A “friend” who runs a beauty products MLM is exploiting the NHS to sell hand cream. She posted that the nurses are washing their hands a lot so if anyone wants to donate hand cream they can pay her and she’ll deliver them to the hospital. Of course she’s pocketing commission on every single one and she’s even using the NHS logo to make it look official. Disgusting.

Alwayscheerful · 25/03/2020 22:40

I have just noticed uk serious critical had jumped from 20 yesterday to 163 today.

KinderWild · 25/03/2020 22:52

Its up on the DoHSC website now:

As of 9am on 25 March 2020, a total of 97,019 people have been tested, of which 87,490 were confirmed negative and 9,529 were confirmed positive. 463 patients in the UK who tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) have died.

Horehound · 25/03/2020 23:00

So it is 1452

Horehound · 25/03/2020 23:01

@CrunchyCarrot @DadDadDad will you update your charts?

SistemaAddict · 25/03/2020 23:04

They took their time. Glad the official ones are out now and the confused and confusing posts might stop. I'm like this 🤪trying to make sense of them all.

DadDadDad · 25/03/2020 23:13

@Horehound - I'll update my spreadsheet, so anything I share in the future agrees these figures.

AutumnRose1 · 25/03/2020 23:21

Petiolaris

You can report her to the CMA as per PM comments today

Angryrant55 · 25/03/2020 23:31

Yesterday death figures were to 1pm so the 28 were the 1pm - midnight deaths yesterday.
Tommrow will be back in the 70-100 range for england alone.

confusedandtired99 · 25/03/2020 23:39

On another thread someone has posted this:

KeysDontBelongInTheFridge

“A new process for collecting number of recovered patients is in development: the figure shown is for 22/03/2020. The deaths count is for 24/03/2020 as the figure for 25/03/2020 is delayed”

That’s from their official website. It seems PHE still haven’t release the official updated figure.

www.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/ae5dda8f86814ae99dde905d2a9070ae

So in that case doesn’t that mean today’s results aren’t actually valid?

confusedandtired99 · 25/03/2020 23:41

Not valid - I meant accurate. Please excuse my sleepy mind

Random18 · 26/03/2020 00:18

I know the government have only been encouraging social distancing for around a week and the lockdown for 48 hours but obviously we have been watching Italy from a far.

I think many people with underlying health conditions have protected themselves where they can fot a reasonable period of time now.

Could that have any impact on the number of dead (I would love to think yes)?

I am really really just hoping that this is not a one off although sadly no expect a much higher figure tomorrow.

And also how many community cases do we reckon we could have. I know they say about 10 times more but still that's a low figure.

I've seen quite a few who suspect they have/had it and some pretty close to home. This is not just in one area but a couple of areas.

Fartintheloft · 26/03/2020 00:28

From DHSC on Twitter:

*As of 9am on 25 March, a total of 97,019 have been tested:

87,490 negative.
9,529 positive.

463 patients who tested positive for coronavirus have sadly died. Please note these figures do not cover a full 24 hour period.*

So it looks like today’s figures are from 1pm yesterday to 9am today 🙁

Random18 · 26/03/2020 00:39

So figures on the 24th were for 28 hours and 25th for 20 hours?

I do expect them to go up tomorrow (sadly) but I really hope that it's not too big a jump!

Bluntness do you know the antiviral they are trialling?

Number12 · 26/03/2020 02:41

Is anyone else awake and fretting or is it just me?

littledrummergirl · 26/03/2020 02:56

Nope, I'm still awake. Just catching up as I had the evening away from coronavirus. Now I've caught up I should hopefully sleep.
Today's briefing was a total waste of time, no new information just fudging around the edges.

Number12 · 26/03/2020 03:11

Hey littledrummergirl, Yes it was, I agree! I think my stress levels are through the roof and im worrying about every little thing. This virus is really playing on my anxiety!! Im going to be useless tomorrow.

3am and the paper was just posted through the door, great time to avoid people! I did log straight onto ocado though Grin, still no slots!

MurrayTheMonk · 26/03/2020 04:54

I'm up. Stressing about work and can't sleep at all Sad

groovejet · 26/03/2020 04:59

I am up, worrying about my Mum. The lock down in South Africa starts tonight, she sounds in good spirits but not sure how serious her and my relative are taking things.

Did check Ocado but no slots, worth a shot considering I am up early.

CrunchyCarrot · 26/03/2020 05:57

@Horehound Yes, I'll be updating the chart daily - will need to extend it.

@DadDadDad - ahhh! So it was you who originally posted! Thanks, I will add in the missing days. Smile

CrunchyCarrot · 26/03/2020 05:59

Sorry to hear some of you aren't sleeping. It is difficult, getting off to sleep is the worst time for me, sometimes I'm too restless and end up getting up again. I was quite tired last night as I'd been pretty busy all day yesterday.

Relatives are a worry, aren't they? DP"s mum lives alone but she's healthy, thankfully. However she is prone to going out and about so I really hope the chats we've had have made her think several times before going.

Bluntness100 · 26/03/2020 07:04

Random, I think it’s chloroquine, but they are also doing others,

That’s the one though when at trumps conference, he announced trials, and the female, I’m unsure of her role, said it’s us and the Uk trialing this one, so BritS might be interested. The Uk then said we are doing our first human trial, but didn’t name the drug.

It does seem though all countries are trialling anti virals, different ones, to treat at different stages, and then sharing the info globally.

Looks like the USA numbers haven’t halved, but they have flat lined.

In addition the professor from imperial college who is responsible for advising the government has said, in their view, if we keep this lock down up, the nhs will not be breached in their view, some areas will be stretched to capacity, but over all it won’t be breached and the death toll could be much lower than the 20k. In their view this could be over by Easter. The peak could be in the next few days. He has not said it in light of yesterday’s numbers, he said it well before they were announced, and he still didn’t think we had hit the peak.

However, as the who said, and I think this is critical, no country wants a resurgence. They don’t want to release their people and then go back into lock down with the same or an even worse problem.

So countries need to work out how to very slowly release restrictions whilst watching what occurs.

It’s also likely by Easter, we will be much further on in our testing ability, potentially even testing for antibodies, and clearly the world medical and scientific community will have much more knowledge on anti virals and their success by that time.

Overall this is very fast moving, very fast, and it’s very hard to predict what will occur.

ClashCityRocker · 26/03/2020 07:15

Thank you for that well reasoned post bluntness.

Horehound · 26/03/2020 07:17

Try not to worry @groovejet but I know easier said than done. Is she usually quite a resilient person? It's good she's in good spirits :)

ofwarren · 26/03/2020 07:21

Not much sleep here either. Started with symptoms yesterday. Mainly a cough but it feels like my lungs are burning.
Worst of all, I only left the house once in 25 days to go to a dentist about my failed root canal.
I wore a mask there and only took mine off once in the dentist chair and she was wearing a mask.
I couldn't have tried any harder but it still looks like I have it!
