Yet another fucking night I have been waiting up desperately trying to secure a slot for delivery/click&collect, as I’m pregnant and don’t drive and also running out of fresh food. But no slots available.

I’m sorry, I just wanted to fucking rant. Rant over.

So many unknowns here, OP may not have a partner, she may be a single mother by choice, father might have died, father could be a violent person...I think we should just take her at her word and stop suggesting getting the father involved as she has now made clear she doesnt live with the father.

flapjackfairy · 09/04/2020 06:59

Morrison's food boxes are your best bet. Good fresh food, good value and if you keep checking there is a lot of availability. Really pleased with them.

Alakazam8 · 09/04/2020 07:13

Am shielding my little girl so can’t get to supermarkets & am wheelchair user so always get deliveries. Despite phoning Sainsbury’s twice now to tell them this , including holding for 2 hours last Sunday morning and being told I’d be added to the list by Weds (and trying over 100 times before that) I still can’t get slots. Am now trying other sources as mentioned here. Should be things set up in ops community that would her out. I received a text from my LA asking if I was struggling to get food atm.

Ginnyrellas · 09/04/2020 07:14

I managed to get a delivery slot from Tesco on Tuesday afternoon to be delivered yesterday. It seems that they release additional slots on to their app at around 6:30pm

TryingToBeBold · 09/04/2020 07:39

Is there a facebook page for your local area? A lot of people are doing top up shops for others

skodadoda · 09/04/2020 07:45

OP why doesn’t the child’s father help?

FedupwithCFs · 09/04/2020 07:55

It’s not Tesco’s fault. It’s the fault of those hanging selfishly onto their slots and the fact that everyone and their dog is claiming to be “extremely vulnerable” these days. They are even sending out deliveries this Easter Sunday when they don’t usually deliver.

Anyway, I see you have a delivery for 3 weeks time, can you last til then? I agree with the PP’s who said to try Facebook. Plenty of virtue signallers on the COVID groups who would be happy to photograph themselves delivering to you. (I left mine yesterday as I don’t need help but got quite jaded by all the “look at me aren’t I wonderful” posts)

rookiemere · 09/04/2020 07:55

Yay well done for getting a slot. I am trying to get slots for my parents and find going on every couple of hours is really the only way to do it, but you do get something eventually.

Emmacb82 · 09/04/2020 07:58

Totally understand how you feel, I’m pregnant too and trying to avoid shops too. My only advice is literally to keep checking multiple times a day as they sometimes release slots at all different times. I drove myself insane for a couple of weeks because I couldn’t get anything, and then all of a sudden I managed to get one at 5 in the evening. Have also managed at 3 in the morning too as I have insomnia. Just keep trying, you’ll get one eventually x

PleasantVille · 09/04/2020 08:02

You really should be angry with all the people who don't need online shopping who are still heading then. I'm in a WhatsApp group for my street where neighbours are discussing their slots, none of them are genera ble or shielding.

Amibeingunr · 09/04/2020 08:05

It’s not Tesco’s fault, your thread should have said I fucking hate selfish people who book delivery slots up who don’t need them, I’m sick of them....

Someone very close to me works for Tesco’s and is fed up of the abuse they are receiving, one woman screamed at him the other day as whilst inside the shop another customer didn’t stay 2m away, another example of people taking their anger out on the wrong person, instead of being grateful they are putting themselves in harms way by keeping these shops open!! Makes my blood boil.

If you do get a slot, please be kind to the driver, it’s not their fault you haven’t had a slot quickly....

peachypetite · 09/04/2020 08:06

Order yourself a Morrison box

SheldonSaysSo1 · 09/04/2020 08:06

If you're already a customer try Sainsbury's for click and collect. This is the only supermarket I've managed to get one on but I've been checking randomly about 8 times a day. Its taking a few days before I find one and it tends to be a slot for a few days time.

LuciaLoquette · 09/04/2020 08:06

It's not Tesco's fault , it's the same with most online deliveries.

If you have been trying to conceive for ages, can your baby's father not step up? Where is he?

A lot of us have reasons to want to use online shopping. My husband is in remission from cancer, but it could come back any time, so I want to keep well and keep him well. My mother aged 93 is partly relying on me and my sister to get her food online.

If you are living with 2 very elderly relatives, they should be able to access some support perhaps and you too.

Look around your area for small shops- lots of grocers, butchers and corner shops will offer to deliver if you phone them.

NichyNoo · 09/04/2020 08:07

I’m annoyed with Tesco as they are massively cashing in on the crisis. All of their offers have been removed (to stop stockpiling) but prices seemed to have been raised as well on loads of their other food that I would usually buy. I did a shop the other day that would usually cost around £50 but it cost £87!

LuciaLoquette · 09/04/2020 08:13

@NichyNoo Actually the opposite is true. Online deliveries for Tesco have always been a loss leader as they say in the business. ( I know someone who worked at head office .)

Now that they are being swamped, they are reporting costs this year due to having to employ more drivers, of over £1billion.

It's supply and demand. You might have to pay slightly more for your food by having offers reduced but that's so lots of other people (vulnerable ones) can get a delivery.

Betty1233 · 09/04/2020 08:13

Not Tescos fault.

ahran2k · 09/04/2020 08:16

Read this on the news this morning, might be of interest for some www.chargedretail.co.uk/2020/04/08/morrisons-partners-with-deliveroo-to-offer-70-essential-items-for-delivery-via-its-app/

trinity0097 · 09/04/2020 08:16

Morrison’s food box?

Sexnotgender · 09/04/2020 08:18

Did you know Tesco have recruited an extra 45 THOUSAND staff? What more exactly would you like them to do? I understand you’re frustrated but they and the other supermarkets are doing their best!

Hannah021 · 09/04/2020 08:19

@NichyNoo
they've lost quiet abit on their shares. They dont seem to be doing that well.
Please check both orders and compare.

Hannah021 · 09/04/2020 08:20

Quite**

Lindy2 · 09/04/2020 08:20

As others have said get online and order a Morrisons food box. I got one the other day and have been really impressed. It's straightforward to order and they have done brilliantly increasing their capacity to deliver.

It will at least tide you over for food and take the pressure off whilst you try and sort a bigger shop.

Amibeingunr · 09/04/2020 08:21

@LuciaLoquette fully agree, unfair statement by NichyNoo. Also it is well known Tesco is paying their staff extra 10% on their wage for working during this time, surely no one begrudges the staff that?! My shopping at Tesco was higher this time, but it just showed me how much I take advantage of the offers, I didn’t complain about paying it.

When all this is over, how do you think the government will claw back all the money they have paid out?

Sux2buthen · 09/04/2020 08:25

I'm sure the father of the baby has occurred to th OP. Nosey buggers
