@CharlieTangoBanana I think we are all feeling it, but at different times and with different push points. And with the best will in the world attempts at humour can fail. I've definitely fallen foul of that over the last week. Look after yourself Thanks

MurrayTheMonk · 24/03/2020 16:22

Princess Alex is my local hospital :(

Angryrant55 · 24/03/2020 16:23

Emma Beals - 'For those on twitter outraged at tube platforms packed with mostly men who look as pissed off to be there as you are, the entire construction sector is exempt from the lockdown and most are self-employed or freelance and have no choice but to crack on in absence of Govt support.'

Quartz2208 · 24/03/2020 16:23

It definitely was March 5th - we got back from Pizza for my daughters birthday with friends and then found it on their phones and freaked out so I remember. I have only just noticed it says March 6th. Maybe it how they report it 24 hours later

That makes sense why its 2 (one diamond princess) and then goes up to 3 on March 7th because that was the date of the second death.

MurrayTheMonk · 24/03/2020 16:23

That seems a big jump in one day... but we're still behind Italy?

Quartz2208 · 24/03/2020 16:24

actually they both seem to have died on the Thursday www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-51771815

So it must be how we reported them back them. Which I guess means if we report it slightly differently to Italy in the first days the comparison is not as good

Sd352 · 24/03/2020 16:28

Can you please stop spreading misinformation Angry? They will be remaining open. Why are you constantly scaremongering?

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 24/03/2020 16:29

I've just done my bit for my local community. Selected 4 neighbours, dropped off 2 eggs for a single person, 4 for a couple and 6 for the couple with 3 kids. With a note attached saying that if they wanted more to just drop their (named) boxes back in the porch and I will deliver more as and when. Hopefully I have not contaminated anyone, but we have too many eggs, and I gather they are hard to buy.

Lifesavesocialdistance · 24/03/2020 16:33

People can and should go for picnics, just away from other people and only in the
Same household family.

People living in the same house.

The level of vitriol today on social media has been appalling. People attacking others, pictures everywhere. Dreadful.
We don't know who they are...

It's like even a family out, sensibly social distancing.... Enjoy the sun... People don't like it.. They want us all too be cowering inside terrified..... Miserable...

The patronising posts I've seen about using gates in country side.. And touching this or that!

Personally I never lay bare flesh on those days things anyway....

Lifesavesocialdistance · 24/03/2020 16:33

Yolo that's v sweet

EmeraldShamrock · 24/03/2020 16:37

@Lifesavesocialdistance People should not do those things, if every family heads for a picnic it will be pretty packed like the weekend for instance.

TheCanterburyWhales · 24/03/2020 16:38

Italy's total national lockdown came on day 17. The UK's on day 14.
Only hotspots had been locked down earlier.

Yamayo · 24/03/2020 16:38

We don't have to be 'cowering inside' 'terrified' and 'miserable'.

We just have to be inside.

Rinoachicken · 24/03/2020 16:41

What time is the press conference today??

TheCanterburyWhales · 24/03/2020 16:42

Re the older parent thing. Aside from the ageism, you've only got to look at how many at-risk people there are on MN to see that the logic is off the wall as well. Plus the obesity "crisis" in the UK which isn't limited to the ancient over 40s Hmm

Eeyoresstickhouse · 24/03/2020 16:43

We have no choice but to go out for a walk locally as we have no garden or outside space at all. This is really really hard on people and parents with children. I would rather completely stay in, I want to keep my daughter as safe as can be. But is it keeping her wellbeing safe by keeping her in a flat for up to 12 weeks?

I am dreading complete lockdown as those of us with no gardens or outside space are fucked.

Angryrant55 · 24/03/2020 16:43

Will global tourism recover from both 2020 and 2021 being lost. I suspect not - i think the world will now be permanently very insular - the percentage of people in the uk with passports will drop a lot by 2025

SansaSnark · 24/03/2020 16:44

Matt Hancock on now.

Rinoachicken · 24/03/2020 16:44

Oh, it’s on now!

Angryrant55 · 24/03/2020 16:44

Lewis Goodall - 'Hancock on the PM’s instructions yesterday- “These steps are not requests they are rules- you should stay at home.”

Problem is as I’ve been reporting today, for a lot of less well off Britain, they’re not being allowed to stay at home- instead made to go to work by their bosses.'

Angryrant55 · 24/03/2020 16:45

Fuck off Hancock - he has no explanation to Laura's question.

MyHipsDontLieUnfortunately · 24/03/2020 16:46

People can and should go for picnics

No, no they shouldn't. That's not 'exercise' and is the kids of thinking that leads to police time being wasted enforcing the restrictions.

MurrayTheMonk · 24/03/2020 16:46

Why can't he just answer and say employers need to shut things now. It's not hard.

Angryrant55 · 24/03/2020 16:47

Now droning on about safe distancing at work.

Angryrant55 · 24/03/2020 16:48

norman smith - 'Advice on work is "crystal clear" says @MattHancock'

No its bloody well not.
