Today I've ordered some seeds and a new headset from amazon.

Anyone else?

I'm toying with a load of sand and weed membrane so that DH and DSS can use this time to learn practical skills and lay a patio .... but I'm not sure if it's too decadent to be ordering such bulky, unnecessary items at the moment....

Dontsayyouloveme · 30/03/2020 05:13

OMG Really? is some of this for real.

Grow up people!

🙄🙄🙄🙄

Sadiesnakes · 30/03/2020 05:36

Fuck the workers - as long as they get their bottle of artisan gin or Easter Tree decorations! I ain't complaining. The overtime money will come in handy.*

Sounds like you are though? Which is it then?

OddBoots · 30/03/2020 06:42

@JingleCatJingle I am got it from here I hope you can get this or something like it too.

TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead · 30/03/2020 07:49

I was under the impression we should only buy essentials, food, medicine etc?

Is it different for online shopping?

If I order 4 pairs of trousers and 2 don’t fit, surely my trek to the post office with my return parcel isn’t exactly”essential”?

Am therefore not buying anything online, and made DH stop his e-baying too

JustStayAtHome · 30/03/2020 09:03

@ViveLEntenteCordiale

But compost involves both pickers and deliverers to both lift it together at less than one,let alone two, metres apart only.....you are putting these people at unnecessary risk for your non essential compost

TheGreatWave · 30/03/2020 09:28

How big do you think this bag of compost is?

vodkaredbullgirl · 30/03/2020 09:35

Just had 48 cans of pepsi max delivered today from Amazon. Running out of meat, so trying to see if i can order some online.

JustStayAtHome · 30/03/2020 09:38

@TheGreatWave the most popular, best value are 125 litre, why?

JustStayAtHome · 30/03/2020 09:40

Next size down can be hard to lift too

Depends on capability of picker/driver/drivers mate. Not a lot of staff left in some places.

TheGreatWave · 30/03/2020 09:56

You have no idea how big a bag she wants or where she is going to get it from.

Our small garden centre is doing home deliveries for example.

I also need some pet stuff, the local pet shop will take your order over the phone and then hand it to you at the door.

Limited contact and supporting local business.

JustStayAtHome · 30/03/2020 09:57

Neither do you though!

Greysparkles · 30/03/2020 10:00

No where on the government website does it say I cannot order "non essentials" online?
Why do people insist on making up rules and acting like their real?
Today I might order some presents for DD.... Because I can

EricaNernie · 30/03/2020 10:01

a cheese toasty maker, the one i got for christmas broke somehow

TheGreatWave · 30/03/2020 10:08

No I don't, but as the poster hasn't said either way there is no need to presume that she is doing something that will involve a two man lift and criticise her for it.

Natsku · 30/03/2020 10:23

Oh we also ordered a boiler to replace our one that has started leaking. Could have got it fixed instead but that would involve having a plumber come in the home which would be more risky than a delivery driver just dropping it outside the house.

MutatedCat · 30/03/2020 10:25

I will not be ordering anything that has to be delivered. Never know if the virus is on it or not. Not worth the risk.

ThanksForAllTheFish · 30/03/2020 10:32

Absolutely nothing. We are not sure how long it will take for our wages to be sorted and have no spare cash at the moment. Both DH and I work for small companies, they can’t afford to pay us until the government help comes through to cover 80% of our wages. We are looking at a couple of months with zero income and our (very small) savings pot will need to be used up to cover the rent and our bills. We have some left over for food essentials but nothing spare to buy any non essential items.

DD could really be doing with some new pjs. She’s grown and they are all looking a bit small. She will have to make do until we get paid again. Fortunately I had bought her some next size up tops, leggings and shoes a few weeks ago (sales on and I know she usually has a growth spurt and goes up a shoe size around Easter time).

CrowleysBentley · 30/03/2020 10:44

A pack of ten DS styluses, the cat keeps stealing DD's.

A set of 2.5mm knitting needles, I thought I'd see if I can knit a lacework shawl. Also some more 3mm double pointed needles for sock knitting, I think bastard cat has also stolen one of those and I'm halfway through a pair of socks.

Cat toys, to entertain and hopefully stop said bastard cat stealing everyone's stuff.

ViveLEntenteCordiale · 30/03/2020 11:53

@JustStayAtHome usually we get 40 litres, one in the spring and one later in the growing season when I'm moving things to bigger pots. DH can lift that on his own and he's just a short not especially fit bloke. Right now I just want to repot a few things where the compost has had it and try to start off some seeds in pots, as there won't be any plug plants on sale this year. I don't have a mansion with kitchen garden, rose garden and a walled garden. I have never seen a 125 litre bag 😱

ViveLEntenteCordiale · 30/03/2020 12:00

Also I am in France, if my user name is not a clue, and no garden centres are open. Ones that sell pet food are open for pet food only and all the garden stuff is roped off. Some hyper markets may sell compost but I've heard a lot have none left. I'm certainly not going to drive around them all looking. It's pretty hard to find online too, so you may be chastising me for something I can't do, even though I would like to.

catscatscatseverywhere · 30/03/2020 12:07

I guess amazon is not delivering non essential items? I ordered some razors and toothbrush replacements and they are due to be delivered on 29th of April. I really wanted to avoid visiting boots. I will probably buy some temporary solutions at asda.

cantdothisnow1 · 30/03/2020 12:29

I have ordered a nespresso machine and coffee, a paddling pool for when the weather is better for the kids, stationery, legos both kids are likely to have birthdays in lockdown, and I've ordered food from online independents, oh and a crochet kit for me to get me off the net.

I do think that stopping non-essential items is one of the next steps that the government will take.
