They aren't Jenny...

Angryrant55 · 24/03/2020 16:49

Cat Neilan - 'Who should work? Key workers yes "but we are encouraing many of our employers to innovate... and if they do have to be in the office they should spread around"

"It's a common sense principle and we all need to aply it, both employers and employees," says deputy CMO Jenny Harries.'

MurrayTheMonk · 24/03/2020 16:50

Why is that woman sitting under the monitor? Is she using it as an impromptu face mask?

SunshineCake · 24/03/2020 16:50

A death of someone of 33 is very shocking Sad.

Angryrant55 · 24/03/2020 16:51

Building sites will not be able to run a 2m rule.

LuxLFC · 24/03/2020 16:52

All the deaths are shocking to me given how preventable this was. The spread has been allowed to happen. There is no way the Government didn't know what was coming.

Angryrant55 · 24/03/2020 16:52

Peter Walker - 'Asked about people being forced to go into work, deputy chief medical officer Jenny Harries says people should raise issues with bosses if needed. This, I fear, speaks of someone who works in a supportive & empowered work environment. Many don't – their bosses need to be ordered.'

EmeraldShamrock · 24/03/2020 16:52

@Eeyoresstickhouse I think you'll still be able to go on a local walk, hopefully all those with space use it at home to allow the ones in apartments use the public area.

danni0509 · 24/03/2020 16:52

U.K. 1427 new cases on world o meter.

TheElementsOfMedical · 24/03/2020 16:53

Well, we went out for our daily state-sanctioned singular walking exercise - about an hour going quite briskly around the local park. There were a number of other families and household groups doing the same. Everybody kept their distance. Polite waving if it was somebody you recognised. Nobody abused anybody else.

If the population would be sensible (not queueing up at ice-cream vans, FFS) I think this would generally be a good arrangement for everyone.

Angryrant55 · 24/03/2020 16:55

Torcuil Crichton - 'Can boyfriends and girlfriends meet? Couples in separate households should stay in separate households or "test the strength of their relationship" by moving in with each other for lockdown says deputy chief medical officer. Oh mo nàire.'

Angryrant55 · 24/03/2020 16:55

norman smith - 'Seems Govt is now saying its ok to go into work if you can abide by 2m rule and can't work from home.
That wd seem to me to cover an awful lot of people being ok to go in to work ????'

LeeMiller · 24/03/2020 16:55

Antonello Guerrera - 'From today's early/local data, it looks like that unfortunately the mild "optimism" of yesterday's #coronavirus figures in #Italy now has already disappeared. We'll see the official numbers in a while. Another distressing day ahead, apparently

😔 Fontana earlier said the Lombardy data was in line with the last couple of days... I guess we'll find out shortly.

WhyNotMe40 · 24/03/2020 16:56

Does anyone know if they have upped the testing numbers yet?

Angryrant55 · 24/03/2020 16:56

So it's tfl problem not building sites.

Jerseygaly · 24/03/2020 16:56

Tbh quite cross about the Greyta T because they could have called off the march in Bristol. A nhs worker or dr etc called on them to. But no, more important and so imo they likely have blood on their hands of some of the people that die there or attended it.
As it's different to cheltenham (though would def have cancelled that) because it would cost to cancel and it's not a protest so flexible on dates. She walked i think all round the city into bedminster. Grr.

I think tourism and airlines if any left should be looking at giving money back to the local areas.
All of this will be caused by travelling.
To the alps/Cornwall/london/spain.
People do need to think of the impact their cruise/skiing is having on the world and on the area.

Angryrant55 · 24/03/2020 16:57

Lewis Goodall - Hancock: “there’s no reason I’ve seen for the current levels of Tube service to be as low as they are.” '

middleager · 24/03/2020 16:57

This.

MurrayTheMonk · 24/03/2020 16:58

Maybe to protect the TFL workers Matthew?

Angryrant55 · 24/03/2020 16:58

It's been 25 days since the march with no bristol spike - when that happened much larger things happened.

Angryrant55 · 24/03/2020 16:58

TFL workers are not a priorty for the goverment at all.

Angryrant55 · 24/03/2020 16:59

And builders are seen as cannon fodder.

Sunshinespacecadet · 24/03/2020 17:00

norman smith - 'Yesterday the Govt's message was stay home - save lives. Today it appears to be keep working provided its not risky (and you can't work from home.)'

Angryrant55 · 24/03/2020 17:01

Ross Hawkins - 'So govt versus London mayor now full public scrap.'
