Yes I found they made me out of breath Bunny and also put on weight.
I have a lot of sympathy as anxiety was the worst thing ever and hard to explain to others.
Weirdly I was on anti-Ds too and came off both after a short period due to side effects. Wasn’t depressed tho. Something changed my brain chemistry after that and I am not sure what but wondering if it’s my obsession ugh exercise has helped (I know this is a such a cliché so not touting it as a cure)and have been low carb for a year.
Also peri menopausal so generally quite mental anyway 🤷‍♀️

Siameasy · 26/03/2020 21:58

With not ugh

RussianDolls · 26/03/2020 22:01

Glad I found this thread. Will be following. It makes a change from a lot of the doom and gloom threads on here.

Thanks

Bunnyflop · 26/03/2020 22:22

@Siameasy funny you should say about exercise because I’ve been doing walks during this lockdown (which I don’t normally do) and it really helped me take a breath and get some stress out. I was kind of stomping along at a pace and envisaging it like when you’re boxing or whatever and pounding out the stress of you see what I mean. My fibromyalgia means I can’t go running or anything v athletic at the moment which is a fucking pain cos I’d love to run or do boxercise and I bet it’d be very therapeutic!! Well done for conquering the beast.

ClarencesMum · 26/03/2020 22:28

I am going to coorie in here for a while, thank you for this thread.

Yesterday dh and I were up early and after my coffee I decided to take my walk. We live near the sea and if settles me to be near it. Anyway I was getting my shoes on and he was like 'oh that'll be frest gove me a minite" I hadn't wanted company! Our kids are old enough to be left for half an hour. So we went out together, seen not a sole and had a lovely walk talking about normal stuff. We done the same again this morning. I think that will be our thing. Here was me wa ting to go alone as well. Although theres time yet!

ClarencesMum · 26/03/2020 22:30

Sorry I sh read in future!!all proof

ClarencesMum · 26/03/2020 22:30

Oh jings...

Sorry!!

IdrisElbasLeftTesticle · 26/03/2020 22:42

Today is two weeks since I stopped smoking. Cold turkey with no nicotine replacement. I previously stopped for seven years and stupidly started again two years ago. I miss it a lot less than I thought I would. So that’s good.

ACupOfTeaSolvesEverything · 26/03/2020 22:54

Hello please can I join you. I’m going out of my mind and a lovely poster pointed me to this thread.

I’ll preface by saying my mum died 7 months ago and since then I’ve been very worried I’m going to die and leave my little boy without a mother.

I’m 42 and terrified I’m going to get covid19 and die. I’m overweight and although I’ve lost weight recently I can’t magically shrink overnight. I’ve gone from BMI of 39.5 to 37. I also had tonsillitis recently which has left my chest a bit tight still. Other than that I’m fit and well, I don’t smoke, rarely drink alcohol, get my 5 a day etc. Before lockdown I was walking my dogs in the woods for an hour a day and I do yoga with my son.
But I’m so worried I’m fat and getting over being ill and am going to catch this and die. I’ve started doing the PE with Joe Wicks with my boy to try to get fitter. But again Rome wasn’t built in a day.
I’m so scared and I don’t feel there’s anything I can do.

My DH was recovering from depression and anxiety and this has thrown him right back in. His mental health has completely nosedived. I can’t leave my son without me and with a dad who can’t look after himself at the moment never mind a child.
I’m bricking it. And the worse I worry the tighter my chest gets which I know logically is panic but that doesn’t help.

Flowers acupoftea

I lost my mum very recently too and have the same fears about dying and leaving my children. We will get through this.

magimedi · 26/03/2020 23:17

The clappin round here was amazing - the whole street came out.

I hope we do it every week as it was a real sould lift.

@Bloodybackpain - Do you live near me? Someone was letting off a few rockets here as well. East Sussex is al lI'll give away!!

gingerbreadslice · 27/03/2020 00:20

@IdrisElbasLeftTesticle Howwwww I've tried to go cold turkey so many times but it doesn't work only when I'm pregnant and each time I've started again!

I even bought the Allen Carr stop smoking book it made me feel good and I didn't crave one but I find the nights really hard to sleep without a cig the insomnia drives me mad.

