The death rate is definitely reducing - could this be a good sign that things will get back to normal sooner rather than later?

Don't count on it...

Quarantino · 06/04/2020 18:31

Nope.
You can't infer anything from relatively minor changes day to day, even if they reflected actual total daily deaths, which they don't.

SemperIdem · 06/04/2020 18:32

It reduced briefly in Italy before rocketing upwards again

byebyebeautiful · 06/04/2020 18:32

Most likely an issue with how they report the deaths (with it being off the back of a weekend, plus remember they only include hospital deaths unless I'm mistaken?).

It's a nice thought but not time to relax just yet.

Darbs76 · 06/04/2020 18:32

Let’s wait until tomorrow / next day and hope for decrease before we start to get optimistic

Sexnotgender · 06/04/2020 18:33

No, the dip will be the result of the reporting over the weekend.

CoffeeandPainting · 06/04/2020 18:33

No way....

HairyFloppins · 06/04/2020 18:33

No weekend numbers are usually lower.

I expect it to rise again tomorrow. But it would be brilliant if it didn't.

AnyFucker · 06/04/2020 18:33

We had a dip in numbers just after the weekend last week. Let's see how it goes for the rest of the week.

MasakaBuzz · 06/04/2020 18:34

Deaths seem lower after the weekend. I would wait to see what the rest of the week brings. My prediction is about 800 tomorrow.

Lunar567 · 06/04/2020 18:34

My friend who is a GP in London said that they had been told that the peak was expected over Easter.

CoffeeandPainting · 06/04/2020 18:34

The results they give, is not a complete number. No where near

All those people was out last weekend ...
Were be seeing huge amounts of people dying in about 2/3 weeks time.

Were see more than 1000 a day....

Marmite27 · 06/04/2020 18:35

It usually dips on a Monday, don’t forget the figures reported today were for yesterday which is a Sunday.

CoffeeandPainting · 06/04/2020 18:36

We are no where close to this being over

Why?

Because dicks are still going out treating it like a holiday

Makeitgoaway · 06/04/2020 18:36

It's too early to tell but it must be good news that fewer people have died than expected in the last couple of days.

You'd never know it though, the lockdown police and those pushing for a harder lockdown seem ever so slightly disappointed that it might be working.

PuzzledObserver · 06/04/2020 18:37

We’ll be at 1,000 daily deaths by mid-week, and probably 2,000 by Easter, which will be not quite 3 weeks after lockdown.

Remember deaths will be the last number to come down - death can be anything from 3 weeks after infection, usually between 4-6 weeks.

Autumnwindinthewillows · 06/04/2020 18:37

Is there a site anywhere with the figures or a graph? I forget all the numbers over weeks just see the short term trend

OP posts:
Delatron · 06/04/2020 18:38

No! This always happens every weekend. It will start to rise again on Tuesday and continue for the rest of the week, then flatten again for the weekend and Monday. It’s a pattern due to reporting over the weekend I think.

We’re at least a week/10’days maybe a few weeks in some areas away from the peak.

NoWordForFluffy · 06/04/2020 18:38

It's unlikely to be fewer people dying, sadly. More like fewer people being reported as having died. Weekends always have skewed figures.

Tonyaster · 06/04/2020 18:38

Worldmeter.com

30not13 · 06/04/2020 18:39

Surely anyone who is following the numbers will also have read that these numbers are NOT indicative due to reporting of deaths over weekends. It clearly says.

And also numerous people have spoken on news in the last week saying the peak is nowhere near.

If you're going to only half follow the news dont ask stupid bloody questions on here.

MorrisZapp · 06/04/2020 18:39

I hardly think that people going to the park and maintaining distance will cause cases to rocket. Three weeks ago the London tube was jam packed, primark was open and supermarkets were full of panic shoppers.

Tonyaster · 06/04/2020 18:40

MorrisZapp I agree

Greysparkles · 06/04/2020 18:46

@MorrisZapp

Take your logic elsewhere 😂

ErrolTheDragon · 06/04/2020 18:46

Is there a site anywhere with the figures or a graph?
This does, though the graph seems to be a few days out of date.
