush · 17/04/2020 23:54

@Orangeblossom78

I was taken ill in the 3rd week of feb, in a ski resort in the alps. Ended up in Bourg St Maurice hospital at the time with strep throat and additional inexplicable symptoms (fever, chills, cough, joint and muscle aches, extreme tachycardia, extreme fatigue). Wasn't tested.

Still feeling less than 100% now. Was really rough for a few weeks, but now fine to work and walk, gentle exercise classes etc. Have had constant sore throat, tachycardia, and until last week, nightly low grade fever. Still tire easily. Finally feel I've turned a corner though tachycardia and sore throat remain.

TheLadyAnneNeville · 18/04/2020 00:03

Done.

pinkoneblueone · 18/04/2020 00:08

Thank you! Let’s hope we can make a difference, please share if you can!

OneDayAtATime123 · 18/04/2020 00:21

@fuggyfush
I hope you continue to feel better. What were your tachycardia numbers before when sick and what is it now ?
This is my fourth week, and I tire easily too. Walked 20 minutes and hit a heart rate of 118 .

whiteflat48 · 18/04/2020 00:56

Signed! Thank you

godhelpusall · 18/04/2020 06:58

@pinkoneblueone I am Shockat what the paramedics said! That is awful. As if the need for an ambulance isn't frightening enough.

godhelpusall · 18/04/2020 07:11

Does anyone feel odd on waking? I feel loads better but when I wake I still feel that strange feeling that I associate with the virus. I can't describe it- it feels a bit like anxiety (it may be although I'm not feeling very anxious anymore). I've finally stopped sweating at night fingers crossed 🤞 I suppose I just want to feel that this effing virus has cleared off for good, and I know you all know that fear! So my question is - did / do you have weird anxious type feelings and do you experience it in waking?
