Just wondering.

DP works in construction. His site hasn't been shut down. He brought home a bug that we suspect to be Coronavirus. They're expecting him back next week Sad

TheSandman · 26/03/2020 12:08

When he arrives home, I ensure the washing machine is empty and washing his work stuff daily.

Me too. My wife is NHS worker so the washing machine door is open powder in drawer, and a change change of clothes ready next to machine.
By the time she's out of the bathroom - our washing machine is in the bathroom where all washing machines should be - there's a mug of coffee waiting and I get to listen to her venting for half an hour about what a shit day she's had and how the world is full of morons... and then we get back to normal.

Iwalkinmyclothing · 26/03/2020 12:08

DH (cabinet maker) was furloughed yesterday.

I'm still working, I'm a safeguarding social worker based in a MH hospital.

mindutopia · 26/03/2020 12:09

Yes, dh, but he works in an artist field and has a workshop all alone pretty much in the middle of a field and sees no one in the course of a day. He's self employed, so we need him to make as much money as possible. I am wfh (academic), but I'm on leave at the moment anyway.

NekoShiro · 26/03/2020 12:11

Not me but my friends partner works in a call centre for tech support and he's still going into work everyday, his boss claims they are essential and cannot work from home.

changedmyname2019 · 26/03/2020 12:12

I work in recruitment and I'm still going every day. Even though it could be done from home.

runwithme · 26/03/2020 12:14

I'm emergeny services support staff and DH is a police officer. Work as normal for us with lots of social distancing measures in place. Employers are being very flexible but they all should be really.

Rowgtfc72 · 26/03/2020 12:16

Dh and me work in food production, opposite shifts.
Cant really keep 2m between people in a factory.

Knowhowufeel2 · 26/03/2020 12:19

@FatimaLovesBread, I take it your husband is also self isolating or has moved out, done his 2 week isolation and is living elsewhere whilst working if you have this virus?

Soontobe60 · 26/03/2020 12:19

DH is in, works for a company that makes laundry bags and body bags for hospitals, also make filters for the pharmaceutical industry. He's very very busy!

Aposterhasnoname · 26/03/2020 12:20

Yes me, work in compliance for a food production company. Actually working longer hours now to keep everything up and running. I’m not remotely worried for myself, but I am for others so do everything I can to keep to social distancing rules. To be fair my company have gone to great lengths to enable that, mainly because it’s me that makes the rules Grin.

Having to call into supermarket a couple of times a week as well as I’m shopping not just for us, but for my parents, and my daughter who’s shielding now due health conditions. I’m not allowed to buy the amount I need for each household in one trip, although I’m trying. I can’t get to the shops till about seven pm. Which on one hand is good as they’re deserted, but on the other means I can’t get what we need, and have to go back. We didn’t stock up as we’re not selfish gits, but then buying only what you need means you need it again in a few days. Then of course I have to do the rounds to deliver it (put on doorstep, retreat to bottom of garden and phone them).

Really looking forward to the weekend so I can have me a piece of this lockdown. Feel sorry for those that can’t get out and hate though.

Saladd0dger · 26/03/2020 12:21

DH is a haulage driver and I’m a supermarket worker. He has a letter to say he’s a key worker. Should I have 1 from my employer? I don’t drive so walk to and from work

pintsizeprincess · 26/03/2020 12:21

Yes Dh works in water hygiene and still has to go and take samples. I work for a supermarket so would have been going in but am off for 12 weeks due to underlying condition.

BeyondMyWits · 26/03/2020 12:23

pharmacy - but luckily only a few minutes walk from home.

Needtobepositive · 26/03/2020 12:24

Yes. Husband is non essential worker but works completely alone. Just me and the kids staying in.

marble11 · 26/03/2020 12:27

I work for a Local Authority I am working from home. My Mum is still going to work daily. She is a manager for a Crown/Magistrates court so is a key worker.

bluechameleon · 26/03/2020 12:28

We are halfway through 14 days self-isolation but after that DH will have to go back to work in a supermarket. He usually works in the office but they've all been redeployed to the stores. I'm really anxious about it.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 26/03/2020 12:28

I'm the only one who ISN'T working at the moment! I'm divorced but DS's dad is a train driver. My mum works for the NHS, stepdad is military. Even in my wider family everyone is still working - I've an aunt who is a teaching assistant, a cousin who manages a supermarket, etc.

Mrsjayy · 26/03/2020 12:28

Dc1 emergency services and sister is a carer.

WatchingFromTheWings · 26/03/2020 12:29

Me. Work in food retail.

YDYtrue · 26/03/2020 12:31

Delivery driver. Busier than ever delivering from ASOS and the like. I wish non essential was extended to online retailers too as it means he is handling more parcels and having contact with more people than he absolutely needs to. It’s hard to draw the line though isn’t it? I myself ordered paper and folders to try to get some form of order to the dc’s schoolwork- we needed the paper but could have done without the folders it was just doing my head in having bits of paper everywhere! I also ordered my mum a bottle of gin for Mother’s Day, pretty sure that’s not actually an essential Blush

Amber2019 · 26/03/2020 12:33

Delivers vehicles all over the uk, I hate it.

FatimaLovesBread · 26/03/2020 12:34

Yes @Knowhowufeel2 I'm am on day 18 currently, no longer contagious just now suffering from further complications. DH self isolated for 14 days and went back to work on Monday after being symptomless for the duration
