Hi all
Love this thread so will join you if that's ok.
Haven't left the house for three weeks as DH and I both vulnerable (not shielded). Luckily we get on really well, been married for 32 years.
Feel ok most of the time but trouble sleeping and still feel that this can't be happening. It's great to read so many lovely posts and positivity.
No longer reading most threads on MN Just cannot believe how nasty people can be.

Bunnyflop · 05/04/2020 08:20

@Millie2013 ooh could we have a pic of your ponies?

Henry snoozes most of the daytime too. He had an epic binky sesh last night which involved big jumps and throwing his toys with his teeth! I’ll pass on the nose rub 🙂

Welcome @30daysoflight

Spudlet · 05/04/2020 08:21

Morning all. It’s a beautiful morning here. There were three muntjac grazing on the field opposite when I looked out of the bedroom window, but not much sign of anything else getting up early (other than DS, who arrives at our bedside precisely half a millisecond after his Groclock says he can get up).

Having a steady start and getting ready for my final run of this week’s challenge. It has been quite tough, but it’s also given me something else to think about and I’m grateful for that!

Fist bump for @Bunnyflop - good on you, girl. Hope you’re feeling ok!

Bunnyflop · 05/04/2020 08:26

Anyone fancy posting a photo of something today? I love seeing everyone’s pics of their food, pets, gardens etc!

Spudlet · 05/04/2020 08:34

These are some cookies I baked yesterday - raspberry and white chocolate. Think they could have done with a minute less in the oven, but they’re not bad!

Welcome, we are similar to you. DH has had heart problems so he literally isn't going out at all. I am just for supermarket. Married for same length of time as you, and luckily we aren't on top of each other so we're rubbing along OK.
Miss my DCs very much, I'm a bit worried about one who lives on her own in London and has literally seen nobody for ages. (apart from going to a supermarket week before last). Thank god for internet and video calls.
Later today we are doing a zoom family quiz written by another of my DCs - should be fun. My siblings, some of their children, all together online in about 8 different locations.

Roussette · 05/04/2020 08:54

p.s. I want one of those cookies. NOW !

Bunnyflop · 05/04/2020 09:47

@spudlet thank you, I’m ok so far. Well done on the running front! 🏃‍♂️ it’s really good to have something of a project right now isn’t it? I’m doing over the garden with new plants, doing grass seed etc. I’m obsessed with it which is a good distraction. I bet running gets a lot of stress out! PS gimme one of those cookies...

@rousette the family quiz sounds awesome 😎

gingerbreadslice · 05/04/2020 10:35

@riotlady Thank you I actually have all those ingredients in the house! I might make it today I loveeee brownies.

ExpletiveDelighted · 05/04/2020 10:38

Morning, I haven't posted for a few days.

Spudlet - we don't get muntjac here but used to see them all the time when I lived in Bucks, they are so beautiful.

Posting a picture - there is a bluebell wood very near here and they are just starting to emerge.

I can't remember who just said on this thread about becoming more creative in the kitchen?? We've been doing that to making new things all the time it's been really nice and for the first time ever I've been cooking family meals. My other two kids are fussy so we've always done their dinner first and then made one for us later in the evening. Now we are actually finding things we all want to eat together. And the baking we've baked loads and it's been good fun.
We made gingerbread men this weekend and a sponge with icing that we used to have in school for pudding it was really nice Grin

peachsquish · 05/04/2020 11:22

Chocolate cakes to keep us going in my house.

Blerg · 05/04/2020 11:23

Am I ok to share a wobble? I had a lie in today (DH and I take turns at weekends). I really didn’t want to get up today. Every day just feels the same - taking turns to work, dealing with the kids who are frustrated. We have a tiny garden. I feel bad moaning as we are all well and have work but it’s just all on top of me today.

Time to drink coffee and put some music on maybe.

