Someone mentioned after my last thread that I shouldn't go for a drive to somewhere remote, the idea to do this was before the guidance was fully explained but we never did do it due to being under the weather and I realised not long after posting the implications of crashes, breakdown etc! Fortunately last year our garden was our project so we have a lovely garden to enjoy (though I'm always adding to it with decor and furniture!), I'm very jealous of people who have fields on their doorsteps though. We are semi urban and can walk to woods and fields but have to walk through housing estates to do so and I'm just not comfortable with doing that. We have been isolating for about 2 weeks now, first week I pulled kids out from school as I could see where this was all going and then as soon as schools shut I told DH we needed to start lockdown so he reduced his socialising/hobbies dramatically and so as long as we don't get poorly in the next week, I feel that by only using our garden and having shopping delivered we can stay home as long as it takes to avoid having CV (if our recent bouts of illnesses weren't it!). We drop food off to parents, in laws and grandparents but it's all non-contact ie. Left near a door and they collect when we are well away.
We've settled into it really, eldest DC is doing work set by college and youngest DC(5) is enjoying doing worksheets we have printed off, she is a child who enjoys work and manages it quite well otherwise I wouldn't push it. DH and I have discovered 'Friday Night Dinner' on BBC iplayer so we are working through it on an evening which means we have something to look forward to each day. DH is currently making a Sunday lunch with DD5 helping after spending all of yesterday working in his office and so giving me a little break today.
I must say, DH is brilliant, he always has been but I'm so lucky to have someone to share the load and often do less than my fair share at his insistence!
My anxiety has pretty much gone, it peaked when I started the Positive Mental Health thread which was sometime before the general public cottoned on to the seriousness of what was coming and so I think I had more time to come to terms with it. It helps that my vulnerable elderly parents and in laws have actually heeded the advice and began self isolating a few weeks ago too.
I don't care how long this goes on for, right now it's a bit shit admittedly but soon enough the weather will be warmer and I look forward to spending days in the garden enjoying the sun!
Really feel for people who don't have that outside space, our garden isn't large but we have artificial grass which although not environmentally friendly means we don't have a waterlogged mudbath like last year. We back onto a school field so I feel less closed in.
