Christ. God rest their souls.

wintertravel1980 · 28/03/2020 14:15

It’s more than doubled since the previous day.

No. The number of deaths yesterday was 181. Today is 260 (43.6% up).

Helenj1977 · 28/03/2020 14:19

So so sad 😢

CharlieTangoBanana · 28/03/2020 14:27

@woodencoffeetable There is little benefit in wearing a cotton mask as it will not prevent the virus passing through if someone were to say cough near you, however masks are excellent at protecting those around you if you cough or sneeze obviously in ideal circumstances you would change it immediately.

What masks are excellent for is preventing you touching your own face, mouth and nose when you are out, add some dark glasses and the outfit is complete.

MurrayTheMonk · 28/03/2020 14:39

But that's good if it's not doubled isn't it? It is it? I'm so confused about 'the peak' and what will constitute the peak etc etc..

Delatron · 28/03/2020 14:51

The thinking is that is was circulating in Italy, unchecked for quite a while before the official first case.

justchecking1 · 28/03/2020 14:52

Murray, it is doubling, it just isn't doubling daily. It's still exponential growth

justchecking1 · 28/03/2020 14:54

Here's our logarithmic graphs showing exponential growth

those numbers Shock
and that with not testing a lot, really. poor people.

thanks charlie that's what I have read as well. it's not just about me but what I can do to slow the spread. still undecided if I will make some or not...

it's another weekend with fine weather - how is the situation in country parks today? I hardly saw anyone on my walk today, only people queueing at restaurants for a take away.

JemimaPuddleCat · 28/03/2020 14:57

Why are we still having so few people 'recovering'? Does anyone know what the testing is for seeing if someone has recovered from covid in the UK?

Sunshinesky1981 · 28/03/2020 14:58

Those figures are awful Sad

pocketem · 28/03/2020 14:59

Reminder that on 12th March, in their infamous herd immunity press conference, BoJo, Whitty and Valance all confidently claimed we were four weeks behind Italy so that it was far too soon to be putting in any social distancing measures.

m.youtube.com/watch?t=38m1s&v=yEM7IZQEg4A

On 12th March Italy had 15,113 cases and 1,016 deaths.

Today, just 16 days later, we have overtaken them with 17,089 cases and 1019 deaths.

Gambling with our lives and losing the bet.

When anybody who had half a brain or could read knew that we were more like 2 weeks behind. I didn't understand why they said that at the time and still don't.

Delatron · 28/03/2020 15:09

That’s very sobering @pocketem

I’m so cross that Cheltenham and those football/rugby matches were allowed to happen and we didn’t enforce stricter measures sooner.

SistemaAddict · 28/03/2020 15:11

I posted in good faith on a thread about grandparents dying and it's been deleted due to doubts about the OP. Disgusting behaviour to be trolling at time like this Angry

Freshairimportanttoo · 28/03/2020 15:14

Because of the bloody model

Namechangervaver · 28/03/2020 15:22

I’m so cross that Cheltenham and those football/rugby matches were allowed to happen and we didn’t enforce stricter measures sooner.

Yeah, particularly the Liverpool /Atletico Madrid match that was allowed to take place Shock

Here's that famous video of Klopp destroying a journalist who asked about the coronavirus. Klopp clearly knew it was madness that thousands of Madrid fans were allowed to fly into Anfield.

Jrobhatch29 · 28/03/2020 15:23

A national statement said: “Patients were aged between 33 and 100 years old and all but 13 patients, aged between 63 and 99 years old, had underlying health conditions.

What does this statement mean? The people under 63 didnt have health conditions?

Delatron · 28/03/2020 15:23

The Liverpool/Madrid one was crazy. Madrid was a particular hotspot at the time. Utter madness.

pocketem · 28/03/2020 15:24

And the hundred year old also had no underlying conditions??

BrokenBrit · 28/03/2020 15:33

What time is the briefing today do we know?

CrunchyCarrot · 28/03/2020 15:34

Woke up from a nap to hear those new UK figures - yikes!

Updated the chart.

The only people to die who didn’t have underlying health problems were aged over 63
They all had uhp
But 13 people 63 to 100 did not have underlying health problems
