A thread for people with CV19 symptoms that have lasted for more than a couple of weeks.

First thread here

(Called 40+ to keep a rough tab on when the first symptoms started being reported on MN).

OP posts:
Tangledyarn · 17/04/2020 18:10

@egghead68 No you are probably right. I'm quite a but further along (42) i am still breathless but have been told heard it's normal for that to last a number of weeks.
@letsbesensible Yeah the combination of pvf and preexisting CFS is a killer, fortunately I'm very used to having to pace and plan all aspects of my life in order to cope and dealing with the uncertainty of chronic illness and the non answers you get from the medical world. I can just usually do more than 30mins out of bed at a time, but am sure (hope!) I can build back up again...hopefully you will be able to do..its early days for us in the grand scheme of things Flowers

Breathlessness is really bad this afternoon no idea why really, havent done anything to trigger it particularly.

godhelpusall · 17/04/2020 18:14

@TheDrsWife46 what a beautiful post. You speak for me too, I have absolutely relied on all of you. So yes, thank you @TheDrsWife46 for the post. And for your honesty and support for everyone (on the lungs thread too), you have definitely made a difference.

fedupofbed · 17/04/2020 18:15

@TheDrsWife46 thank you for your lovely post, one we can all relate to. There is so much kindness and support on this thread.

Moodgie · 17/04/2020 18:23

@Dorual Ah yes, the antibody bone is unavailable though.

TheDrsWife46 · 17/04/2020 18:26

@Dorual thats a swab test for active infection so if you take it too late then it’ll be negative, so depends how long @Moodgie has been ill. This is why we’re all desperate for accurate antigen/antibody tests which is what @findingschools4myboys took. They are unlicensed in the UK yet, so she took the risk on the first test and her second test was from a german manufacturer, thats the one she booked through a London clinic. I dont think i’d be paying 200.00 for a throat swab, i’d rather pay that for an unlicensed antibody test that tells me more about whether ive mounted an immune response.

Dorual · 17/04/2020 18:32

Yep. But Moodgie was concerned the virus was still active. So if desperate, this test could either show that, or if negative, would suggest symptoms are post-viral. Just a thought.

SchrodingersKitty · 17/04/2020 18:34

Hi All

DH's op went fine and he is feeling much brighter. I think they'll let him out tomorrow, but the usual hospital uncertainty at the moment.

I am pretty concerned that some of my symptoms have returned so late in the day - 38 - (sore throat, brief hour's hot facial flush, slight flu-like feeling, and - now that I remember it - diarrhoea last night). I'm going to make a very simple supper for me and DS and go straight to bed. I explained the situation to my MA students, as I keep having to postpone their live seminars, and they are all being very sympathetic and telling me to just leave them to get on with things for themselves. I may take their advice, at least for a day or so.

I've also found these threads incredibly supportive, having been on since thread number 1. I do wonder what happened to the original OP on that first thread - I very much hope they are recovered.

Moodgie · 17/04/2020 18:41

@Dorual Yes, what @TheDrsWife says is what I’ve been thinking. Thank you @TheDrsWife46

pinkoneblueone · 17/04/2020 18:42

@socialcommentator if only it was in my head. Life would be so much simpler. There are varying strains of this virus we are the moderate group. The ones that on one really talks about like the middle child of viruses. I hope to god you don’t end up like this as I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.

TheDrsWife46 · 17/04/2020 18:42

@Dorual ah i see what you were theorising. No offence meant i promise x

@SchrodingersKitty I think its like lots of us who keep flaring back up again knowing full well we havent been out etc to have been “reinfected”. Glad his op went well and that hospital are all set up for him. Just think how is there, safely and initially one of the concerns was to how to get him to hospital safely for his lymphoma check. Now he’s in there. Please rest you must be physically and emotionally wrecked. X

Moodgie · 17/04/2020 18:48

Yes, thank you @Dorual, I do see the point too.

Egghead68 · 17/04/2020 19:08

@SchrodingersKitty great news about your DH’s op. Sorry about your symptoms - take it easy.

