Whatsmyname26 what a lovely pet to have! and how attractive, too.

gingerbreadslice · 05/04/2020 22:13

Having a huge wobble tonight I've been sneezing all week, had itchy ears, nose and throat now I have a sore throat and I'm petrified it's that dreaded thing. I am 99% sure it's just a cold and Hayfever but my anxiety has kicked right in and now I've frightened myself. 😩 I was that anxious and stressed out I started a row with my partner over how we're having the potato's ffs.
I have said sorry but I have overwhelmed myself and worked myself up so bad.

gingerbreadslice · 05/04/2020 22:15

@Whatsmyname26 Wow she is cute Grin are the hairs really spiky and sharp?

tobee · 05/04/2020 23:50

Oh Spudlet well done. Particularly (selfishly?) happy here as my amazing dd,who was diagnosed a couple of years ago, has had many dealings with the National Autistic Society!

Aw gingerbreadslice hope you manage to relax and sleep after all tonight. Every little symptom takes on new significance, doesn't it? I was out in my little garden earlier just after the grass was mown and I've been sniffly and sneezing a bit and o don't really get hay fever but I think it's no coincidence that I was outside! Smile

Whatsmyname26 · 05/04/2020 23:50

No she’s really soft. If she’s grumpy she makes her spines spikey but when she’s happy they are all relaxed and you can stroke and cuddle her spike free. She also sometimes likes belly rubs and to put herself upside down. I have guineapigs too but I have a huge soft spot for my little hedgepig

gingerbreadslice · 06/04/2020 00:46

@tobee It really does doesn't it! I ended up having a candle lit bath with a bag of chocolates and listened to the headspace app I've got. I feel so refreshed and relaxed again Smile

tobee · 06/04/2020 00:50

Brilliant thinking gingerbreadslice!

The first part of Whatsmyname26's post could have been talking about me! GrinGrin

Bunnyflop · 06/04/2020 07:32

@gingerbreadslice itchy ears are classic hay fever symptoms. You can use a little bit of hydrocortisone on that, the dr gave me some. Your bath sounds AWESOME. Chocolates and headspace! 👍

@Whatsmyname26 I’m in love with your hedgehog 🦔. How much are they and how much looking after do they require? Where does it live in your house?

Henry is obsessed with ripping the fucking wallpaper off at the bottom of the stairs. It’s a right state now! Bastard! We give him enough other stuff to chew on.

I’m now officially cocodamol free- I’ve gone 24 hours with none and am fine. Such a relief, I’ve been trying to get rid of them for about two years but every time I tried it was awful. I’m sure the chemist thought I was an addict every time I bought a packet, even though I explained I was weaning off the prescribed highest dose. And now it’s all over. Yay!

Spudlet · 06/04/2020 07:42

@gingerbreadslice I felt similar and wasn’t getting concerned... then I started taking my hay fever tablets. Instant recovery! The tree pollen count is pretty high, I believe.

StrangerDays · 06/04/2020 07:48

@gingerbreadslice that absolutely sounds like hayfever, I've been suffering exactly the same all week! The tree pollen count is super high. Have you got anti histamines?

As soon as I started my anti histamines, I felt lots better.

whenwillthemadnessend · 06/04/2020 08:07

My hay fever was terrible yesterday. Sneezing weezy. I had to take my inhaler 3/4 times throughout the day.

I'm taking anti histamine first thing today.

Spudlet · 06/04/2020 08:16

@Bunnyflop That’s great about your cocodamol, hope you continue to feel good!

DS has just said ‘Hello Queen!’ while I was watching her speech on my phone. I think he may have thought she was on FaceTime Grin

He then told me he missed preschool and ‘the boys’ Sad Bless him, I’m so proud of how he’s doing with all these changes. He’s desperate to go to a toy shop and get some of the Lego advertised in the back of the instructions to one of his sets. Once this is done, we may even take a special trip to the Lego store.

Bunnyflop · 06/04/2020 08:21

@spudlet I bet he will love that! Smile

Ps thank you.

M0reGinPlease · 06/04/2020 08:24

Well done @Bunnyflop that's fabulous news.

M0reGinPlease · 06/04/2020 08:25

Sorry, I'm referring to the cocodamol and not the wallpaper!!!

Noooblerooble · 06/04/2020 09:18

Bunnyflop that is such a massive achievement. You should be so proud tackling that right now.

