  • I was just reading an article from america that says the nursing home in Washington state noticed that sufferers had red eyelids and underneath the eye. Do we think that is an actual symptom?•

Mine started with a sore eye, it was running and slightly itchy, I spoke to the chemist and got some optrex eyewash, that was a few days before feeling fluey.

I only found out that was a possible symptom yesterday.

defthand · 25/03/2020 14:56

+135 cases in Scotland today, I think. Similar number to Wales.

TheGlaikitRambler · 25/03/2020 14:56

135 case increase for Scotland, plus 6 more deaths.

“A 36-year-old woman died at her flat in south London of suspected Covid-19 a day after calling 999 and being told to look after herself at home.

Kayla Williams, a mother of three, died on Saturday 21 March, a day after paramedics were called to her home in Peckham.

Her husband, Fabian Williams, a refuse collector, said his wife was suffering from a cough, high fever and had severe chest and stomach pains when he called 999 on Friday.”

This what I’ve worried about happening for a while now. Cases can turn severe fast. Moderate cases (moderate, not mild) need medical supervision. Or access to prompt care, at least.

Angryrant55 · 25/03/2020 15:10

And cases like that are why the supporters of a usa style health system are ready to get profit making ramped up british healthcare.

MarshaBradyo · 25/03/2020 15:15

Deft 🙈

Elephantgrey · 25/03/2020 15:15

My son had the redness under the eyes. We both had red cheeks. I did wonder if that was a symptom.

That poor lady who died in her flat. Her husband is vulnerable too as a diabetic and presumably her children are there too. This was my fear , that non priory people will die when they could have been saved.

mrshoho · 25/03/2020 15:17

@defthand That is just terrible. The poor husband says they've just left him and said he needs to isolate. He's type 1 diabetic and they have 3 children. Sad

Angryrant55 · 25/03/2020 15:18

This is also why if people think the uk is anti migrant now it be much more hostile in a few months time.

I do not think anyone will want a US health system

Ciwirocks · 25/03/2020 15:30

Does anyone know why the death rate of completed cases has shot up to 15%? Does this mean that it is likely to be much higher than the initial 3% that was estimated?

FingonTheValiant · 25/03/2020 15:33

Ciwi partly because lots of countries are swamped and only testing cases severe enough to make it to ICU. I’m pretty certain that there was a statistic from China that by the time people needed ICU care they had a 50/50 chance of survival. So stats are being massively skewed by serious cases.

picklemewalnuts · 25/03/2020 15:35

Ciwi, also maybe because people take a long time to die?

Ciwirocks · 25/03/2020 15:45

I prefer the 1st explanation! This is getting more scary by the day

Lifesavesocialdistance · 25/03/2020 15:46

Has it mutated again to-be more severe?

Lifesavesocialdistance · 25/03/2020 15:47

Apparently tree pollen is very strong this year? Could non sufferers also have it

Lifesavesocialdistance · 25/03/2020 15:47

Hay fever I mean

Angryrant55 · 25/03/2020 15:53

Julian Borger - 'Mike Pompeo is giving a summary of this morning's virtual G7 foreign ministers meeting. He said the main focus was the "Wuhan virus".
"The Chinese Communist Party poses a substantial threat to our health and way of life as the Wuhan virus outbreak clearly has demonstrated." '

The USA worries me - if Trump comes under criticism him starting a war with China is the type of loony thing he will do.

Saturdayk · 25/03/2020 15:57

Is there a briefing this evening?

Angryrant55 · 25/03/2020 16:04

I believe so.

Elephantgrey · 25/03/2020 16:15

Home testing to be available in days. It should be able to tell you if you have had it and recovered. I would like a test if that is the case.

www.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/25/uk-coronavirus-mass-home-testing-to-be-made-available-within-days

MarshaBradyo · 25/03/2020 16:18

Elephant brilliant

Helenj1977 · 25/03/2020 16:19

Baffles me why we can't have a test to say if we've got it.

Surely thats way more important. They don't yet know if your immune if you've had it once.

Lifesavesocialdistance · 25/03/2020 16:21

Elephant that's amazing!!

Amazing 🤞🤞🤞🤞
