Do you think there will be riots?

I’m quite surprised there haven’t been any yet! Do you think people will just snap eventually of being stuck inside and rebel against the lockdown?

If it goes on too long, or doesn't seem to be working then yes. There will be riots, and probably looting as alot of people will have fuck all money

Northernsoullover · 25/03/2020 18:07

I don't think so. I hope not anyway. I think 95% of the country are shitting themselves so that leaves the other 5% that may cause issues.
I made these figures up obviously but I think the majority are doing what we need to do.

LouisaJenny · 25/03/2020 18:08

I don’t think so, no.

I think (hope) most of the UK understand whats going on and why.

Biscusting · 25/03/2020 18:08

I don’t think so, but the number of guns being purchased in the USA is alarming

Grasspigeons · 25/03/2020 18:08

I dont know about riots but a general increase in crime. So many empty shops. Already seen pictures of smashed cars from joyriders

leckford · 25/03/2020 18:09

USA already has something like 3 per person, mad I know but that is what they do

Oakmaiden · 25/03/2020 18:10

Wouldn't think so.

Not until the summer, anyway.

FourTeaFallOut · 25/03/2020 18:12

No, I don't think so.

Mintjulia · 25/03/2020 18:14

No, too cold. The weather is the best policeman.

If we are still in this state in July, people will be very tired and stressed to the max - maybe.

Laniakea · 25/03/2020 18:25

unless there's evidence it works - if it goes on too long - if people lose too much ... then why not?

BanKittenHeels · 25/03/2020 18:27

Yes and this is what I’ve always prepped for.

Laiste · 25/03/2020 18:27

As long as there's food, then no.

BanKittenHeels · 25/03/2020 18:28

I should add that I don’t think it will be yet but I think we will see an upward swing in anti-social behaviour in the next three weeks. As is on display in my area.

SugarSugarShimmy · 25/03/2020 18:29

What would people be rioting for? No.

Janaih · 25/03/2020 18:33

I think we are getting dangerously close to it. The criminals are continuing as normal, average Joe's are starting to get irritable and anxious, police are overstretched. I read drug prices are up because of supply worries and increased demand.

I suspect this is what the armed forces are being prepped for.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/03/2020 18:43

Yes there will be .

Usually not a week goes by without a stabbing or a shooting in London.

Gang related .Drugs . Terrorism.
Where are they? Tucked up at home ?
No. The drugs will still be sold and bought as long as there is demand .
There will still be gangs , fighting and County Lines .
And there will be more incidents like London Bridge .

There will be another Police shooting and there will be riots .

It'll boil over Sad

CallmeAngelina · 25/03/2020 18:48

They are on standby in North London for civil unrest. (Friend in emergency services).

Chiyo666 · 25/03/2020 18:49

People in my area are having their car windows smashed in. I’m just wondering if those will then go into shop windows etc.

OP posts:
Pishposhpashy · 25/03/2020 18:50

Oh fgs not this again.

AnotherMurkyDay · 25/03/2020 18:50

As long as their is a steady supply of food, booze and the internet keeps running we should be all right if this doesn't go on too long and seems to be working. Otherwise it's a recipe for Molotov cocktails if I ever saw one

AnotherMurkyDay · 25/03/2020 18:51

All bets are off if Universal credit crashes though

Iggly · 25/03/2020 18:52

I suspect there will be an increase in low level crime as well as increased domestic violence sadly.

I’m more bothered by that

Pishposhpashy · 25/03/2020 18:52

70isaLimitNotaTarget

And your evidence for all the above is what exactly? Just blatant scaremongering.

SneezyMcSneezeface · 25/03/2020 18:56

Sorry, what would we actually be rioting about? 400k people have just volunteered to help...
low-level crime will drop - we're all at home all the time - going to be hard to rob a house.
DV will prob rise unfortunately, but 'rioting'? Not unless we run out of food entirely.

SneezyMcSneezeface · 25/03/2020 18:58

I'm in the UK tho, I wouldn't be surprised if there's trouble in the USA where 40% don't have proper medical care and every other fucker has a gun.
We panic bought loo rolls, in the US people panic bought guns. Thank Christ we don't have guns here as a norm.