I am having a bit of a fearful day. I think that's going to be an issue for a lot of the next few weeks on and off. I am trying to turn my focus back to my own bubble and my own work. It's all any of us can do isn't it? To read the news is to feel a bit like the world is ending but the vast majority of people are not going to die. In fact very very few will at a population level. That is what I am going to keep coming back to. It made me think of what WW2 must have felt like. For a lot of people it was actually very mundane and boring. Life might have changed drastically for many but equally there was a lot of getting on with normality and people being v far removed from the worst of the war. Even my great grandfather who was overseas supposedly fighting largely spent 3 years sitting around doing nothing, waiting to be deployed somewhere useful. At least we don't have 6 years of this ahead of us!

Noooblerooble · 06/04/2020 09:42

European nations most ravaged by the new coronavirus have reported encouraging signs in their fight against the deadly pandemic, as the United States braced for what may be its “hardest” week.

Italyreported 525 cases in one day – its lowest daily toll in two weeks and a possible indication the tide may be turning in the deadliest disaster the country has faced since the second world war.

Francereported its lowest daily toll in a week and in Spain officials said fatality numbers had fallen for the third straight day, with --- deaths

This is in the Guardian today. I took the last number out in case people want to avoid numbers. The tide is turning in Europe. We will be following them in a few weeks. Flowers

StCharlotte · 06/04/2020 10:49

That's very encouraging Noooblerooble. It does feel like we might be going in the right direction at last.

On a personal level, we re-seeded what we laughingly call the lawn yesterday as there was rain forecast for today. Sure enough the gentlest of April showers started about half an hour ago. Very satisfying. Helpful Kittens who've only just started going outside are actually being quite helpful in scaring off the pigeons.

Arcadia · 06/04/2020 10:56

Thanks @Noooblerooble that article is helpful.
I'm the same fine when focussed on my 'bubble' but flashes of panic, a bit like walking along a beautiful cliff path but then looking down ...sometimes I feel too contented and then feel worried that I'm complacent and should be bracing myself but that won't help ...
I am starting to sleep better which is a positive but weird scary dreams.

Arcadia · 06/04/2020 10:57

I'm a bit worried about Boris now. Never though I'd say that as a staunch anti-Tory!

Whatsmyname26 · 06/04/2020 11:11

Hedgehogs cost about £150-160 and need a vivarium as they like to be kept warm. She is the easiest pet I’ve owned with regards to looking after/cleaning out etc but she really appreciates a lot of time out of the vivarium and basically cuddles on me for hours every evening. She eats bugs which might put people off (I buy online and freeze them so I don’t have to cope with them bouncing around).

What’s everyone planning on doing today to keep them sane? I’m hoping to tidy a little and to ply some board games with the kids

Knobblybobbly · 06/04/2020 11:15

It looks like the weather is going to be beautiful over the next few days. I’m going to throw open all the windows, open the back doors and get a load of fresh air running through the house.

Trying to shake off the ‘can’t be arsed’ to do anything feeling by making a list of regular jobs to do each day of the week. Monday is kitchen day. Going to deep clean and organise all the cupboards and fridge. If my daughter will let me....she’s a bit clingy. But maybe she will get involved if I can make it sound exciting enough!!

Really wanting to get into some crafts too.... my daughter is crafting like billy-o but I’m struggling to sit still for long enough to achieve anything. Maybe something Easter related using clay?

Millie2013 · 06/04/2020 13:38

I’m struggling to settle to crafting too, @Knobblybobbly
And struggling to achieve anything practical too, I need to take your lead and be a bit stricter with myself

I ventured out to the fruit shop and little coop, as neighbours needed some bits. Managed to get a huge sack of potatoes to share and some carrots for the ponies

DD made some lovely bread, so we’re having that for lunch, with cheese

I had a session (phone) with my clinical
Supervisor this morning and she gave my head a much needed wobble. Have jotted down some of her words of wisdom (she knows me so well) to keep reading and re reading...

DianneWhatcock · 06/04/2020 13:46

Wow, just had a look on the "worried about corona" thread

Thought that might be a nice thread, and reassuring. NOPE. Should be called the scaremongering drama queen thread from what I have seen, I soon came off it

Hope everyone is doing ok today, I am having a better day than I did on Saturday. I have some positive news - 3 people I know who have almost certainly had corona (2 were quite bad) are almost fully recovered

gingerbreadslice · 06/04/2020 14:00

I've taken some piriton that's all I could find in the cupboard I do feel a little better I think it's my anxiety making me panic. I still have a runny nose and sore throat is now an itchy throat it's like a tickle in the back?
I really love this thread I feel it keeps me sane 😭