Whatsmyname26 · 05/04/2020 11:27

To those struggling with home Ed please don’t worry. This isn’t home education it’s crisis education. We are seasoned home educators and we have scaled back all our learning. The children need time to process all of what is going on around them and they need to feel safe and connected with us as parents and not stressed by us forcing learning upon them. Some children will thrive on structure and routine and others will need time to process and do their own thing atm and there isn’t a right or wrong. Mental health is the most important.

Am glad I’ve joined this thread and hoping it will help perk me up. I have depression and chronic health issues so was struggling before all of this. I hit bad depression when my son went agoraphobic for a few months a couple of years ago and we were stuck home constantly so I’m finding the lockdown quite triggering. We also lost a family member a couple of weeks before it all kicked off too so have rolled from life on hold because of their terminal illness to life on hold because of corona so it’s been pretty tough year. I’m not really sure how to pull myself out of the despair I feel atm but talking to people helps

Knobblybobbly · 05/04/2020 11:47

I’m joining because I need to maintain a more PMA during lockdown. My mental health is on a knife edge as it is anyway! Loving the positivity and ideas.

The hardest thing for me is entertaining a 5 year old and encouraging her to play independently. Otherwise I actually quite like the idea of isolation!!

Knobblybobbly · 05/04/2020 11:51

@Blerg I can identify with this feeling. I‘m often feeling paralysed with a sense of apathy and ‘what’s the point’. Getting through it with small goals and jobs. Even if they seem mundane, I always feel better ticking those things off a list.

Today I’m making a cottage pie.

Roussette · 05/04/2020 12:05

We're going to have a barbecue but it's a bit chilly out there, think the forecasters got it a bit wrong where we are! I've made chicken kebabs, with a harissa marinade and onions and peppers.

(Hasten to add, big garden and nowhere near neighbours so no one will be affected by it)

Knobbly I am exactly the same with the apathy. Good days and bad days. I was going to do some weeding in the garden with the sun on my back, but the sun isn't out and I can't be arsed. Need a list to motivate me.

Bunnyflop · 05/04/2020 12:06

@gingerbreadslice and @peachsquish my god you are making my mouth water with all this baking deliciousness! All I’ve got is ferrero rocher so I’ll have to chuck one of those in my gob instead.

To all those having a wobble or more than a wobble: I’m so sorry and have a hug from me .

Current bunny status is photographed above.

@Roussette so jealous of your delicious bbq kebabs and big garden!

Pic of my anemones enjoying the sun. I’m standing on our front stoop enjoying the fresh breeze and the warmth.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 05/04/2020 12:51

bunnyflop, well done you! I hope that coming off them goes easily for you.

The sun is shining here but it isn't warm exactly.

My daughter is managing three children under the age of six at home, and I told her (truthfully) that her grandmother, my mother, didn't have to go to school until she was six. Daughter was stunned: "But Granny knew so much of everything!" Me: "Yes, she learned when she wasn't at school, because nobody was making her do it."

Children are interested in everything, and not going to school when they are five and six really doesn't hurt them. The Finns have the best academic results in the world, and they don't start school until they are seven! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Education_in_Finland

moolady1977 · 05/04/2020 13:01

Today I'm feeling pretty upbeat ,we have new neighbours moving in and it's been crash bang saw and drill well today we had a letter through the door from our neighbours saying sorry for the noise and when this is over they look forward to getting to know us better ,they have 3 little girls so this is something to look forward to

Roussette · 05/04/2020 13:19

bunnyflop I know we're lucky with that, I have never appreciated it more than now.
Do feel for my DCs in flats in London and elsewhere. So tricky for them, although one has a flat roof that she can sit on if she climbs out a window!

Beachybum · 05/04/2020 13:23

Thanks for the warm welcome. Feeling a bit rubbish about being in work today, just want to go home! But it helps that I'm working with a lovely lady who is just as scared as i am so we are calming each other down a bit.
Loving all the baking stories, it's making me so hungry. Think I'm going to have a long hot shower when I get home and bake some brownies. I'll try not to let anyone eat the entire tray as soon as they're done, although tbh I'm probably the biggest culprit! The thought of warm brownies will get me through the rest of my shift
