Delay in today's numbers

TheReelSlimShady · 25/03/2020 20:00

Unless I'm being really stupid, it doesn't look like the numbers have been updated for today, it still says 24th March

www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-information-for-the-public

Not seen any reasons as to why they are delayed?

Bbc news saying 115 for the Uk, so that’s 102 for England, with yesterday’s 28, that makes it 130, which makes it 65 per day. So still a decrease and a slight slope down as Jenny Harris intimated at the conference.

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 26/03/2020 18:16

Correct @Bluntness100 PHE has updated too. Yesterday's numbers were artificially low so it's not quite as bad as it looks - thankfully

RainbowPenguins · 26/03/2020 18:17

I'm afraid BBC did not explain the change in reporting. 130 is only from 9am on 24th, so a 32 hour period not a 48hr period so dividing by 2 is not accurate.

Dept of Health explain on the Twitter thread link above.

RainbowPenguins · 26/03/2020 18:23

Sorry, 130 in England is from 9am 24th to 5pm 25th.

Screen shot of twitter thread attached.

Yes, clearest way to think of it is 130 deaths in England over 32 hours.

LuluJakey1 · 26/03/2020 18:27

RainbowPenguins So the 115 today is for the 24 hours from 7.30am yesterday morning until 7.30am this morning for the UK?

Didkdt · 26/03/2020 18:28

I'm so glad it's been explained on here I just saw the headline figure flash up and lost a heartbeat
Thanks for the explanations

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 26/03/2020 18:28

So that would equate to approx 97 deaths in 24 hours

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 26/03/2020 18:29

Deaths are 5pm - 5pm now.

AlrightThen · 26/03/2020 18:32

Figures released today are from:

5pm 24th March - 5pm 25th March

Bluntness100 · 26/03/2020 18:32

Blimey this is being over worked some what.

Look they said take the total over forty eight hours.

So 130 over forty eight hours is an average of 65 per day.

Why are people trying to twist it so it looks worse. What rhe hell is wrong with some people?

Pishposhpashy · 26/03/2020 18:33

What's our trajectory looking like now with those new figures? Same as Italy?

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 26/03/2020 18:34

How is 9am on one day to 5pm on the next a 48 hour period?

ShellsAndSunrises · 26/03/2020 18:35

I’m with you, @Bluntness100.

defthand · 26/03/2020 18:35

It’s not 48 hours, it’s 32. The DHSC have made that clear. I appreciate their transparency.

Bluntness100 · 26/03/2020 18:38

So that would equate to approx 97 deaths in 24 hours

Yes, and it would make 33 in the previous 24 hours. What’s your point? It’s still an average of 65 per day over two days, and it’s still a down ward trajectory as Jenny Harris intimated when she said we were starting to see the actions bite in the numbers.

Bluntness100 · 26/03/2020 18:39

Same as Italy

Yes, it’s the same as Italy, we are fucked. Hmm

Nekoness · 26/03/2020 18:40

“As of 5pm on 25 March, of those hospitalised in the UK, 578 have sadly died.”

So 578 is yesterday’s number. We will not know today’s numbers until tomorrow.

“Department of Health and Social Care
(@DHSCgovuk)
Going forwards, figures on deaths will be recorded for the 24 hour period as of 5pm the previous day.

Figures on tests remain as of the 24 hour period from 9am that day.”

So all the people who questioned yesterday’s numbers - I hope you feel vindicated when a lot of the bullies on here accused you of wanting the numbers to be higher and all sort of morbid shite.

loobyloo1234 · 26/03/2020 18:44

So all the people who questioned yesterday’s numbers - I hope you feel vindicated when a lot of the bullies on here accused you of wanting the numbers to be higher and all sort of morbid shite

I questioned it. Seems some of us were right to question it. There was a logical explanation of course but I knew people would have false hope if it was not correct (which they did)

RainbowPenguins · 26/03/2020 18:45

I can't believe the poor level of maths on here.

Department of health have made it clear that yesterday's number - 463 - was at 5pm
24th March. Today's number - 578 - was at 5pm 25th March. That's 115 deaths in a 24 hour period. Nothing further needs to be done to that number.

Bluntness100 · 26/03/2020 18:47

What’s the point in the whole I’m vindicated because they are higher thing? It’s even worse than wanting them to be higher, to be posting you’re feeling vindicated they are.😱

The numbers are still a down ward trajectory and it’s the trend that matters, no one cares about an individual day, what we are looking at is the trend, is it spiking, up, flat lining or trending down. And it’s the latter based on the last two days.

RainbowPenguins · 26/03/2020 18:47

*Blimey this is being over worked some what.

Why are you ignoring the information that Department of Health are providing? If it makes you feel better then believe what you want but your posts are inaccurate.

Bluntness100 · 26/03/2020 18:48

That's 115 deaths in a 24 hour period. Nothing further needs to be done to that number.

Which then leaves 15 in the previous 24 hours. The average is still the same.

What’s the point you’re making? Is it about the 15 or the 115?

Bluntness100 · 26/03/2020 18:49

If it makes you feel better then believe what you want but your posts are inaccurate

How? Genuinely how? Please tell me the total for the 48 hours and the average for the two days if mine is not correct.

RainbowPenguins · 26/03/2020 18:50

It's not the previous 24hrs bluntness. The numbers yesterday were from a 9 hour period. Department of Health have explained this.
