I'd say almost irrespective of your politics or whether you think he's a raging twatbag, most people could see this is not good.

The last thing the country needs right now is any sort of change of leadership - either due to incapacity or worse. It's a bloody enormous distraction at a time when there is no capacity to cope with it.

KeysDontBelongInTheFridge · 05/04/2020 22:44

He’s staying overnight - that’s more than a routine admission.

I really hope he gets better soon, but if he is a lot iller than he’s been claiming why lie about it? It would be far more productive to just tell the truth. My distrust for him would just increase if he’s lied, as he could have actually used his own experience of covid for the greater good. Instead he’s let his ego get in the way of being honest, and his worry about being seen to be weak. He’s human, and he’s missed a chance to show his vulnerability as a human and that vulnerability could have helped out a lot of people going through this right now.

I obviously wish him a speedy recovery, as I wouldn’t want anyone to go through what he’s going through.

onlyconnect · 05/04/2020 22:44

My guess is he's worse than they're saying. "Tests": I doubt it. He wouldn't be going to hospital unless he really needed to.

kingofkings · 05/04/2020 22:45

Doctors can do initial tests in 10 DS - clearly they were abnormal or he appeared more clinically unwell and you have to go to hospital for ongoing testing and monitoring.

No idea why they say on SN that it's not an emergency admission - it is.

KeysDontBelongInTheFridge · 05/04/2020 22:45

Transparency seems to always be missing with him

kingofkings · 05/04/2020 22:46

Read my post from before those are the tests he will have.

emmcan · 05/04/2020 22:46

Ach, schade...

NotEverythingIsBlackandwhite · 05/04/2020 22:47

I really like Boris Johnson. I pray he will be okay and will fully recover from this awful illness. I also pray his fiance and unborn child will be fine too. We need his positivity in the face of such an unprecedented challenge.

CalmerViolet · 05/04/2020 22:47

I wonder if he’s fone NHS or Bupa

All the private beds have been passed to the NHS, haven’t they?

I thought that in general you were better off in a NHS hospital than private if you were seriously or acutely ill precisely because private hospitals are geared up for elective non emergency surgery and do not have ICUs.

EightNineTen · 05/04/2020 22:48

I agree about Sunday evening admissions, routine is the last thing they are. Routine is waiting till Monday morning.

MyFavouritePlace · 05/04/2020 22:48

Hope he recovers soon.
There's no need for nastiness, it's unbecoming.

Barkingfuckingdogs · 05/04/2020 22:48

London - I've had it, with fairly serious (on paper) symptoms but apart from a couple of days, I was able to function on a day to day basis. I did start to feel better and then had a sudden relapse, which was scary but I came through it quickly. Try not to stress too much. It's not horrendous for everyone.

Rocketmam · 05/04/2020 22:48

They might downplay it to stop people panicking? They could be trying to break the news that he is very unwell in stages so the public handle it better.

Hopefully they aren't but I can see why they would.

lyralalala · 05/04/2020 22:49

I wonder if he’s fone NHS or Bupa

They said he was in NHS care,

Not only are the NHS generally better equipped for emergency care, but going private now would be career suicide for him

BovvyDazz · 05/04/2020 22:49

So he’s in the 20% who have coronavirus; who get admitted to hospital, and likely need some oxygen support.
Out of that group; only one in four will require a ventilator; and of that group one or two may not make it.
So chances are he has got it rotten; but he’ll be getting the best care, no expense spared, and isn’t in the highest risk category, so very strong chance he’ll be okay.

I’m in the same group as most on here; I don’t like the guy and don’t agree with his morals, but wish him a speedy recovery.

LavenderQuartz · 05/04/2020 22:49

first Nightingale patient do you think?

EmMac7 · 05/04/2020 22:50

I’m no Tory but this has made me tremendously sad.

What a nasty virus this is. Even with the very best of care one can deteriorate and require hospital.

EightNineTen · 05/04/2020 22:50

I don't think they're lying so much as downplaying.

SuckingDieselFella · 05/04/2020 22:50

@KeysDontBelongInTheFridge

"Transparency seems to always be missing with him"

It's pretty nasty to insult someone in his position.

HairyFloppins · 05/04/2020 22:50

Hope Boris gets well soon. This is such a bloody nasty virus.

IronNeonClasp · 05/04/2020 22:50

Well said @Carrotcakeforbreakfast

kingofkings · 05/04/2020 22:51

NHS so expense is same fir everyone.

Rubyroost · 05/04/2020 22:51

@Randomschoolworker19 no its not 90 % dead. Is that an idea if a joke. Its 50% of those in critical care, obviously not everyone in hospital will be cared for in intensive care. Think if you are put on a ventilator you have 50% chance. It's nit dissimilar in other countries.

bobstersmum · 05/04/2020 22:51

Get well soon Boris! Fingers crossed he will be OK.

CalmerViolet · 05/04/2020 22:51

I bloody hope he is not taking up a NHS bed unless he really needs it!!

The man is an idiot. An obnoxious idiot. I hope he is found to be stable and recovers. But I hope his plight really educates people: He was not social distancing or observing advice. People need to know that it matters.