Kitcat122 · 17/04/2020 19:20

@Egghead68. I am 5 weeks tomorrow and still have slight chest pain and breathlessness and I definitely think mine is post viral. My GP said could feel like this for another 4 weeks.

everythingisginandroses · 17/04/2020 19:30

Thanks @Kitcat22 - today is one month from my first symptoms and my chest still feels a bit 'raw', plus tiredness. It's reassuring to get your updates and to know that people are managing to get some sense out of their GPs!

@SchrodingersKitty - I vaguely recall that the OP from the original 'My lungs are on fire' thread (from the Republic of Ireland, I believe) did indeed recover ok and left the thread.

findingschools4myboys · 17/04/2020 19:34

@TheDrsWife46
I saw your previous post about how you felt. Big hugs to you!
I have had a big cry up today as in the/wed I had to keep catching my breath that disappeared yesterday. Then today I have started with the headache and extreme body and internal organ heaviness that I last had over a week ago 🙁🙁 the thing I think is labyrinthitis.
I have to admit I have been doing so much though (it’s expected of me at home with 4 young boys!) so maybe I have overdone it!
But yes I do also think about any possible long term implications or continuous flare ups.
Hoping if this is a flare up they become less and less until they are gone.

TheDrsWife46 · 17/04/2020 19:56

@findingschools4myboys I think because I havent had any significant stretch of wellness yet Im finding it hard to imagine. Someone else posted THE best video about managing post viral fatigue and it really helped me to not panic too much and try to find pleasures where I can. But today after a crappy night I feel sad, no-one else in my circles has caught it and there is an element of “why me? Why us? Why now?” I know they say we’ll all catch it but I feel a bit like a lamb to the slaughter. That the government was going for herd immunity and bam we’ve got it. Then everyone else got to hole up at home and not catch it.

Or thats how it feels.

mumlurker · 17/04/2020 20:06

@SchrodingersKitty

Wishing you and your husband well. You're certainly due some good luck and I hope this is just a tiny blip symptoms wise.

@TheDrsWife46

Any chance you could link to that video? I think I need some reassurance. Thanks!

eyebrowsofinstagram · 17/04/2020 20:16

Oh thanks for update from GP @TheWooisStrong, I get cold sores and at the beginning of this virus I got three big ones taking up almost all of my bottom lip - they absolutely burst out all at once with none of the usual tingling warning. And I've never in my life had more than one at a time.

Bloody virus!!!!!

TheDrsWife46 · 17/04/2020 20:16

I cant take the credit i think it might have been @EMichel102 who found it but its helped me. Today ive spiralled a bit but I found some real key things to focus on from it.

TheDrsWife46 · 17/04/2020 20:16

@mumlurker tagging you so it alerts you x

mumlurker · 17/04/2020 20:18

Oh fantastic, thanks so much!

eyebrowsofinstagram · 17/04/2020 20:31

Thanks for your brilliant post @TheDrsWife46 it completely echoes what I feel. This thread is a great support and really the only source of information for me.

Here's wishing a restful night for you all

Orangeblossom78 · 17/04/2020 20:38

Hi hope you don't mind me posting, just found this thread. Has anyone been ill since skiing at the Feb half term? and still has symptoms...we were all ill the week after half term, DH worse than me (coughing up blood etc and very poorly but recovered slowly still not quite right)

My main things which are still going on are - sore throat, headaches, fatigue and sore / tickle nose along with sneezing. I don't have a cough though although DH did for quite a while.

I have co-codomol for another condition and have been taking some of that which helps but don't want to be taking too much as it can cause bad constipation. Thanks and hope we all feel a bit better soon Flowers

I just wish it was possible to test for antibodies, they wouldn't test us.

Orangeblossom78 · 17/04/2020 20:39

or since around half term I mean, not just after skiing Smile we were in the alps

Moodgie · 17/04/2020 20:46

@orangeblossom78 I started with the sore throat on 5/6 March, I think that’s the second week after half term.
