Holiday booked for September

Ok please don’t flame me for sounding selfish but it’s my OHs 60th in September. We have booked an Airbnb for a month in Spain. It’s been planned for a long time so that family and friends. can come out and stay for a few days/ week, whatever they can . We were so excited about it with us both retiring in the near future. What’s the chances do you think of us still being able to go?

I would personally put the chances of less than 50%.

We've got Thailand and Malaysia booked for August, 100% certain that won't go ahead, it's just when we do cancellations.

We had a family holiday booked for sept, it was the first time I’ve been away in 10 years and the kids first holiday. So pissed off it will be cancelling I’m pretty certain on that

I think there will be a lot of restrictions on foreign travel over the next couple of years. If you live in a country where Covid is still active t is unlikely countries will allow you in whiteout strict quarantining.
No point in going to Spain to be locked in a hotel room for 14days.
Health passports may return. I vaguely recollect the old blue passports having a page for vaccination stamps, I may be wrong. When/if they introduce vaccines you may need to have antibody test and booster every time you travel.
No country will risk their economy again for sunseekers.
I think China will have the biggest problems.

We have a UK holiday booked for August and I don't think we will be going.

We've got one booked for July. Only reason we haven't cancelled is so they cancel and refund us.

It's ok to be sad. Doesn't mean you don't care about people dying etc.

Brothers rearranged wedding in October... was meant to be in 3 weeks. Fingers crossed for October!

Our holiday is booked for the last week of July, first week of August. A dream holiday to the Caribbean. We have to pay the balance in 3 weeks. We'll have to pay it and wait for the holiday company to cancel. I don't think we will be going due to ongoing travel restrictions.

We have booked to go to Kefalonia for a week in July.

Paid 10% deposit and the rest to be paid beginning of June.

Pretty sure that won't be happening now so probably need to cancel but haven't got round to it yet.

Italy in September...not going to happen is it?

I really can’t see any travel abroad happening this year especially to Spain and Italy.

Posters on here are saying they are waiting for the companies to cancel!

If I've paid deposit, will I get that back if I cancel?

We have a booking for Spain in late October. It's self catering and remote but we are very doubtful, just waiting to see what happens but not expecting to be able to go.

Strangely, I’m more optimistic. I’m booked for Spain in mid-Aug and my gut feeling is that I’ll be there.

However, who knows right now.

I'm supposed to be going to Cornwall in September (one week already booked, one postponed from May) and I'm resigned to having to argue with sodding Sykes to get my money back.

We had a UK holiday booked for May half-term, we've just moved it to May 2021.
I'd say September holidays would be 50% chance of happening.

Normally if you cancel you lose anything non-refundable, if the company cancels normally you get refunded but depends on terms and conditions and what you've bought. Insurance generally only pays out if FCO advice is don't travel at the time you are due to go - ours is 48 hours in advance. We're expecting to lose about £2.5k, be £4k if airline goes under.

You will be able to take your UK holidays. Why not? There is a massive income from tourism. If we cannot accept foreigners then we have to allow, even encourage home tourism. It's the same NHS and these current restrictions are in order to slow the spread, not stop it. The economy, even up to it's neck in hock, cannot sustain NO income from tax and tourism tax is a biggie. So, whatever about your Spanish or American holiday, your UK one will be possible and necessary.