Bloodybackpain · 27/03/2020 05:38

@magimedi nope I am not near you. Nice to know it was happening in other parts of the country!

Bloodybackpain · 27/03/2020 05:54

I’m generally a really bad sleeper but I’ve actually not slept too badly over the last week. I think I’ve seen the build up of the corona virus stuff over the last few months and that’s increased my anxiety but now that it has hit a head in the U.K. I’m kind of calmer.

PowerslidePanda · 27/03/2020 06:54

I've been lurking on this thread since the beginning and am pleased to be able to add my own positive story.

My Dad has just recovered from what is almost certainly CV (not tested, but based on opinion of GP). He's 60, with cardiovascular disease and high blood pressure, so I was very worried - but despite that, he only had a mild case and is doing fine now. He passed it onto my mum, who's the same age and also has one of the risk factors, and her symptoms were even milder still.

IdrisElbasLeftTesticle · 27/03/2020 07:35

@gingerbreadslice I honestly don’t know! I think it was just the right time. The first few days were awful but since then it’s ok, and it’s actually removed a lot of stress from my life - I’m no longer stressing about when I’m going to be able to have a cigarette, or wasting my time planning how I can sneak out for one without the kids seeing me.

Knowing that I’ve done it before and it was fine also helped. It’s only the beginning that’s hard, then it’s just normal.

ClarencesMum · 27/03/2020 07:39

Good morning! I live in a fairly quiet part of the world... or I thought it was until it got even quieter! The nearest big road is a dual carriage way that is about 2 5 miles away. I can usually hear the faint hum of it but not a sound this morning. Same for the train and with no planes overhead it is so quiet. Just a pity the only birds I ever seem to hear is seagulls and crows!

ACupOfTeaSolvesEverything · 27/03/2020 07:44

PowerslidePanda that’s really reassuring thanks for posting

ACupOfTeaSolvesEverything · 27/03/2020 07:45

IdrisElbasLeftTesticle Sorry for your loss it’s very hard isn’t it xx

RobinHobb · 27/03/2020 07:55

Hi everyone

Just a small ask from me to keep it positive please! I'm avoiding all news and it's really really helped me - I cannot tell you how much. This is the only thread I read and when I picked up this morning the first thing I read was about a child getting it badly and a PP saying that news is saying children can get it too...
Didn't need to know that!
I might just sign out entirely from the thread.

Positives from me: this weather is lovely. My DH is spending lots of time with the kids as I'm on bed rest with the pneumonia. He takes them and the dog for a walk everyday in our more or less deserted park and they love it.

We are enjoying the garden and being at home and baking and cooking. I'm off work now so I can focus on them. It's nice.

This beautiful sunshine and the lovely river lifts my spirits! One day closer to the end

Noooblerooble · 27/03/2020 08:01

Morning all. Some gentle hugs for those of you struggling. We can do this.

I think I posted this already but www.curablehealth.com has some excellent tools to help with anxiety. It is a gem of a programme and can be done even if you don't have pain.

I can also highly recommend an excellent book called Mindfulness: a practical guide to finding peace in a frantic world by Mark Williams. It's doing me good to read it now.

I think we're entering the toughest phase with this virus but just keep in mind it is going to pass. We know 100% that's the case and all the isolation measures etc are going to make that happen sooner than it feels. It's just about getting through this awful rocky patch.

Really good to hear about Iceland - if half have had it we might well be the same and half the population being immune is a v good thing. Also I keep telling myself however tragic it is that people are dying (and it is) it's still statistically a tiny number of people who are succumbing to this. The vast majority of people are still going to be ok.

Have a good day

StCharlotte · 27/03/2020 08:28

Morning!

I made a mighty risotto last night which means WINE! We don't normally drink at home but having opened a bottle for the risotto, I have a glass while I'm stirring.

Did anyone else do the Virtual Pub Quiz last night?

ExpletiveDelighted · 27/03/2020 08:31

I meant to do it but forgot

Pinkarsedfly · 27/03/2020 08:32

I did!

I got 30/50 Blush

I blame stress.

tobee · 27/03/2020 08:44

Oh I forgot to find out about the virtual pub quiz!
