What do people think about buying things online? I don’t want couriers forced to work but I don’t know if they/the economy might welcome it.
We have acquaintances who we are pretty friendly with who run a small business locally. They only took it over in November. They have been forced to close.
However they have offered home delivery as a way to keep the business afloat and to keep a roof over their heads.
They are self employed so as yet have no idea how they are going to keep going since the government hasn't offered support.
By the look of social media lots of locals are trying to help by placing an order.
They own the business and they are doing all the deliveries themselves. Strictly do not answer the door.
My feeling is it largely depends on the situation and the environment someone is working in.
But there is a reality here that people need food on table and there are people falling through cracks of government support who arent getting anything.
The reality then is these people will turn to food banks - and a community who are mixing to provide, supply and distribute that food aid.
So you aren't winning either way if you boycott all online suppliers and there are a greater number struggling financially as a result of that.
Rock meet hard place.
