Ooh yeah just found it.
I'm really conflicted about this. While I wouldn't wish this Illness on anyone, to see him boasting about shaking hands, not maintaining social distancing, and the absolute pigs ear he made of washing his hands I can't say I'm surprised. And then there is his and his advisors herd immunity thing and general lackadaisical approach and wanton abandonment of WHO advice and instructions (trying to say it doesn't apply to special case us!).... Well there I'm conflicted.

WhyNotMe40 · 05/04/2020 21:23

Having said that I hope he makes a speedy and full recovery. And I'm sure he will have the best of care.

Unlike those in care homes for example

WhyNotMe40 · 05/04/2020 21:24

Not that I'm saying you and others like you are not doing a good job of course Murray. Just referring to care in hospital when needed.....

WhoWants2Know · 05/04/2020 21:25

Is anyone else using this symptom tracker to help identify concentrations of symptoms in the community? The more people use it, the better picture researchers will have of how many people in the community may be affected.

The media seem to be picking up on it now. But I guess with the best will in the world they can't magic up tests. Just wish they'd stop lying about it.

SistemaAddict · 05/04/2020 21:29

He's at the stage of the illness where people become more ill and present with pneumonia if I remember correctly from what I've read. I have no sympathy for him but I feel sorry for Carrie. He's out so many at risk. He should have acted much, much sooner. He was so blasé about shaking hands of patients in hospitals Angry

MarshaBradyo · 05/04/2020 21:30

Oh gosh I feel for Boris Johnson blinking heck hope he’s ok soon

MarshaBradyo · 05/04/2020 21:31

Not emergency decision says news on radio - but precautionary

mrshoho · 05/04/2020 21:36

I'm not surprised about Boris. He continued working and giving video updates when he should have been resting in bed. I hope he can fight this illness now and recover.

Legoandloldolls · 05/04/2020 21:38

Is there any news on prof Witty?

Mittens030869 · 05/04/2020 21:40

I've had pretty bad COVID-19 symptoms, and they were very unpleasant. I don't honestly like the man, but I wouldn't wish that on anyone, so I wish him well and hope he recovers well.

Coquohvan · 05/04/2020 21:44

@Bercows
Really no sympathy for someone who’s ill. Says more about you......

RedToothBrush · 05/04/2020 21:51

Today's covid story of the day isn't about Boris Johnson. Its this.

Natasha Daly @natashaldaly
BREAKING: A tiger at the Bronx Zoo has tested positive for Covid-19. 6 other tigers and lions at the zoo are also showing symptoms. Believed to have been infected by an asymptomatic zoo worker. All doing well. To my knowledge, this is the first animal to test positive in the U.S.

ConfusedDotty · 05/04/2020 21:52

@Bercows. No sympathy. Wow, really? Maybe you should ask to have that post removed.

MarshaBradyo · 05/04/2020 21:54

A tiger!

A tiger can get a test (I jest)

But that is intense what next.. what are the ramifications of animals getting it 😳

SistemaAddict · 05/04/2020 22:03

No, I don't have any sympathy for a person who happily declared he'd shaken the hands of COVID-19 patients on a hospital visit. A person who has failed to take control of the situation at an earlier stage when other countries and the WHO were begging him to do so. He has been very slow to act and follow advice from the WHO and now he finds himself in the same situation as thousands of others who might not have got ill if he had acted sooner and followed WHO advice. He will get the best healthcare that money can buy whilst others will die at home because they are not considered ill enough to warrant admission. I don't wish him harm, but I cannot find anything sympathy for someone who was willing to have our loved ones as collateral damage.

DarnedSocks · 05/04/2020 22:07

The UK prime minister doesn't act alone in any major policy. Boris made some bad decisions, putting himself at risk as a result, but he's not solely responsible. We're not North Korea. He also only very recently inherited an underfunded NHS. A large part of the blame for insufficient PPE and other problems lies with Hunt, May, Cameron, Osborne, and Blair and Brown too. I hope he's ok and recovers well.

I hope it's not true about the tiger and lions. Didn't they panic kill pets in China?

Coquohvan · 05/04/2020 22:11

@Bercows

👎

istherelifeafter40 · 05/04/2020 22:25

Of course the Prime Minister should lead, has power and is responsible for what has been happening in the UK. And with Bercows I have no sympathy for a person who didn't shake a finger to plan and govern to provide PPE for medical staff. Who refused to participate in ventilator procurement programme with the EU.

Yes, he is a human, and I wish him recovery. But as he is the most senior political figure with an atrocious record, I don't extend sympathies for him. These are for medical staff without PPE getting infected.

istherelifeafter40 · 05/04/2020 22:29

And I hope he survives and faces a public enquiry.

ConfusedDotty · 05/04/2020 22:33

Tigers aside.

Boris is being treated in a NHS hospital. Boris is not a medical expert, he is a politician, he acts on advice from senior medical experts, he knows as much as you or me do. The advice/knowledge changes day to day.

How any human can say say they have no sympathy for a fellow human being suffering from a serious potentially fatal virus is beyond me.

For what it's worth I have followed these threads from very outset, right back from the whole 'yeah go to Disneyland it's just bad flu' opinion. I have never really felt the need to post until now, I have gleaned so much information from these threads and I thank most of you for that.

Is the life of a politician/PM worth any less than any other?

istherelifeafter40 · 05/04/2020 22:38

I've posted here before, along with many others, about how angry Johnson's management of the epidemic made me feel. To say that there is nothing political in his response, including his initial response (of herd immunity) and further multiple doing-nothings is beyond naive. He is also a representative of a certain wing of the Conservatives that made the NHS into what it is now. Why everyone is expected to get teary now ? Of course it's best that he recovers quickly but what is this weird emotional appeal the news of his condition is supposed to generate?

SomeLady · 05/04/2020 22:46

Better Johnson than the thousands of children used as collateral damage

Mary1935 · 05/04/2020 22:47

Confused dotty - but the life of a politician is worth more than an older person in a care home, or people who aren’t taken to hospital soon enough and then die. I’m sure me or you wouldn’t go in “as a precaution”
I hope he recovers and he is able to learn a huge lesson about this.

Wehttam · 05/04/2020 22:52

I thought Matt Hancock looked very nervous when he gave his presser early this afternoon, did anyone else pick up on that? I think it may be linked to BoJo situation. I hope, for the sake of his children, his unborn child, his fiancée and the country he makes a good recovery from this.

It feels off though, I can’t put my finger on it, but something is off.
