A 16 year old girl has died in France. No underlying health problems.
She was tested in one hospital on Monday and while they waited for results she had to be taken to a new hospital. There she tested negative twice, even while in the icu, and the hcps stopped wearing ppe while they treated her. Tuesday night the first hospital got their test result back and it was positive.

What is going on with the tests?

AutumnRose1 · 27/03/2020 10:37

AutumnRose1 · 27/03/2020 10:47

Thanks Juney, I’ll see if it’s on Catch up but I doubt it.

Great news Horehound

MarshaBradyo · 27/03/2020 10:56

Yeh Horehound great news, my sister is home too and in isolation.

abitoflight · 27/03/2020 11:00

I think the 16 yo girl case in France shows that just presuming all tests are equally good is not the case

BeyondMymymymyCorona · 27/03/2020 11:05

That reminds me again of my question re false negatives - if someone comes back negative, at what point do you retest?

BeyondMymymymyCorona · 27/03/2020 11:06

(If at any point. Obviously this was more important when we were contact tracing)

Horehound · 27/03/2020 11:12

That's great too @MarshaBradyo

Re. Food I have food. Usually my husband makes most of the meals but recently I have been making more effort and I have booked meals the last few nights. All things we haven't had it things I have never made before. Making sure to use up left overs if stuff and being extra thrifty.
Night one was a chicken and broccoli shortcrust pie
Night two was mushroom, tomato, egg, garlic, Broccoli tarts with potato and sweet potato mash and some veg
Last night was sausages with an onion and mashroom gravy, the rest of the sweet potato and potato mash with veg.

Honestly never cooked like this in ages and seen so little waste, actually zero waste really.
I bought a lot of frozen veg and it's been really good quality and tasty!

Really interesting article on the deaths in Italy not being counted at present:

www.corriere.it/politica/20_marzo_26/the-real-death-toll-for-covid-19-is-at-least-4-times-the-official-numbers-b5af0edc-6eeb-11ea-925b-a0c3cdbe1130.shtml

There’s been a lot of talk about how many uncounted asymptomatic/mild cases distort the threat posed by Covid-19. I confess I’ve bought into that myself recently. But reading that article, it seems that the truth death rate may well turn out to be 1%, or 600,000 in Italy, once this is all done.

Yamayo · 27/03/2020 11:25

Also on Guardian online.

Yamayo · 27/03/2020 11:26

He would have spread it everywhere!

AvocadoOwl · 27/03/2020 11:26

I thought Boris sounded a bit breathless during Wednesdays press conference!

MarshaBradyo · 27/03/2020 11:26

Woh!

ajandjjmum · 27/03/2020 11:27

I'm not surprised - he has been mixing with people endlessly, but it's certainly rotten news. Hopefully it will be a mild dose. Hope Carrie's ok.

MarshaBradyo · 27/03/2020 11:30

Is he the first PM? / Pres

Petiolaris · 27/03/2020 11:32

I’ve had a lot of people ask me about growing veg and they’ve been disappointed when I’ve said they’re looking at three months or more to actually produce food. They think they can plant seeds and have something to eat in a few weeks. That’s unrealistic for most things except maybe lettuce.

Horehound · 27/03/2020 11:33

Didn't expect that...

WhoWants2Know · 27/03/2020 11:33

Didn't Trudeau have it too? Or was it just his wife?

Yamayo · 27/03/2020 11:41

Don't think they ever confirmed Trudeau had it- he was self-isolating as a precaution.

Did they all catch it at the Commonwealth thing?

SistemaAddict · 27/03/2020 11:45

Aww, poor wee bozo. Should have washed his hands more Grin
